People have many chat sites like mxit or BBM and spend more time chatting on those sites even while in the presence of friends or family.

People become secluded as they are constantly looking down on their phones instead of interacted in the physical world and then only meet people on a technological level and not on a physical and emotional level.

These statistics show how popular smartphones have become meaning more people become part of the social network. The amount of users means more smartphones being used in schools meaning more students losing concentration, cheating, rumours. The large amount of users that use text messaging may mean that many more people will lose their natural connection to people and become enthralled into their networks and so people find their connection to people being mainly a text.
