Spring Activities

Monday Ceramics Explore 3-dimensional projects in ceramics through creative slab building, coiling, and varied sculpture techniques. Once your work is fired, you will learn how to add color using glazes for the final firing. Class Fee: $39.00 Music Therapy We’ll have a music therapist join you for some jam sessions. Eric Ahlteen specializes in interactive music, and will invite you to pick up an instrument and sing along. Class Fee: Free

Boxing & Strength Training Boxing offers a full body workout, and will allow you to step outside your comfort zone. You’ll be at Punch Fitness each week to work out with Chief Logan, owner and personal trainer. Workout attire is required

Delaware YMCA Visit the Delaware YMCA each week to access their amazing swimming pool, workout facilities, indoor track, and more! This is a great way to try out something new, and work towards becoming a healthier you! Workout attire is required

Geocaching Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache hidden at that location. Outdoor attire is required Class Fee: Free Blacksmithing & Metal Art Your group will work with Adlai Stein, owner of Macabee Metals, every other week at the Columbus Idea Foundry. You will learn the historic art of Blacksmithing, through hands on experience and instruction. Closed Toe Shoes are required Class Fee: $150.00

Book Club Love to get lost in a book? The focus of this group is to reach readers of all abilities, and bring them to-gether to read, share, and connect. Class Fee: Free

Tai Chi An Ancient Chinese exercise, Tai Chi is a system of mediation, physical coordination, health, self defense and raising consciousness. You will work with Ro-Z Mendelson , a certified Tai Chi master. Workout attire is required

Jewelry Design This class will teach you how to make everything from beaded necklaces to glass fused earrings. You’ll have the opportunity to make some truly unique pieces and explore your creative side. Class Fee: $39.00 Billiards Learn to play 8 ball and 9 ball at HP Lanes. If you already know how to play, this is your chance to perfect your skills. If you’re just starting out, our staff will teach you the rules and techniques of the game. Class Fee: $26.00 Community Outreach - Help House If you are looking for the opportunity to volunteer and truly give back, then this is the group for you. You’ll spend the day at the Help House, which is an outreach providing emergency services for those in need. Outdoor attire is required Class Fee: Free Yoga & Meditative Art This class offers you the chance to work with our on-site Yoga Therapist, Maggie Fekete. Maggie is pas-sionately dedicated to providing you with the positive

support necessary to achieve optimal health and flexi-bility. Class Fee: Free

Gardening & Healthy Eating Expert gardener, Eric Ahlteen, will immerse you in a hands on gardening workshop at his farm. You will learn the basics of gardening, planning, preparing, planting, maintaining, harvest and preparing the garden for healthy eating. Outdoor attire is required Class Fee: $65.00

The Silver Screen Love action, comedy, romance? You’ll check out the latest movies at various theaters around Columbus. It’s a great way to get to know people and discover common interests. Class Fee: $65.00

Wood working 101 You will be working with Eric Lanese at the Colum-bus Idea Foundry to learn all about woodworking. He will provide you the opportunity to learn how to use the equipment and create unique pieces to take home. Closed Toe Shoes are required Class Fee: $150.00

Swimming Shake those winter blues at the pool! You’ll spend the day at the Columbus Aquatics Center taking part in pool games or just taking a relaxing swim. It’s up to you! Swimming attire and towel required

Drawing & Painting Studio art class experience focusing on drawing/painting from observation, exploration of materials, processes and the use of color. You will spend your day at Ventures Studio, Addventures’ offsite art studio at 400 West Rich St. Class Fee: $39.00

Art Therapy Art Therapy uses the creative process to reduce stress and increase self awareness. you will explore your creative side through drawing, painting, sculpture, and other art forms. Class Fee: Free

Bowling League Join our ever growing Addventures Bowling league at HP Lanes! Each week you’ll team up for some friendly competition. The staff of HP will provide you with your weekly standings. Class Fee: $65.00

Aromatherapy & Guided Meditation Aromatherapy is a practice that utilizes therapeutic plant extracts called “essential oils” to evoke the body’s own inherent healing power. You’ll create your own blends and products. After that, you'll relax through Guided Meditation with Maggie Fekete. Class Fee: Free

Balanced Yoga This gentle and light-hearted community class welcomes students of all experience levels. Students are encouraged to move slowly and compassionately through basic postures, modifying and exploring the use of props as needed. Workout attire is required Class Fee: Free

Let’s Get Crafty This class invites you to engage, explore, and experiment with a wide variety of crafts. From wine cork projects to basket weaving, you will learn it all in this hands on group. Class Fee: Free

5K Runners Club Taking part in the sport of running will not only improve your health, but build your confidence. Your group will take part in the RadioU 5k on 5/19/17 . Push yourself and become an Addventurous Sole! Workout attire is required Class Fee: $30.00

American Sign Language This class is designed to develop the skills and knowledge needed to communicate in American Sign Language. This course introduces basic sign language vocabulary and fingerspelling. In addition, students will be introduced to aspects of American Deaf culture and history. Class Fee: Free

Stained & Fused Glass This class introduces students to the art of stained glass. You will learn how cut and shape the glass, foil each piece, and solder the pieces together into beautiful works of art. Class Fee: $39.00 Martial Arts Led by 7th Degree Black Belt, Chief Master Mitch Ellis and a staff of Certified Instructors, Dragon E’s is a diverse training facility providing traditional instruction in TaeKwonDo and other Martial Arts styles. Horseback Riding You’ll spend the day at Field of Dreams, a therapeu-tic riding center, where you’ll have the opportunity to learn the basics of horseback riding. You will also assist with caring for the horses. This is truly a unique opportunity. Outdoor attire is required Class Fee: $104.00

