‘Our purpose is to grow a profitable group that adds value to our customer’s businesses, maintains a safe ethical working environment and is an organisation that people aspire to work for.’

Firstly, I would like to take the opportunity to personally say thank you for all of your help, support and continued hard work throughout 2015 which was our most successful year as a business to date. Last year was an extremely memorable one with our 25th Anniversary Conference, November Senior Management Away Day and of course, achieving three award wins. A remarkable

achievement for the Group which we hope to continue to build on in 2016.

In 2016, we are continuing to invest in both new and existing companies to further diversify our existing portfolio of services. In November 2015, we welcomed adi Power Solutions International to the Group together with adi Waste Systems. adi Power Solutions will provide fully engineered equipment, including various switchgear and packaged container equipment within the Power Generation and Oil and Gas Sectors both in the UK and Overseas, whilst adi Waste Systems will oversee our Sotkon underground storage system partnership for the distribution of underground waste solutions within the UK and Ireland. Both divisions complement our existing service offering as well as open up the Group to new applications and opportunities.

We are also delighted to announce that adi Automation and adi Projects are both established as limited companies in their own right. This decision was made to give both divisions their own internal identity and clearly defined market identity. Over recent years, we have focused on extending capabilities, and cultivating a diverse skill set within both divisions which has enabled us to increase our capacity and take on a broader range and size of projects. The move will enable greater specialisation and flexibility for future development and, we are confident that this will add further value to existing and future customers’ requirements.

This year we will also look to further develop our continuous improvement programme after encouraging progress in 2015. Moving forward, we are looking to increase employee engagement and further integrate our employees into this process. A new ‘One Team’ initiative will be launched very soon which is centred on our people and their development. The programme is designed to engage and inspire current and future employees as well as cement our investment in staff skills development and celebrating employee achievements. Watch this space for more information.

We continue to review our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and look to further develop our CSR programme following a very successful year. Our key focus in 2016, will be on our investment in the local community as we look to create further opportunities in engineering for young people. As we enter the third year of a Business in the Community partnership with North Bromsgrove High School, we are in the process of developing an innovative pre-Apprenticeship qualification aimed at 14-16 year olds. The concept presents us with a unique platform to enhance the learning experience and skills development of the new generation of talent seeking opportunities within engineering.

Thank you all for your continued hard work and efforts across the Group. 2016 promises to be another exciting year for the Group and I look forward to the challenge of taking the Group to the next level through our new initiatives.

Latest Group News10 Years And Counting; adi Ireland Talks Growth, New Services and New ClientsAndrew Dunne (Managing Director) gives us the low down on all things adi Ireland as the company enters into its 10th year of operations.2016 is proving already to be a very busy year for adi Ireland on a number of different fronts.

Our two newest clients Baxter Healthcare and Ornua are moving ahead swiftly with their respective expansions and new facilities. The Ornua facility will be fitted with the latest technologies and equipment as it produces the iconic Kerrygold brand of butter for the first time. adi personnel have already spent time in Germany and the UK to familiarise themselves with the butter process and equipment in preparation. In March 2016 we see the closure of the Mondelez

Tallaght Facility, this site being one of our first in Ireland and certainly has over that time has contributed in setting the benchmark for Total Facility Management and OEE. A sincere thanks to all of the team past and present.

As we have taken on new contracts and services, our staff numbers have grown significantly, together with our skills base and expertise. Off the back of these developments, we are excited to be introducing a number of new services in 2016 to coincide with our growth into new sectors and clients - particularly in the areas of Building Integration and Compressor services with support from our compressor team in the UK. We are also expecting to open a new office in Galway during the month of February which will expand our regional presence across to the West of Ireland.

