Dear reader,

We will be entering into the 7th year of this Local Committee’s existence. It’s about time we started our

flight towards growing to our full potential. This is our time to shine and show what we’re capable of.

One shot, everything rides on, tonight

Even if I’ve got three strikes, I’m going for it

This moment, We own it!

These are words that I felt really strongly about and this is something I want to convey to AIESEC in

Manipal University as a whole. It is our time, all we have to do is stand up, stand out and OWN IT!

This manifesto is an embodiment of my beliefs and my vision for this local committee.

3. Executive Body 2015-16

3.1 Describe the experience of being a part of the Executive Body of AIESEC in Manipal

University. How do you think other members on the team would evaluate your

contribution to the team & LC’s organisational direction?

To say that my term as an Executive Body member has been challenging, is a grave understatement. My current role seems to have understood where my comfort zone lies, picked me up and thrown my as far away from it, as possible. But, that’s the point of it all. It has been a different kind of experience as compared to my first Executive Body term. I have faced all sorts of different challenges this time around and I feel that I was tested to my absolute limits. With the help of a strong support system, we have overcome our challenges and I, along with the team have grown stronger individually and as a team. From what my teammates have told me, they have always felt that I have been rational and logical throughout, in terms of my decision making. I have always been one to state my opinion and stand by it but, I have never tried to enforce it on the team. In terms of organizational directions, we have always worked on it together, as a team and I believe that I have always put in my best to try to work towards the direction. Everything that I have looked to implement, I have tried to align it with the direction in which the LC needed to be heading.

3.2 What aspect of your Executive Body term could you have significantly improved upon

(personally and as a team)?

Personally, I believe that I could have done better in terms of implementation of my plans and ideas. This is one aspect of my professional attitude that I have been trying to work on over the past year or so. I do believe that I have improved but, there’s still a long way to go. As Vice President – Finance, I had a lot of ideas and plans to drive down Financial education and accountability in the Local Committee but, I wasn’t able to implement it to the fullest. As a part of the team, something we lacked through the year is stability. There were a lot of changes in the team and I felt that it hampered us in terms of our continuity and in terms of our stability. The team culture wasn’t the best but, it has improved a lot over the course of the last nine months and that is one major positive. But, the stability aspect of the team is something I think we could have improved upon.

4. What are your three basic learnings/values for life, which you have derived through your AIESEC

experience? (Answer objectively)

Page 6: Aditya Sriram, Applicant to the Office of LCP 2016-17

I have learned to demonstrate integrity through all my

actions and I live by a set of ethics.

I always strive to be the best at whatever I do and I always

give my best.

To work in a team, it is very important to be honest and

accountable with everyone on the team.

5. What have been your main achievements and non-achievements in AIESEC in the past? (Mention

a max of three each)

Achievements:

Part of a team that achieved 400% growth in Re and won the award for Most Progressive

oGIP in the country.

Part of a team recognized internationally as a star supplier for IT EPs.

Established successful financial processes and tracking systems and achieved profitability

in all programmes.

Non-achievements:

Missed out on winter target as VP oGCDP, of 20. Achieved only 6.

Financial education systems not implemented.

Inability to provide a good team experience in my first TLP role.

6. Highlight your time commitment throughout the whole of next year (till Dec 2016; Academic or

otherwise).

January to May 2016 – College project work (8th semester)

May to December 2016 – Free / Part-time jobs to sustain livelihood.

| Motivation

1. Why did you decide to run for LCP of AIESEC in Manipal University? What are the qualities required

for this role & what makes you best suited for this role?

The very experience of being the head of an organization of about 75 odd people, seems extremely challenging and enticing at the same time. I believe that every role in AIESEC is a different kind of challenge and the role of an LCP is as big as it gets. “Don’t limit your challenges. Challenge your limits.” The role of an LCP is a big challenge and I want to push my limits to see how well I can perform at this challenge and how I can learn and develop personally and professionally. “A smooth sea never made a skillful sailor.”

Page 7: Aditya Sriram, Applicant to the Office of LCP 2016-17

I joined AIESEC two and a half years ago and I know now what I didn’t know back then. AIESEC has completely transformed me. But, it took me the longest time to realize why I was doing what I was. It was for the experiences that AIESEC and this Local Committee had provided me. I still believe that it’s naïve to think that I can repay the organization for the same. But, one thing I can do is take ownership towards delivering the same experiences to as many of our nation’s youth as possible. This is the moment for me to activate young leaders who want to make a difference in today’s society, and I want to OWN THIS MOMENT. I believe that an LCP needs to be:

Value driven

Demonstrating integrity

Strong-willed and determined

Calm and composed

Motivated and self-aware

I believe that I am driven by my values and at the same time target oriented. I can provide the sense of direction to the Local Committee which I feel is much required. I am a very ethical person and I do my best to demonstrate integrity in everything that I do. I am very passionate about anything that I take up and I am determined to achieve the goals that I set for myself. I also see myself as a logical and strategic thinker and I always factor in all the effects before making a decision. These qualities are what make me the best suited for the role of an LCP.

