ADDENDUM No. 1
INVITATION FOR BID # 13-‐6491-‐5 Norrell Annex Elevator Addition
Richmond Public Schools
Date of Bid Documents: May 15, 2013 Date of Addendum No. 1: June 06, 2013 Bid Receipt Date: June 11, 2013 (unchanged) Bid Opening Date: June 12, 2013 (unchanged) SUBJECT: Questions/Answers; Specification/Drawing Modifications
This Addendum must be acknowledged as indicated on the Bid Form, or your bid may not be considered. Questions/Answers:
1. Specification notes to blast clean architecturally exposed structural steel. None of the steel appears to be noted AESS. Does the blast cleaning apply? Is the canopy steel AESS? The canopy steel is ‘Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel’, and is to be painted.
2. Continuous vapor barrier is noted at the cavity walls. Is this vapor barrier the Dampproofing per Specification Section 071113? Yes. Reference also Unit Masonry Section 042000 page 11 Sec. 3.7C. ‘Coat cavity face of backup wythe with bituminous dampproofing compatible with cavity wall insulation.’
3. The wall sections note continuous waterproof barrier below grade. Is this waterproofing? If so, can a specification be provided? Change waterproof barrier reference to ‘bituminous dampproofing’ and install per Specification Section 071113 Bituminous Dampproofing.
4. At Section 2/A3.01, it is noted that 5/A5.02 is a detail of the concrete apron. But detail 5/A5.02 is of the canopy. Can a detail of the concrete apron be provided? Detail 5/A5.02 was referenced in error. The concrete apron detail reference on 2/A3.01 should be Detail 4/A5.01.
5. Does the structural steel specification apply to the miscellaneous steel items such as the ladder, sump pit grate, etc.? No. Reference Specification Sections 055000 Metal Fabrications, and 055313 Bar Gratings, included with this Addendum No.1.
6. I visited the RPS website and the link for the bid envelope is not working. Please advise. Use any envelope to submit your bid. Make sure to put Invitation for Bid # 13-‐6491-‐5 on the outside of the envelope.
7. For Receipt and Forms of Bid, the Cover Page is listed. Are we to include a copy of the project manual cover page? No. The cover page is not necessary.
8. Per the First & Second Floor Plans on A1.01, there is a framed opening from the existing building to the addition. We are referred to Detail 11/A5.01. These appear to be two new H.M. frames, but there is no elevation of these frames on A6.01. Please advise. Yes, these are openings with hollow metal frames, but without doors. Detail 11/A5.01 is the typical jamb. See wall section 5/A3.02 and referenced details for sill and head details at each opening.

9. Per 5/A5.02, there appears to be a roof drain at the canopy connected to roof/storm piping. However, per P1.1, there isn’t a drain or piping shown at the canopy. Please advise. Yes, there is a drain in the canopy as indicated on the Architectural Drawings. Provide a 3 inch downspout per Specification Section 076200. Coordinate routing of canopy drain pipe with Architect prior to installation.
