ADIB Covered Cards with Chip & PIN

Welcome to a more secure way to pay.

Chip & PIN is the new, more secure way of paying for many things you need on

a daily basis.

Chip & PIN has been introduced to combat the growing levels of fraud worldwide.

It is a much more secure method of payment than simply signing a receipt as it

gives you the additional security of a personal four digit PIN number that only

you know.

So what is Chip & PIN?Here are some frequently asked questions that may help you to understand a

little bit more about Chip & PIN:

Q: What does PIN mean?

A: PIN stands for Personal Identification Number. It is a special number,

unique to you that allows you to withdraw cash from the cash machine and

to pay for things in shops where Chip & PIN is accepted.

Q: How do I pay for things with it?

A: Its really easy to use your Chip & PIN Card. Simply check that the retailer

accepts Visa, select the goods you want to buy and take them to the

checkout as usual. At the till, you may see a small device or machine with

a keypad, a screen and a slot to insert your Card. To pay, simply place your

Card into the slot, check the amount on the screen and then enter yourPIN. Alternatively the merchant may ask for your Card and place it in the

machine for you. You will be given a receipt as usual as proof of purchase.

Q: Can I change my PIN number?

A: Yes you can change your PIN at any ADIB ATM machine. Simply enter your

current PIN to get started, select Change PIN and follow the promptson screen. If you do change your PIN, please make sure its not easy for

anyone else to guess, so avoid obvious numbers like telephone numbers and

birthdays or sequences like 5555 or 1234.

Q: How can I make sure I remember my PIN number?

A: Here are a few hints and tips that may help:

Use a combination of a friends birthday or an anniversary so its easier torecall but hard for someone to guess.

Remember the four digits in two lots of two digits.

Learn the pattern the numbers make on the keypad rather than the

numbers themselves.

Its really easy to use Chip & PIN.

Step 1 Look

Where you see the Visa sign you can useyour Visa Chip & PIN Card if the Point of Saledevice is Chip enabled.

Step 2 BuyChoose the item you would like to buy andtake it to the till.

Step 3 InsertThe cashier will ask you to insert your Cardinto the Point of Sale device at the till.

Step 4 Enter PINEnter your PIN and wait for an OK to appearon the screen.

Q: Can I tell anyone my PIN number?

A: No. Your PIN keeps your account secure so you must never reveal it to

anyone. To be extra safe, make sure you never write it down, and you should

never reveal it when you purchase online, over the phone or by post.

Q: Can I use my Chip & PIN Card abroad?

A: Chip & PIN is quickly becoming an accepted form of payment worldwide

so you are likely to be able to use it in many countries you may visit. So

do make sure you can remember your PIN - you may not be able to make

purchases without it.

Q: What if my PIN gets locked?

A: If you enter your PIN incorrectly three times your Card will become locked

out. This is to protect you in case your Card is lost or stolen and someone

else is trying to use it. To unlock your Card call us on 8002288.