2. Describe your future short-term and long-term career and personal goals. How do you expect an LCP

term to help you achieve these goals and why now?

My short term goal is to gain work experience and based on how the next two years pan out, look into applying for an MBA degree abroad. I am currently keeping all my options open and I do not have a very fixed mindset on what I want to achieve on a short term basis. On the long run, I want to eventually start and run my own business successfully. I do not see myself doing a corporate job for long periods of time. But, I would be open to taking up such opportunities for the experience. I plan to use every work experience that I gain as a stepping stone into the world of entrepreneurship. The LCP role would give me the vital experience of being the sole end responsible of a professional organization. This would aid my short-term as well as long-term goals. An LCP role would hugely benefit my networking skills by giving me the opportunity of interacting with the youth of 126 different countries and that is something that I believe would be a huge benefit for someone looking to become an entrepreneur. I believe this is the right time for me to run for this post because this is the moment when I am open to taking risks and experimenting. I believe the few years I have now, might just be the only time I can afford to try different things.

3. What are your three most substantial personal accomplishments (non-AIESEC), and why do you view

them as such? Provide a candid assessment of your strengths and weaknesses.

Three achievements: 1. Receiving a placement offer: In the 7th semester of college, I was going through the placement

process conducted by the college and I did manage to clear the initial rounds for a couple of

companies before getting rejected. I finally went all the way and secured a placement offer from a

very well reputed company. The placement process in itself was quite challenging and I had to go

through a lot of failures before finally succeeding.

Page 8: Aditya Sriram, Applicant to the Office of LCP 2016-17

2. 5th place in a national level competition: I was in my final year of schooling and I was a part of a

team of four who entered the Oxford-Brookes National Competition. We went through multiple

rounds before reaching the final, where we represented our school on a national level and secured

5th position out of about 250+ initial entries. This was my first substantial team experience and it

was also one of my first crack at showcasing my presentation skills.

3. Runners-up at a college football tournament: I was in my first year of college and I used to play

football quite regularly. I was a part of a team that finished runners-up in an internal tournament

and I feel this was quite a good achievement because we had to work very hard to get where we

did. Just goes to show that practice makes perfect.

Strengths:

Passion: I am always passionate about whatever I choose to take up and that is what keeps me

motivated to complete my tasks and achieve my goals.

Determination: I do not tend to give up very easily. I always try my best to achieve my goals,

even if it seems impossible. I believe that one can either succeed, or learn and try again.

Open-minded: I tend to take in everyone’s opinions before making a decision. It gives me

fresh perspectives so that I can make well informed decisions. I’m always open to trying new

things and ever willing to adapt to changes.

Logical and rational thinking: Everything I do, every decision I make, tends to have a logical

reasoning behind it. I evaluate things majorly on the basis of its rationality and this helps me

understand problems and evaluate how different decisions will cause different courses of

action.

Weaknesses:

Time management: This is something that I have constantly been trying to improve upon. I

still need to learn how to prioritize my tasks in order to work more efficiently.

Procrastination: I tend to procrastinate quite a bit and this causes an unnecessary delay and

an increase in workload.

Over-thinking: I sometimes over-think the little things which end up delaying my decision

making process.

“Everybody has their strengths and weaknesses; it’s only when you accept them that you will truly succeed.” I always look to capitalize on my strengths so that I can give my best in everything that I do. At the same time, I believe in the saying, “A chain is only as strong as its weakest link”. It is essential to understand and accept our weaknesses so that we can work on them and try to erase them and make ourselves stronger.

| Programme/Function Questionnaire

1. Programs (Please be program specific if need be)

1.1. What will be the changes that will leverage the volume of AIESEC in Manipal University’s ELD

Experiences in 2016? How are these connected with the external environment?

GCs Innovation proposed: Early building of IR

Setting up of country/LC partners early enough to pitch as sure shot available TNs to

prospective EPs and hence, promising quick delivery to both sides.

Top Strategies:

Partnerships through social media, online forums, conferences, etc.

Showcasing of past EPs and building a strong brand for our Local Committee as a whole.

External relevance:

Enhanced EP engagement techniques coupled with quick delivery will ensure the satisfaction

of our EPs and improve our brand image amongst the students of our University. This will

help us impact more and more students.

GTs Innovation proposed: Partnerships with placement cell and MIT clubs

Partnering with the placement cell of MIT along with various student clubs to help AIESEC

become the first choice internship partner in Manipal University.

Top strategies:

Pitch the value proposition of GT programme along with a Financial model where some

number of exchanges can be covered/subsidized.

Early IR partnerships to be formed in order to make a strong proposal.

External relevance:

Considering we have a very strong market for this portfolio to thrive in, we will be offering the

students exactly what they want, an international, technical internship experience.

GCo Innovation proposed: Build a brand for this programme

Start to build a brand for this programme specific to our Local Committee, internally and

externally.

Top strategies:

Offer free exchanges/subsidized to students who are willing to host interns and “be a part of

the brand”.

