Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a restful break and is re-energized

as we enter the third Quarter.

During the Winter Break, we had 17 new students register at Nimitz. I

would like to welcome our incoming families to the school. We look

forward to partnering with you and encourage your active participation.

If you are interested in volunteering, you may contact our

Parent-Community Networking Coordinator (PCNC), Norma Sosa, at

307-4400 or stop by the PCNC room located in the cafeteria.

Are you looking for a way to get involved at our school? I encourage you

to join our Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), which meets once a

month in the cafeteria. They are always looking for more support and

volunteers. The next meeting is on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 5:00

pm in the cafeteria. We hope to see you there! To contact the PTO,

I would like to acknowledge our Student Council advisors, Mrs. Sheri

Honnaka and Mr. Todd Matsumoto along with our hardworking Student

Council for planning our upcoming “Spirit Week” to be held during the

week of January 22 – January 25, 2019. Here’s a sneak preview:

Kindergarten Registration Your child must be 5 on or before July 31, 2019 to enter Kindergarten. Kindergarten registration for year

2019-2020 begins on February 1, 2019. You may register Monday-Friday between 8:30am-2:00pm. Please

inform your neighbors, who do not currently have school-aged children attending Nimitz Elementary School,

of this registration.

You will need to provide the following items to complete the registration:

Proof of residency (house/lease agreement)

Proof of child’s identity (original birth certificate, passport, baptismal certificate)

Tuberculosis clearance - A PPD (Mantoux) skin test with date given, date read, results, and doctor’s

signature is required. The tuberculin skin test must be performed in the United States within one year of

school entry.

Physical examination with results written on Form 14. The physical exam must be completed within one

year of school entry.

Immunization record - Each student must have an up-to-date immunization record to include the varicella

vaccination or certificate of actual chicken pox verified by a doctor.

If prescribed medication will need to be stored and administered, please request Form SH 36 to be

completed and returned to the School Health Aid. Form must be completed prior to first day of school.

We hope you all had a restful break, Welcome back and Happy New Year! The PTO

wants to give our families a quick recap regarding the success of our Jingle Bell Bub-

ble Run. Your generous contributions raised over $5,300, smashing through the

roof of our $5K goal! More than 180 students participated in the fundraiser, which

is double the number of students who participated last year! We could not be more

thrilled or more thankful to your families and friends. The funds raised will provide

our teachers an art supplement up to $100, which will then be used to purchase

supplies for each classroom’s art curriculum. The Bubble Run would not have been

successful without you. Thank you so much for your support!!