This year we also find ourselves celebrating our 10th year of operations here in Ireland in September. It only seems like yesterday since we began operations in Ireland. During this time we have grown steadily, we have sustained those early contracts, all of which has been a testament to all of our staff. Our growth continues and 2016 is expected to be exciting. So let’s look forward to a busy and rewarding year, the introduction of our new clients and services, and the implementation of other continuous improvement and innovative programs and solutions. Watch this space for more news and updates!

The New Division On The Blockadi Power Solutions International is the latest addition to our growing portfolio of engineering services for industry. We caught up with Managing Director, Ramin Esfandiarinia to learn more about what the new division has to offer.

adi Power Solutions will provide fully engineered equipment, including various switchgear and packaged container equipment within the Power Generation and Oil and Gas Sectors both in the UK and Overseas. This will be achieved by utilising the knowledge and capabilities both within the Group and, through a number of external partners providing an exciting and new platform within the aforementioned sectors.

With the high level of in-house capabilities available, the new division will offer a range of solutions from a single panel to a complete turnkey project. Its core offering will focus on electrical power solution design, supplying equipment such as; Motor Control Centres, LV Switchboards, Equipment Control Rooms/Package substations, Power Management & SCADA Systems and Containerised Generator packages.

Alan Lusty comments: “With Ramin’s extensive experience and background, we look forward to the new market sectors and opportunities he will bring to the Group across the UK and overseas through adi Power Solutions International.”

adi Healy Compressor Services Expands Service OfferingFormed in 2007 and fully-integrated into the Group in 2011, adi Healy Compressor Services continues to expand its service offering, adding further value to both new and existing clients. With new legislation specifying that locations using breathing air must have the quality tested at least every 12 months, it seemed natural for the team to evolve its offering to support client requirements in this area. In addition to Air Quality Testing, we can also provide audits of vacuum systems to ensure that systems are fully optimised and consume the minimum amount of energy.

The new services are already making a huge difference to our clients’ energy usage. A recent project for a drinks can manufacturer saw savings of 37Kw per hour following the installation of three variable speed vacuum pumps. Based on energy cost of 9p per KW this is the equivalent to £28,500 per annum providing the customer with a two year pay back.

SmartText Solution A Hit At Worcester Warriorsadi Telecom recently delivered a SmartText SMS Solution designed to improve fan engagement with Worcester Warriors RFC. adi Telecom’s SmartText products run off a Cloud SmartText products run off a Cloud based mobile engagement platform and are designed specifically for creating interactive services and marketing campaigns via SMS Text messaging. The SmartText platform is a valuable marketing tool for almost any business and can serve as both a simple way of reminding customers of key business updates, as well as reaching full scale Mobile Engagement across HTML interactive advertising.

Since working with adi Telecom, the club now has further plans to utilise SMS as part of their wider engagement with fans in 2016 and comments; “We have used SMS messaging to communicate information such as Half-Season Tickets, Community coaching courses and general important Club messages. The Engage platform is a cost effective way of reaching supporters quickly and effectively. We have found SMS to be very user friendly and a good way of engaging with our supporters.”

Sales Team Update 2016 is poised to be another successful year for the adi sales team, with a new addition to the team in January, a clear vision of what the team are aiming to achieve during the year, continued development of our CRM system and new divisions of adi Group to introduce to prospective and existing customers. James Smith (Group Sales Manager) explains more. The sales team has grown since 2014 and now has members from adi Automation, adi Electrical, adi Environmental, adi Healy Compressor Services, adi Projects and adi TEGG Service. In January we welcomed Imran Ahmed (Business Development Manager, adi Environmental) to the team. With over five years’ experience in the water treatment industry, a BSc in Chemistry along with BS3, BS6 and Water Treatment Society qualifications, Imran’s role will be to further develop a number of our existing key accounts, along with generating new business opportunities within adi Group core markets.

One of the key objectives for the sales team during 2016, is adopting and internalising the “adi One Team” approach of working. Whilst the sales team work for different divisions, having one common set of goals and objectives for the year, provides us with a clear vision of what we want to achieve and gives us defined targets to measure our performance against.