Maintaining Standards and Satisfactions to ensure quality experiences are delivered to all

stakeholders and this in turn will strengthen our brand image. Quality drives quantity.

External relevance:

Page 13: Aditya Sriram, Applicant to the Office of LCP 2016-17

Increase in number of opportunities to engage with AIESEC. Chance to experience living

diversity for those who choose to take up these opportunities, by hosting interns and going on

exchange.

GTo Evolution proposed: Capitalizing on University Relations

Putting forth a proposal to have AIESEC interns working in the colleges of Manipal University

and proposing a financial model that benefits both parties.

Top strategies:

Showcase the relevance of this programme to the University and the quality of AIESEC

interns to paint a picture of a win-win for both parties.

Waive/Subsidize admin fee for the University to raise a few TNs on a trial basis and deliver to

these to make sure that a strong base is built to capitalize on.

External relevance:

This would be beneficial for the University in terms of their international relations, brand

image and reputation. This would also help the EPs undergo a very high quality experience

under a challenging international environment that is provided to them by their internship

opportunities at the various colleges under Manipal University.

Global Leaders Evolution proposed: Changing paradigms of HR

A complete shift in the way that HR/Talent Management is done in our Local Committee.

This should help improve the culture of the Local Committee as a whole and drive a wave of

change and ownership towards our vision.

Top strategies:

Changing the recruitment model basis from judging applicants based on their competencies

alone, to evaluating and deeming whose objectives align with the organizational objectives.

Points based RnR to be introduced for a very systematic approach towards incentivization of

goals.

External relevance:

Better HR processes and policies lead to happier members. These members will then start to

achieve their personal and professional objectives and in turn the organization’s objectives.

This will help us create more and more leaders who impact the society positively. This will

increase the number of promoters and hence improve the brand image of our organization.

1.2. How can the Customer Flow be leveraged out to deliver a strong 2016?

Page 14: Aditya Sriram, Applicant to the Office of LCP 2016-17

GCs:

In this portfolio, we need to be focusing most of our efforts and resources on the attraction phase. We have to establish a strong brand presence with regards to the Global Citizen programme and showcase the relevance of this programme to the students of the University. This will boost the number of applicants to this programme.

Action steps:

Strengthen University Relations to ease stringent attendance criteria by showcasing value

proposition

Marketing campaigns showcasing EP experiences

Innovative and out of the box ideas to attract students towards this programme

Strong IR building to showcase country/LC partners.

GTs: Focus and resources must be on the attraction and consideration phases. The placement cells of all the colleges can be partnered with in order to make AIESEC a first choice partner for students seeking technical internships. There also needs to be a consistent and innovative effort put into building solid International Relations.

Action steps:

Partnerships with placement cells

Partnerships with student clubs to help organize technical competitions, the winners of which

could have their exchange sponsored

Business intelligence and research based segmentation of opportunities and subsequent building

of IR to aid reverse-raises and set partnerships.

GCo: Focus needs to be on the value delivery phase. We need to aim at providing very high quality experience delivery to every intern that we host in our Local Committee. This, along with Financial sustainability of the portfolio are the topmost priorities.

Action steps:

Investment and expense analysis needs to be done to evaluate the sustainability of this portfolio

Standards and Satisfaction guidelines need to be met.

GTo: Focus needs to be on the attraction phase. There is no presence of this portfolio in our local reality at the moment and this is something that needs to be worked on. The value proposition of this programme needs to be clearly understood and then conveyed to the University to gain their support for the same.

Action steps:

Understanding the value proposition of this programme

Working on an investment model to begin the portfolio and establish it to grow steadily

Strengthening University Relations.

Global Leaders:

Page 15: Aditya Sriram, Applicant to the Office of LCP 2016-17

Focus needs to be on the value delivery phase. Our LC lacks in terms of culture and the understanding of the why of AIESEC, amongst the membership. This leads to a poor retention rate and a poor implementation of the activation of leadership.

Action steps:

Strong HR processes and policies to enhance the experience of a member

Innovative yet, systematic RnR campaigns to promote a healthy competition

Larger number of LC forums that add value to the membership

Driving down the importance of Clarity of Why.

1.3. What actions steps do you propose for a stronger quality of experiences delivered?

The action steps to ensure a strong quality of experiences delivered are as follows: GCs:

Constant EP engagement

Right expectation settings at the attraction phase

Investments into EP LEADs and EP kits

Feedback system to gauge EP experience

GTs:

Constant EP engagement

Guaranteed delivery to all EPs

Right expectation settings to clarify the value propositions and to make EPs understand the

demand situation

Investments into EP Training and EP LEADs

Gain support from University to increase the credibility of this programme

GCo:

Investments into delivery, eg. EP kits, brochures, etc.

