3.7 million people reside in Izmir and it is the 3rd most populous city in Turkey. Also referred as the “Pearl of the Aegean”, Izmir is a tourist destination located at the Aegean coast of Turkey and is well-known for its historical sites, beautiful beaches and holiday resorts. TAV Airports operates both the domestic and international terminals of Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB). The International Terminal was built in 2006 and is operated by TAV since then. The Domestic Terminal operations are taken over by TAV in January 2012 and a brand new domestic terminal is being built.

Izmir is well-known for its historical areas, beautiful beaches and holiday resorts. Izmir Airport (ADB) is the most convenient entry point to the Aegean region for the visitors. The city is closely located to major touristic districts such as Cesme, Selcuk and Kusadasi.

Its massive tourism makes Izmir a lively city. The House of the Virgin Mary, located near Ephesus in Selcuk, is a holy place for Christians and visited by more than half a million people every year.

The tourism development plans of the Government regarding Izmir and its vicinity reveal that the bed capacity of the region will be increased from 40,000 to 100,000 in 5 years time. Ongoing investments in holiday resorts and conference halls will boost Izmir tourism. Izmir area is on the track of becoming the most popular touristic destination in Turkey.

International Arts Festival, short film and jazz festivals and Izmir International Fair are some of many events held in Izmir.

ADB is closely located and well connected to the city. Transportation by bus to the city center takes only 20 minutes. Access is also available by shuttle buses, trains and taxis.

ADB ISGETTING A COMPLETE NEW LOOKIzmir Adnan Menderes Airport’s (ADB) International Terminal is a new terminal that can handle 5 million passengers per annum. The international terminal is equipped with the latest technology for aviation systems all contributing to the efficiency, security and speed of operations.

Using ADB is simplicity both for passengers and airlines.

Upon taking over the domestic terminal operations in 2012, TAV started the construction of the new domestic terminal for ADB. The construction of the new domestic terminal will be completed in 2 years.

Upon the completion of the construction works of the new domestic terminal, ADB will get a complete new look.

Izmir Airport (ADB) handled 9.4 million passengers in 2012, growing 10% compared to 2011. The passenger numbers have surged 71% during the

last 5 years, growing from 5.5 million to 9.4 million. 2.4 million international passengers were served in ADB in 2012.

ADB is a popular destination in Aegean coast with non-stop international flight destinations totaling up to 66 which

are served by 54 different airlines, including the seasonal summer charter operations.