Indoor Wall Climbing & Education At Vertical Adventures climbers will learn top rope and bouldering basics at their own pace while having a blast and enjoying the physically and mentally challenging sport of Climbing. Workout attire is required Class Fee: $150.00

History of Columbus Learn about the rich history of the city we call home. Each week you will discover the story behind a Columbus neighborhood, and then your group will explore it as it is today. Class Fee: Free

*Overcoming Obstacles The Overcoming Obstacles course is about the life skills that are relevant to success at home, with peers, and on the job. This class will help you iden-tify your personal barriers, and will provide you with the tools to overcome them. Class Fee: Free

Art Through the Ages Most people are familiar with the different types of art mediums, but what about art history? Art spans thousands of years. In this class, you’ll learn about the different types of art and artists that have spanned the ages, create beautiful pieces of artwork influenced by their styles, techniques and characteristics. Class Fee: Free

Trash to Treasure In this class you will be creating art by repurposing things that you may consider to be trash or no longer useable in their current form. You’ll work together with your group to create a new piece each week. These collaborative pieces will be put up for sale through Ventures Art Studio. Class Fee: Free

Camping & Survival Skills Learn to set up camp, read a compass, start a fire and more. This is a great chance to learn something new and spend time in the great outdoors. At the end of the quarter, your group will apply everything you’ve learned on an overnight camping trip. Class Fee: $10.00

Basketball This is a great chance to get some exercise and have some fun at courts around Columbus. You’ll learn the rules of the game, as well as, essential skills, such as dribbling, passing, and shooting. Workout attire is required Class Fee : Free

Get Fit All levels are welcome in this group fitness class. Each class will take place at the Franklin Park Adventure Center, which offers modifications to help you work at an intensity appropriate for your fitness abilities and goals. Workout attire is required Class Fee: Free

The Weekend Kickoff This group is the best way to kick off your weekend! From the Columbus Zoo to Dave and Buster’s, you’ll do it all! Columbus is full of places to explore. Check out the attached schedule to see what you’ll be doing. Class Fee: $73.49

Community Outreach - Furniture Bank The Mission of the Furniture Bank of Central Ohio is to provide furniture to central Ohio families and individuals struggling with poverty and other severe life challenges. Outdoor attire is required Class Fee: Free

Addventures Activity Funds Procedure

Effective Date: 11/7/14

Updated: 10/30/14

Title: Addventures Activity Funds Procedure

Purpose: The purpose for this procedure is to have a clear, effective, and agreed upon procedure for the

handling of Addventures Participant Funds.

Process:

1.Based upon activities selected by the participant, the Case Specialist will send notice to the participant’s contact with the

amount needed for the upcoming quarter.

2.Funds should be sent to Addventures, 742 Brooksedge Plaza Dr. Westerville, OH 43081 or hand delivered to

Addventures. Addventures’ Transportation Drivers are not permitted to deliver funds to Addventures on the behalf of

participants.

3.Checks and money orders must state the participant’s full name.

4.Funds must be received by the first day of the quarter. If funds are not received, the participant will be enrolled in a free

activity based on availability.

5.Receipt of payment will be provided upon request. If requested, receipts may be sent home with the participant or mailed to

the appropriate contact person.

6.Upon receiving the participant’s payment, it will be put into the participant’s Activity Account.

7.Case Specialist will withdraw activity fees from participant’s Addventures Daily Activity Funds Journal as activities occur.

a.If a participant is absent, funds will not be withdrawn

b. If a participant is placed in another group, funds will be withdrawn per that activity fee.

8.After the last day of the quarter, the participant’s contact will be notified of their account balance. Remaining funds may be

used towards the next quarter’s activities.

The funds Addventures agrees to hold will be used to pay for participant’s activities and items agreed upon in writing by the

participant’s team. These funds will not be used to purchase lunch, unless noted in writing. If not addressed in writing, lunches may

be purchased with extra money carried by the participant for that purpose. The participant will be responsible for this

money. Addventures will not be responsible for any additional funds not associated with the funds held in the participant’s

Addventures will be closed.

Please note: Addventures will be unable to provide transportation in any county that is under

a level 2 or 3 snow emergency.

Addventures Transportation Reminders

AM TRANSPORTATION TIMES:

Ensure you are ready for Addventures pick-up between

8:30 AM – 10:00 AM. The driver may call your home approximately

10 to 30 minutes prior to arrival. The driver may honk, one time, as

requested by you and/or your home. The driver will call your home

upon arrival, if you don’t come right out. The driver will wait 3

minutes after calling your home. If you do not come out of your home

within 3 minutes, the driver will leave the premises without you. If

you do not wish to be called, please notify your Case Specialist.

PM TRANSPORTATION TIMES:

You will be dropped off at home between 3:15 PM – 4:30 PM. If a

support person is needed and not visible, your driver will call your

home upon arrival. The driver will wait 3 minutes after calling your

home. If no one is available within 3 minutes, your driver will leave

the premises with you and bring you back to Addventures. Your

provider/natural support will be responsible for coordinating

transportation for you from Addventures.