Setting of accommodation, travel and other necessities well in advance

Adhering to all the 16 Standards and satisfactions guidelines

Partnering with travel organizations to provide the EPs with travelling agenda

Providing incentives to externals/AIESECers who host interns

GTo:

Securing the help of the University for high quality TNs and accommodation

Setting of accommodation, travel and other necessities well in advance

Adhering to all the 16 Standards and satisfactions guidelines

2. Business Development

2.1. Evaluate the performance of BD in the year 2015.

Business Development, as a portfolio, lacked a sense of direction in its initial months. There was a team set and they did have targets but, in my opinion, it never aligned with the LC’s direction and it was never upto the scale it which it was required to be. Over the course of the term, it became evident

Page 16: Aditya Sriram, Applicant to the Office of LCP 2016-17

that there was a lack of a clear understanding of the product that the team was selling. There were changes in terms of personnel and things did stabilize but, the achieved BD inflow is still not even comparable to the target set at the start of the year. At the moment, the inflow is INR. 72,000/- and this was achieved mainly as inflow for the two events that we have held – Global Village and Umeed. This falls way short of the budgeted inflow of INR. 150,000/-, for the two events combined. Apart from this, even though there were a few appointments carried out to raise money for the organization, they haven’t been successful. There needed to be a realistic set of prospective clients approached but, there was a lack of smart research to generate the same.

The Business Development department may have worked very hard but, they did not work smart. There have been positive signs over the last few months with a newfound sense of direction but, it only remains for us to see how strong the department finishes.

2.2. Propose key projects for BD in 2016. (Explain briefly)

Key projects for BD in 2016: 1. BD driving exchange: BD as a portfolio directly contributing and driving outgoing exchange.

Action steps:

Engagement of all stakeholders through events

In-kind partnerships for logistics for EP kits

Partnerships with travel agencies

2. Client Relations Management: Satisfying and maintaining good relations with all clients of the

Local Committee.

Action steps:

Periodic newsletters

Engagement at LC forums and events

Providing reports showcasing their value addition

3. Sales for Global Citizen Programme – Organizational sector: Raising funds specifically for the

functioning and sustainability of this programme.

Action steps:

Market research and segmentation

Proper product packaging and selling

Engagement of these clients through online mediums

Engagement at events and other LC forums

4. Sales Education: Applicable to all exchange departments to enhance the sales skills of all

operational members.

Action steps:

Regular meetings for sales training

Understanding and showcasing the importance of product packaging

Showcasing the relevance and requirements of sales skills

2.3. Give your (probable) ER/BD target for the next year. Justify the same, considering the ground

realities faced in the LC in 2015.

Considering our market realities and the scope for such a portfolio in our locality, I would set a BD target of INR. 500,000/- and an ER target of INR. 200,000/-. Our target for BD in 2015 was INR. 635,000/- and ER was INR. 200,000/-. The target that I have set for the year 2016 is in my opinion, ideal. An inflow of INR. 500,000 should be achievable considering all our events

Page 17: Aditya Sriram, Applicant to the Office of LCP 2016-17

and for the coming year, each event will be scaled up to quite an extent. Also, factoring in the scale of our operations, this amount would be enough to keep us comfortable. In terms of ER, considering that we did run the portfolio in a profit this year, a minimum target of INR. 200,000/- should keep us safe in case we are ever in a need to invest in improving the quality of experiences delivered.

3. Financial Management

3.1. Define a financially sustainable LC. How do you envision AIESEC in Manipal University in 2016

with respect to being financial profitability and investment-friendly?

A financially sustainable LC is one which has reserves of amounts greater than its cost of operations for a minimum 6 months. At the moment, our Local Committee is financially sustainable. Our operating costs are reduced quite a bit, as compared to other LCs due to the fact that we do not have major expenditure towards the maintenance of our Local office and other such resources. Our LC was never very investment friendly. Sure, there were always plans made to invest in certain areas but, it was a difficult task to implement with the University being the control point of all the finances. This year though, there have been investments made on things such as conferences, office revamp, etc. Most of our investments have provided a positive return apart from the investment made on the presence at the BRIC Summit in Macau. As of now, all programmes that are run by are Local Committee are profitable within itself and will be able to sustain itself independently. AIESEC India is aiming towards a achieving a profit with every exchange done. This should be the target that we set ourselves as a Local Committee while budgeting for the upcoming year. Our LC will become much more investment friendly over the course of the coming year, simply because we will now have the independence to invest large amounts in a much quicker time frame. This is boosted mainly thanks to the introduction of the AXIS Bank account. We must start to evaluate every investment based on its returns so that we ensure that every investment is a good investment. “Smart investments leading to a profitable financial model and the growth of the organization.” With this vision for the department that I had for this year, I had envisioned profitability in all programmes and we have achieved it. Going forward in the same direction, would make the LC more investment friendly and the financial profitability of all programmes would be a driver of growth for the LC.

3.2. Define major areas of investment for the year 2016.

4. Marketing and Information Management

4.1. What emphasis does Marketing as a function hold currently for AIESEC in Manipal University?

Critically analyse the same. Also evaluate its contribution to growth in all ELD programs,

including Global Leaders Program.