The vision and objectives agreed upon are;• Increasingourcallrates, customerfacingtime, opportunity volume/value and order volume/value• IncreasingourknowledgeofadiGroupservices and capability• Internalisingthe“adiOneTeam”approach• IncreasingthepromotionofadiGroupthroughvarious marketing streams including social media

In 2014, we invested in the Salesforce CRM system to provide a centralised platform to manage customer interactions of the team. The continued development of this system has provided visibility of interactions at over 1,200 clients, 80% being new business prospects. This visibility provides valuable insight into where our future client base is located, which industries they operate within and what resources may be required to support their requirements. By using the CRM system, the sales team are able to efficiently plan their schedules and have visibility of client interactions, aiding to their adoption of the “One Team” approach.

#OneTeamEngineering Our Growth

Following our successful conference in October 2014, ninety of the Group’s Operational Managers and Sales Teams once again came together to further build on our Group-wide Continuous Improvement Programme. The day focused on Marketing and Communications, Public Relations, Social Media, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and, improving knowledge of adi Group’s core services featuring guest speakers from within the Group, speed-networking with each Managing Director, to share expertise, knowledge and opportunities across the Group. The outcomes were many and following the event attendees left with greater knowledge and understanding of the Group’s continuous improvement initiatives and how they can contribute to this.

One of the big highlights of the day was the tricky and extremely competitive Marble Challenge whereby teams of eight were tasked with devising a track consisting of a loop-the-loop, straights, bends and funnel. The catch was that aside from templates for the various sections of track, the only resources each team had were two rolls of miniature sellotape and two pairs of scissors – and the engineering expertise within their respective teams! The task required delegation, sufficient management due to the short window of time to complete the task as well as effective production lines and assembly processes for each section of the track pieces. The aim was to have the slowest time for the marble to reach the end of the track and after some heated deliberation (and friendly inter-Group rivalry!) the winning team was declared as Team

10; Paul Hart (adi Projects), Mike Everard, (Aquapak), Michael Hepburn (adi FM), Nick Owen (adi Electrical), Paul Davison (adi Automation), and Simon Tapsell (adi Automotive Services).

As a means of demonstrating our commitment to CSR and sustainability we donated £500 (£1 for each CSR Brochure printed) to the Forest of Hearts to help plant 100 trees. The Forest of Hearts is a new charity dedicated to creating sustainable agroforestry projects. And if that wasn’t enough, by succeeding in the One Team challenge set on the day, we also donated £1980 to our new chosen charity of the year Heart Research UK.

To date the Group’s Continuous Improvement Programme has demonstrated over £600,000 of return on investment and we look to continue this through into 2016 and beyond.

BITC Ready For Work Placement Successadi continues to work closely with BITC via their Ready For Work Programme. In 2015, a number of individuals were taken on permanently following successful work placements. Two of our latest success stories are Esther, who is now a full time member of the adi Group Admin team and, Nyron who joined us on placement before Christmas and impressed our team so much that we decided to offer him an Apprenticeship within adi Healy Compressor Services. Esther and Nyron are both settling in well and already making an impact within their respective teams.

Gary Bailey (Business Development Manager) comments:

“Nyron is a quick learner and always tries to learn more each day. We were so impressed with his time keeping and attitude. We have offered him an apprenticeship training programme. Once completed he will a qualified Compressor Service Engineer.

Thanks must go to the BITC Team for finding Nyron and allowing us to see his full potential. He will be mentored by our very own Simon Smith and working closely with all of our Engineers.”

adi Group were invited to present and form part of the panel at the CBI West Midlands Education and Skills Conference. Our Business In The Community ‘Business Class’ Partner, North Bromsgrove High School was highlighted as an excellent practical example of where a school and company are working together to develop pupils and their skill sets to make them more attractive to potential employers.James Sopwith (Group Sales and Marketing Director), was a key speaker on the subject of “The inspiration agenda – what is the role for businesses?” During his presentation,

he outlined how the Group has been working with North Bromsgrove High School and Business in the Community over the last few years. This has included engineering and careers orientated days with pupils, as well as Tina Lusty’s (Group Secretary) becoming a governor of the school.

