Q: What are the advantages to using VoIP? A: Because VoIP is digital, it may offer features and services that are not available with a traditional phone line. You can forward calls from the Internet, block anonymous calls, even use your VoIP service on your mobile. You can also talk with many people at the same time without any additional cost.

Q: Why should I switch to VoIP? A: VoIP is a more affordable alternative than a traditional phone line. It looks and feels the same way a landline does, but offers many additional features free of cost. Q: I am moving soon. Can I take VoIP with me? A: Yes. VoIP phones work with an IP address instead of a local BT exchange. IP addresses don’t have physical locations, so that means that your IP phone will work at any physical location that has high-speed Internet.

Staff FocusStuart Dawes is our very own ‘Techie’ for ADSI Mobiles. He joined us in 2012 from an O2 store in Chelmsford where he had trained as an O2 Guru.

Many of you may have spoken to Stuart when you needed help setting up your new handsets, or when you were experiencing some glitch or technical problem – he is the guy to call! He also gets involved in assisting the sales team with putting together their proposals and offers, looks after our Autovoice customers with campaigns and provides news and updates to the staff regarding O2’s network and new handset releases.

What do you enjoy about your work at ADSI? I enjoy turning an unhappy customer into a happy customer. Working with the sales team and operations team is always fun, I especially enjoy the banter.

What’s the worst thing you’ve ever had to put right, or help out with, on a phone? I remember assisting a customer who was blind. He had an iPhone 6; you would think a blind person wouldn’t be able to use an iPhone but Apple has a feature which reads out what you are typing and a feature to navigate the iPhone, which is different to how a non-blind person would navigate the handset. I setup his phone so he could use it and off he went.

A week later he came back to see me and he had lost his iPhone 6. Luckily he had insurance and had an iCloud back up and was able to get another iPhone. However, a week after that he called me saying he had lost it again! This time I tracked his iPhone using Find My iPhone on iCloud. I tracked his handset to his home and made the iPhone ring remotely from my desk – needless to say his iPhone was found!

What was your first mobile phone? My first mobile phone was a Nokia 3310. I was addicted to the game “snake”. A feature I loved was that you could compose your own ringtone on the handset - I created the Harry Potter theme tune as my ringtone!

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself? I used be to be a dancer and I had a scholarship for a performance arts college. I still dance now but only as a hobby.

Golf day 2016On a hot and humid Tuesday we hosted our 14th annual Golf Day at Channels Golf Club in Chelmsford. Over 60 customers found their way to the Channels Estate in Chelmsford for a days’ golf and entertainment. Once there they then had to make their way, by pure luck and guesswork, around the 18 holes (there were no course maps, just a few directions, which caused a bit of confusion!).

It was great to see some new customers joining us this year, and to welcome some familiar ones too! The day started off well with all teams playing a friendly Texas Scramble, the winning team were; Michael Foster & Michael Neame from Kent Flush Doors and Anthony Stockman and Danny Mansfield from Remedy Recruitment, pictured above.

Our afternoon competition was slightly more competitive as the golfers fought the sticky temperature, long fairways and the numerous lakes.

Sadly no one won the £10,000 Hole in One prize on the 7th! However, much fun was had with ‘Beat the Pro’. Nine golfers beat him but the best overall was Zac Dodd from Kingswood Cooling.