Marketing as a portfolio plays a major role in our Local Committee. Marketing has the major responsibility of showcasing the value proposition of AIESEC and the programmes it offers, to the external environment. Manipal University has a very large and diverse crowd and a lot of the students are looking for opportunities to develop themselves into better individual. AIESEC provides such opportunities. And it is marketing’s job to showcase them and portray the right picture of the organization to make people understand the relevance of the AIESEC programmes. Marketing has the task of establishing and upholding a brand image of AIESEC as an organization as well as the programmes it offers. As things stand, I don’t see AIESEC being firmly established as a brand in our local reality. Our aim is to be the first choice partners for internships and leadership development experiences and as of now we aren’t there yet. Out of our existing programmes, the Incoming Exchange portfolios have no brand existence. The other programmes do not yet have a strong brand image.

Marketing’s contribution to growth in ELD programmes: GCs:

Basic establishing of the Global Citizen brand

Running online campaigns to promote exchange

Medium-scale marketing through LC events

Showcasing of experiences and EP stories through physical information seminars

GTs:

Poor brand presence of the Global Talent brand

Ineffective campaigns

Page 19: Aditya Sriram, Applicant to the Office of LCP 2016-17

ICX:

No brand established for Manipal as a destination

Campaigns run for promotion of projects

Decent contribution towards building of IR for ICX Matching

Global Leaders:

Showcasing of TMP/TLP experiences

Showcasing the relevance and benefits of being a part of AIESEC

Decent number of sign-ups for recruitments through interest generated by such campaigns

4.2. How should Marketing evolve in the LC in 2016? How do you see it contributing to ELD programs

in 2016?

Marketing, for the next year, needs to focus on brand enhancement as a major project. There needs to be a major enhancement of the internal as well as external branding of the organization in our Local Committee. The reasons for the same being:

Rebranding of AIESEC in the locality and specific product packaging of all core products.

Need to become first choice partner for internships in our locality.

Overall refinement of our brand image.

Need for strong internal brand to promote to the AIESEC network.

A strong internal brand will also drive the membership and the LC culture.

These are the actions steps that Marketing can perform in order to contribute towards the growth of ELD:

i. Global Citizen (Students)

Handling attraction phase to get registrations.

Proper product packaging.

Showcasing of IXP stories.

Information seminars and creative strategies to showcase exchange.

Strong physical and online marketing.

ii. Global Talent (Students)

Sub-product based marketing and showcasing of specific countries.

Showcasing XP stories.

Partnering with student clubs to organize competitions to find top notch EPs.

Showcasing the value proposition of a Global Talent.

iii. Global Citizen (Organizations)

Showcasing of XP stories of interns to NGOs and clients.

Creation of EP welcome package.

Conceptualization on online IR building campaigns.

Content creation for online promotion of the brand of AIESEC in Manipal University.

iv. Global Talent (Organizations)

Showcasing of XP stories to corporate clients.

Creation of EP welcome package.

Page 20: Aditya Sriram, Applicant to the Office of LCP 2016-17

Attendance at corporate events and forums to build brand presence.

Promotion of the brand of Manipal University and creative campaigns to showcase the quality of the working environment.

v. Global Leaders

Online and physical promotions by showcasing membership experience. Showcasing of the value proposition of this programme and how it is relevant to the

students of our locality.

4.3. Comment on how you envision the role of Information Systems in the functioning and

administration of the Local Committee in 2016.

Information systems and Information management will play a key role in the upcoming year for the simple reason that these systems are built to ease and smoothen our jobs by helping us compile and understand relevant data, quickly and efficiently.

I believe it is upon us as an LC to incorporate and get accustomed to the information systems that we are provided with to constantly keep us on track towards achieving our goals. A strong IM culture needs to be driven down and I propose this be carried forward as a project by the Vice President for Talent Management for the upcoming year.

There are various aspects of information systems that we can leverage out of, to gain an advantage during our operations. These are:

Business Intelligence – Use of available data to understand trends and use the relevant data to execute plans with a greater efficiency.

Easier maintenance of all required data for Front office functioning (IR Trackers, EP details/portfolios, Search tools, AFTs, etc.)

Easier maintenance of databases and documents required by Back office (LC Database, Policy documents, Outputs from conferences, etc.)

Easier Client Relations Management

Information systems will play a major role in incorporating technology with our daily processes to improve efficiency. It is on us to drive down that culture and make full use of it.

5. Talent Management

5.1. Propose key projects for TM and L&D for the year 2016.

Recruitment

o Change in the recruitment model from competency based selection to a basis of selection where we gauge the alignment of a person’s learning objectives with the growth objectives of the organization.

o EP re-integration needs to be a solid source of membership as returned EPs would have had a more enriching experience to be able to understand the AIESEC products much better.

o Proposal of a task based recruitment system to gauge their skills much more effectively than through our current system.

Academy

o LnD to be driven down through LEADs delivered to the LC based on needs for the same.

o EP LEADs to add value to their experience and enhance EP engagement.

LC Culture

Page 21: Aditya Sriram, Applicant to the Office of LCP 2016-17

o Taking steps to improve the LC culture and improving membership experience.

o Regular LC forums, formal and informal.