David Hadley-Pryce, Head Teacher, North Bromsgrove High School comments: “Our partnership with the adi Group, now in its third year, is critical to our development in preparing our young people for a successful future. The insight we have gained into the importance of contact with employers at an early stage of students’ education is now inspiring much of our future planning and the partnership is at the core of the school’s transformation.”

CSR Round-Up QHSE UpdateRoy Cumberworth (adi Group QHSE & IT Director) gives us the latest update on all things QHSE in what promises to be a busy year for the QHSE team with the release of updated Quality (ISO9001 : 2015), Health and Safety (ISO45001) and Environmental (ISO14001 : 2015) standards. Our target is to have these fully implemented across the Group by the end of 2016.adi Automation Limited, adi Projects Limited and adi Power Solutions International Limited will be working towards their ISO 9001 certification in March / April 2016. On completion, this will mean that every company in the adi Group will be registered to ISO 9001.Looking ahead to the remainder of the year, in Q3 and Q4 a number of divisions that already have their ISO9001 (Quality) and OHAS18001 (Health & Safety) certifications will have their annual surveillance visits. Good Luck to all involved in these processes.

adi Apprentice Academy Day A Successadi Apprentices from across the Group gathered at Head Office at the end of January for an Academy Day hosted by Academy Manager Graham Bond and HR/CSR Manager Lorna Quigley.Alan Lusty kicked off the day with a short presentation to Apprentices where he outlined the Group’s intentions to have 5% of our workforce as Apprentices by 2020.

As part of phase two of the Group’s ‘Think Safe, Work Safe, Home Safe’ campaign rollout, guest speaker Larry Ryder gave the Apprentices the low down on all things Health & Safety to raise awareness and reinforce safe conduct in the workplace.

One of the highlights of the day was the team building session which saw our Apprentices split into two teams to take on the Marble Challenge. All Apprentices displayed excellent team work and project management skills, devising production lines, quality checks and clearly defined roles for each team member – as well as plenty of competitive spirit and friendly rivalry! The results were close, but Team B emerged as the winners with their marble taking eight seconds to reach the bottom.

The plan going forward is to make our Apprentice meet-up sessions more regular and we hope to keep you informed of how our Apprentices are progressing in the coming weeks and months.

adi Group Football Team Edge Out Rivals Cundalls In Topsy-Turvy Derby!adi’s resident football team have opened the season style with victory over local rivals (and fellow engineering firm), Cundall. Competitive debuts were handed to adi Environmental’s newcomer Imran Ahmed, and adi TEGG Service guru Ashley Sweet who rounded off adi’s strongest side to date.

adi Group started the more positive of the two sides, with goals coming in quick succession from Ryan and Varun Sarna (adi Climate Systems). Cundalls struck back with 2 of their own, levelling in the 15th minute, with a sweet long range effort, beating adi keeper Naveel Hussain (adi Group). At one point, adi Group were 7-4 up, with Vaz being put through on goal.

Unfortunately Cundalls’ keeper, regained form and pulled off a world class save from nowhere. With renewed confidence, Cundalls’ were able to pull to score back to 8-8, with the help (four times) from our very own Naveel Hussain. In the closing

stages of the game, Manish Bedi (adi Climate Systems alumni) darted forward, and was able to capitalise on a mistake by Cundalls rearguard, putting adi Group ahead.

Thankfully the resolute defence of Faz Kazi (adi Group) and Imran ensured that the adi team were able to see out the game in dying minutes.

All players were pleased with a tough fought victory, with the final score adi Group 9-8 Cundalls. If you would like to join the adi Football Team please contact Varun at; [email protected]
