Offensive PhilosophyGeneral Philosophy Outflank the defense but still remain
balanced in our attack. Every play we run should have a set of plays to compliment it in misdirection and pass. The plays can be run from an assortment of formations with out scarifying much change in the players thinking. We need to keep it simple enough that players have a chance to be successful. We will be a Wing T team that will control the ball to give our athletes the best chance to win.
3
Why We Run the Option1. We are a Wing T team that runs mostly out of the Double Wing
Formation.2. We believe in balance and we should be able to run every play to either
direction with out changing formation. “Interchangeable Parts”3. It gives our best athlete the ball and the ability to make decisions with
it.4. We now have 4 backs that can run the ball.5. Teams must prepare a lot of their defensive time on many possible
plays.6. Defensive teams now must play discipline football.7. We have many small athletes on the offensive line and they have more
options to be successful.8. We are a misdirection team and it blended well into our already
established system.9. Gives our QB the option to audible to another play when he counts

Base Plays1. Buck Series – Trap, TAG, Sweep, Reverse, Waggle with
Variations2. Belly Series – Belly, Scissors, Keep Pass, Power, Belly
Option3. Option Series – Dive, Veer, Speed, Load, and BEAR
(Counter Option), PAP’s4. Short Passing Game 5. Screen Game6. Sprint Out Passing Game7. We believe in balanced plays and not a lot of plays. We just
want to be able to do every play out of every formation so we remain balanced.
8. We want every back to be a threat.9. “Not Reinventing the Wheel”10.Keep it simple and teach it correctly
11
Accept Failure Earlier
1. You must be ready to accept failure when putting in the option.
2. Option is a gamble.3. The chances of fumbling will increase but so will the
chance for big plays.4. QB must be able to count the defenders and audible.5. Trust the QB and coach him to make the right
decisions.6. QB must be willing to pitch it… Heart to Heart…7. You need to work on the MESH every day.8. You must work on Pitching Technique every day.9. If in doubt, give to the Dive
12
ISV / OSV1. Inside Veer is much like the Midline but not on the Midline.2. Outside Veer is the traditional Veer Option.3. ISV we block the DE and not the DT/DN4. OSV we block the DT and not the DE5. We block all of these different from each week.6. We scout the opposing teams and make
adjustments on their option keys.7. IS/OSV are not the only options we run.8. Trap & Sweep are very big plays for us and they
take time to run.

Closing
1. We are a Wing T team and will focus on the Wing T base plays first.A. Trap, Sweep, Reverse, WaggleB. Belly, Option, Keep Pass, Counter
2. Your feeder system should be based upon the Base Plays.3. I would not do both Wing T and Option in the first year.4. Rep out the MESH everyday, even if the kids get sick of it.
SELL IT!A. Two Ball MESH DrillB. 4 Cone Pitch DrillC. Option needs to be worked on every day in “O
Breakdown”5. Fakes are very important, carry them out and don’t watch
the play6. Research option, study it, and see how it can blend into
what you already do.7. Have Faith as the Option has low points but it also brings a
chance for big success.