Rewards and Recognition

o Systematic points based RnR system to ensure healthy competition amongst membership.

o Investments into developing such a system that can be re-used for years to come.

5.2. How do you see LDM contributing to 2016 and customer experiences? Propose a model for the

same

The Leadership Development Model needs to be implemented with every experience that we want to deliver because the end objective of every experience is to develop young global leaders. As long as we are able to incorporate this aspect into everything experience that we deliver, we will go a long way in achieving our organizational vision.

The LDM has four key aspects to it:

Self Aware

Empowering Others

Solution Oriented

World Citizen

Everyone undertaking an AIESEC programme must go through phases which realize these aspects.

| Specific Questionnaire

• They go through self awareness to understand the purpose of taking up the experience

Self Aware

• Effective communication to empower and educate more people

Empowering Others • Focused towards

achievinga certain vision during execution of tasks and showcases a risk taking attitude

Solution Oriented

• The impact phase where they become the positive change agents in the society.

World Citizen

1. How do you envision AIESEC in Manipal University at the end of your term? Please identify the most

important aspects of your vision and explain what strategies of the 2016 term will lead the

organisation to achieve them?

As of January 2017, I envision AIESEC in Manipal University as a pioneer of innovation and growth in the national network. I envision us to have overshot our targets and achieve our aim of providing quality experiences to every that we engage with. AIESEC in Manipal University would be identified as the first choice partner for exchanges and internships. We would have finally broken the barrier of a 100 outgoing exchanges and we would have understood the relevance of our exchange programmes and be able to relate it with our local reality. We would have begun our ascent towards a steady growth in the future.

“Taking ownership towards providing quality experiences by being the pioneers of growth and innovation. “ CHECK. This is our moment. We need to own it. Understanding the context of this statement would put us in the right direction as a Local Committee. We need to start taking ownership towards the Local Committee and the experiences that we provide. I believe that I have the passion, the drive and the vision to take this LC forward. I am here for a reason and that is to provide the same sort of brilliant experiences that I went through, to as many people as I can. I want to start creating that impact. I believe I can make a difference. I believe that AIESEC in Manipal University can make a difference.

2. Imagine 31st December 2016 is upon us. Write a letter to your successor, describing the year that was

and providing him/her a few key insights for the term he/she is about to begin.

Dear successor, I still remember the day when I put forth my vision for everyone to see. I believed that it was our time, our calling. AIESEC in Manipal University was going to change. All we had to do was believe, and own up and make sure that all of us as a part of this local committee rose together. And rise, we did. It has been a great year of action, success and growth! We had promised to deliver quality experiences and it is a promise that we kept. Our growth this year has finally seen our Local Committee being given a full membership status. Well, we seized our moment perfectly.

We owned it!

Congratulations on taking this bold step to lead this Local Committee as the 8th President of AIESEC in Manipal University! This role will definitely be the most intense role you would have taken up. At the same time, it will be the most enriching and rewarding as well. It will require you to sacrifice a lot for the sake of the betterment of the local committee and the organization as a whole. You will go through a journey of self-discovery and learning and it will completely change the way you look at things. Certain decisions will be extremely tough to make but, I trust that you will learn well enough to believe that your call is the right call. “Your actions, and your actions alone, determine you worth.” These are words to live by. Also, very importantly, never forget your vision. Everything you do, every step you take, every action, will need to align with your vision for the organization. With that, I shall leave you to it. I am sure that I have left the Local Committee in safe hands and I expect there to be more positive growth in the coming years. I wish you and your team all the very best for your terms. Remember, the LC always comes first. It’s your time to OWN IT!

Cheers! Regards, Aditya Sriram Local Committee President AIESEC in Manipal University 2016-17

3. Based on AIESEC’s Impact Model, what is AIESEC’s role in the society of Manipal University? Based

on that how can AIESEC in Manipal University become more relevant in Manipal and in the national

network.

AIESEC’s Impact Model: “Our international platform enables young people to discover and develop their potential to provide leadership for a positive impact on society.” AIESEC’s impact model aims at providing the society with change agents. These change agents are the young people who experience their leadership journey with the help of a challenging environment provided by AIESEC through its international platform. In our local reality, we can empower such individuals who create a positive impact on society. This is how we can do it. The students of Manipal University are given an opportunity to take up an experiential leadership development role through AIESEC. The challenging environment provided at an exchange or a TMP/TLP experience helps the individual grow and develop a leadership aspect in their personality. These experiences create global leaders who can relate to issues in our locality and our country and their learnings can be used to solve these issues. These opportunities also provide an entrepreneurial experience to those who choose to take them up. This is exactly what a majority of the students of Manipal University are looking for, along with international exposure and a global working environment. AIESEC provides all of the above. That is how AIESEC in Manipal University is relevant in our local reality. The more of these experiences we provide, the more we contribute towards AIESEC India’s goals. Moreover, being the first University based Local Committee in AIESEC India; we need to be the pioneers of growth and innovation amongst all the University based Local Committees. That is how AIESEC in Manipal University is relevant in the national network.

