Definitions• Monomial: An expression with one term,

consisting of a number, a variable, or the product of a number and variable(s), i.e., 5xy.

• Polynomial: A sum of monomials, i.e., 7x2+5xy+(-2x)+3y+(-1).

• Like Terms: Terms that contain the same variables raised to the same power, i.e., 2x3y and 9x3y.
