    Benefits of the Tools

? SAP NetWeaver Administrator (NWA) bundles all key functionalityneeded for daily administration. It is one web based tool for all tasksbeing processed insideof the Application Server Java, which runs outof the box. SAP NetWeaver Administrator replaces SAP VisualAdministrator.

? AS Java configuration via templates is one building block for SAPsZero Administration

? Use of JMX (Java Monitoring Extensions) as an open Java standard.

    Tools Overview

Main administration tools provided with the SAP CE are:? SAP Management Console (SAP MC) / Microsoft MC

Centrally monitor and perform basic bootstrapping administration tasks, such asstarting or stopping the application server, monitoring log files, ICM administrationetc.

? Config ToolOffline configuration of the application server, such as addingadditional server processes to a Java instance, viewing andreconfiguring system properties, and so on.

? SAP NetWeaver Administrator (NWA)Web-based tool in a local and central flavour for monitoring and administration. To integrate application management and administration, SAP has decided toextend SAP Solution Manager with the capabilities of the central SAP NetWeaverAdministrator. Central monitoring of a CE system will be done via SAP SolutionManager.

? DB related administration tools? Telnet Administrator

Administer the application server remotely using telnet or to perform moreadvanced administration or runtime configuration steps, to connect to the serverand execute the available server shell commands.

    ConfigTool

ConfigTool - Characteristics? The ConfigTool enables Zero Administration concept: The goal is to

simplify the technical configuration within the NetWeaver Java stack. Therefore remaining configuration tasks will be kept to a minimum.

? Its template based structure allows for instance to configure the ASJava with minimum resource requirement. Additionally, onlydefinitely required services and applications are started.

? Is Required for VM and UME parameter settings or instance profile.

? Is used for nearly all main configuration tasks like configuration oflogs, applications, managers, services, instances and secure store.

    ? ConfigTool is started via\j2ee\configtool\configtool.bat (Win)/j2ee/configtool/configtool.sh (Unix)