Page 24: Aditya Sriram, Applicant to the Office of LCP 2016-17

Showcase the year 2015, the steps leading to 2016 and how will 2016 be for the Local Chapter, should you become the Local Committee President in 2016. This space is completely open.

THE RACE TO 200 IS ON.

Page 25: Aditya Sriram, Applicant to the Office of LCP 2016-17

AIESEC in Manipal University has been existent for over 6 years now, yet we haven’t been able to establish ourselves as the First Choice Partners for Leadership Development and International Exchanges. Suggest that ONE idea/initiative that can turn the tables and help our Local Committee achieve it’s true potential.

BIOGRAPHY Aditya Sriram was born in New Delhi and raised in India and the Middle East. If you were to ask him where he was from, he’d say – no idea. Aditya spent his childhood years in Delhi and since then. He, along with his family, went on to live in 7 different cities in India and abroad. The very fact that he has moved around so much has made him adjustable and moulded him into someone who adapted to change and embraced everything that came his way. Aditya was a bright student since his early academic years and continued to be so. He showed an early interest in Computers. He regularly participated in national Olympiads and competitions. He won many quizzes and competitions at his junior, middle and high school levels. In his 12th grade, he, along with his team, stood 5th nationally in the Oxford-Brooke University Essay and paper presentation challenge. He was always passionate about computers therefore followed this interest of his to take up the IT course in engineering. Along with his course he managed very well with extra curriculars as he always learnt to never let go any opportunity that came his way. One of them being AIESEC. Aditya joined AIESEC in January 2013 on the say so of a friend of his in Delhi. He was very aloof in his first month in AIESEC and had no idea about what was happening around him. He then heard about the June National Conference from the very same friend and he was motivated to attend it. He then became a Team Leader in oGIP and went on to attend JNC. That was the defining moment for him, he came back as a completely changed man. He learnt a lot about AIESEC and was inspired to do the best he could. He met a lot of people at JNC and little did he know how important these people would go on to be in his life. He then came back to Manipal with a renewed passion to work towards delivering good leadership experiences. He finished the year as a TL in oGIP and helped the department achieve a 400% growth in 2014. He then applied to the Executive Body but didn’t get selected. Though he was disappointed he didn’t give up and then went on to take various local and national roles and did well in them. He was eventually inducted into the Executive Body as Vice President oGCDP. He was put in charge of the biggest focus programme for the year. This is where he has had his most challenging experience thus far. Since then there was no looking back for him. His biggest learning was to own each moment and live it to the fullest. Further he went on to attend RYLC 2014 and that is when he realized that AIESEC for him was all about experiences. With that thought in mind, he is currently running for the post of Local Committee President of AIESEC in Manipal University to redefine the local chapter and take it to greater heights. He is ready to seize his moment, stand up for his beliefs and his vision and OWN IT!

Page 30: Aditya Sriram, Applicant to the Office of LCP 2016-17

To whomsoever it may concern This is to endorse Mr. Aditya Sriram as a candidate for the office of Local Committee President of AIESEC in Manipal University for the year 2016.

I have personally seen Aditya grow as a member and as a person in the year 2013 and 2014. During the year 2013, when I was LCVP oGIP I had the privilege of leading him as my Team Member and subsequently Team Leader for a full year. Following this, I was in team leader in the form Local Committee President while he was LCVP oGCDP for the year 2014. He remains one of the core reasons for ensuring a 400% growth in oGIP in the year 2013 thereby allowing AIESEC in Manipal University to become the Most Progressive LC in oGIP for that year. I still remember how he always looked on the bright side of things during the beginning of Q3 to ensure we attained the aforementioned achievement.

His passion to excel is beyond parallel as well as his endless desire to learn from every single experience is inspiring. He has grown immensely from a shy South-‐Indian boy to once of the greatest leaders produced by AIESEC in Manipal University. He is an extremely hardworking and dedicated person. His attention to detail, determined mindset and clear essentials aligns with his interests and skills make him the kind of leader who learns from his mistakes, listens to people around him and thereby constantly evolves him.

Hence I truly believe Aditya is very well suited for to be a candidate for the office of Local Committee President and has all the competencies and the vision required to make AIESEC in Manipal University reach new heights.

I wish him all the very best for the same.

Regards

Yours sincerely,

TO WHOMSOEVER IT MAY CONCERN 06th October 2015 Subject: Letter of Endorsement for the Candidature of Aditya Sriram to the office of Local Committee President of AIESEC in Manipal University. It is my pleasure to be writing this letter to endorse the candidature of Aditya Sriram to the Office of Local Committee President of AIESEC in Manipal University for the year 2016-17. September 2014 is when I had my first interaction with AIESEC as a member. I was scared and did not know much about how things go around in the organization. Having had the opportunity to work under Aditya at the very beginning of my journey was the best possible thing that could have happened to me. From him being a great mentor as my Vice President to being so very supportive and encouraging as our Chief Del at RYLC, he has always stood out. I cannot express how much I’ve learnt from him throughout my experience and how much I’ve grown looking up to him. He has this never dying passion and dedication towards AIESEC that constantly inspires me to endeavour. He’s the perfect example of a facilitator who has impacted the experience of every person he led. AIESEC in Manipal University can do wonders; all the members have the

potential to take it forward and create a legacy, and while saying this, the only person who comes to my mind who can lead this LC as our President for the coming year is Aditya Sriram. Having attended five conferences, with him being a part of all of them and watching him take up a plethora of different roles, he inspires me to strive for excellence. He has been the perfect example for ‘learning by doing’ and continues to be.

Experiences Inspire Integrity.

In the age old debate of whether leaders are born or made, these three words pass the decisive

judgment for me. This isn’t merely my belief, for me it’s a life lesson that AIESEC has opened my eyed to

time and time again. These are the exact words that come to my mind when I think Aditya’s AIESEC

journey.

For the last three years this organization has been at the fulcrum of his being. From our first team

meeting in AIESEC ,to fighting over EBMs, hosting events, applying for LCP together, deciding to re-term

and to having to take decisions in the fear of this LC shutting down, I have worked alongside him for

almost every role he has taken up in AIESEC .

With the countless friendships, memories and the strength that he has derived from these, it is evident

that AIESEC has become more than just an organization to him; it is an essential part of who he is today.

I have seen Aditya re-invent himself at each milestone. Every challenge, every experience has inspired

something deep within him. The words “the LC comes first “isn’t just a fancy phrase anymore, they have

been the guiding stone of every major decision he have taken, including his application to the office of

the Local Committee President 2016-17.

In all regards I have been impressed how genuinely he cares about both the people and the results, and

always looks for strategic ways to achieve the best for both. He has the ability to understand what is

important and bring people together to make it happen.

His burning flame of passion for this entity is guided by years of experiences that bring a deep

understanding of what this LC truly needs. I believe that if elected as the LCP, he will lead the revolution

that AIESEC India has been waiting for AIESEC in Manipal University to bring about.

It is with great pleasure that I endorse Aditya Sriram for the role of LCP of AIESEC in Manipal University.

Sincerely,

Shreya Singhal

Page 34: Aditya Sriram, Applicant to the Office of LCP 2016-17

To whom it may concern, I am writing this as a form of recommendation and to deliver my support to Aditya Sriram’s application as the Local Committee President candidate of AIESEC in Manipal University for term 2016/2017. We met each other back in June National Conference (JNC) 2014 at Goa. I was the first Exchange Participant (EP) from LC Manipal University to join their delegation and that is when I got to interact with Aditya the most. It was my first time being an EP in an international conference, and I was glad to have Aditya and the team to take care of me throughout and even after the conference. Upon returning to Manipal from JNC, Aditya was also one of those who stayed back and did extra intern servicing to the EPs during the semester break. Despite my short stay, I was able to see a few outstanding personalities of Aditya as a friendly, caring. and active leader. During JNC, Aditya showed great leadership especially in initiating and facilitating discussions among team members; where he listens and guides the team members accordingly which is an important trait that a LCP should possessed. Besides, he was kind and patient enough to answer my doubts on AIESEC in India operational topics whenever I went for OGX functional sessions. Another thing worth mentioning is the positiveness that he showed when we were discussing about potential LCLC partnership between LC Manipal University and my home LC in Malaysia. He was openminded enough to accept suggestions from my side and tried his best to produce the best deal which benefits both sides. My observation might sounds general since I only get to know Aditya for short, but the strong personality that he portrayed is impressive enough to make me remember for long (even till now). I believe Aditya’s working ability is proven from his past terms as LCVP and with all the personalities mentioned above, he will be able to lead to the betterment of LC Manipal University in the upcoming term. Hereby, I am pleased to endorse Aditya for the position of Local Committee President and I wish him all the best! Yours Sincerely,

Emily Oi Yen Tse ExExchange Participant of AIESEC in Manipal University, AIESEC in India Alumni Member of AIESEC in The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus, AIESEC in Malaysia

Letter of Endorsement

To whomsoever it may concern

It is my pleasure to endorse my son, Aditya Sriram, as an applicant to the office of Local

Committee President of AIESEC in Manipal University for the year 2016-17.

Over the last two years, due to his association with AIESEC , I have seen Aditya grow much

stronger as a person. He gained a lot of confidence and has picked up a lot of skills like man

management , communication , presentation , business development and networking . All

this has made him more mature and confident .

He is very passionate about AIESEC and believes that he can create the same impact on

others as the President of the local office of this organization. He hopes to continue honing

the leadership aspect of his personality to a much greater extent.

He is constantly willing to challenge the status quo. His curiosity , creativity and willingness

to learn, his passion and determination, all make him an ideal candidate for this post.

I believe that he will give his best, if elected, and I will be there to support him throughout

his term. Even though he has been placed in Mu Sigma , he feels that he would learn more

as the President of AIESEC . I believe that he will learn a lot and have given him my blessings

to go ahead .

Yours sincerely
