Rodney Pitts came there not believing this view, but fellowshipping it. Claims he still doesn’t, but now defends it… (cp. Gal. 2:3-5; 1 Cor. 15:33).D. Brian Yeager, scheduled for a meeting here April 2008, recently expressed that he believes we are in sin for having the “second offering”.We need to understand Truth & be

consistent!

I. WHAT IS THE ISSUE?A. Some assert it is a sin & refuse to fellowship any who do it.B. Some assert it is “unauthorized” but do not want to say it is “sinful” or end fellowship.C. Some leave it to personal judgment,

whether to partake or not.D. Some say we are commanded to partake & commanded to allow others to partake.

(This is inconsistent at best.)

LS?1. When Scripture speaks of "together" for the Lord's Supper; the emphasis is on "when"! "when the disciples came together..." (Acts 20:7) "when ye come together..." (1 Cor. 11:18, 20, 33)2. The WHEN of partaking is in the assembly. The HOW of partaking is testing yourself individually (1 Cor. 11:27-31).3. They mistakenly read WHEN as HOW

(i.e. all must eat in "SAME ASSEMBLY" BY 8-13-07).

III. READING INTO THE TEXTD. While ALL eating in the SAME ASSEMBLY

fulfills the command, MUST it be the SAME ASSEMBLY?1. Paul at Ephesus wrote to Corinth:

READING INTO THE TEXT (Acts 20:11)“Have you considered that Acts 20:7 tell us what was going to happen while the actual events are concluded through verse 11?  If verse 11 is a common meal with the brethren there, then such is not only authorized, but by example would be just as binding as verse 7.  Have you considered that the eating in verse 11 is the partaking of the L.S.?" (1) IF Acts 20:11 is the LS, then it is a 2ND OFFERING! For the assembly was DISRUPTED (20:9-11)!

(3) AND it would mean the LS on MONDAY (20:7b)!(2) AND only one person could take it (20:11 "he")!

IV. AN INVALID COMPARISONA. "If God wanted a make-up (as He did the

Passover - Numbers 9), He would have said so..." (Ibid) (Emphasis DH)

1. Passover: a. 14th of Abib (Ex. 12:18; Dt. 13:4; 16:1). b. Once a year (Deut. 13:10). c. At sunset (Deut. 16:4, 6). d. Only at tabernacle (Deut. 16:5-6). e. Specified exception (Num. 9:6-13).

IV. AN INVALID COMPARISONA. "If God wanted a make-up (as He did the

2. God SPECIFIED the time of day for Passover (Dt. 16:4, 6); but just the day for the LS!3. God gave an EXCEPTION for ANOTHER DAY to observe the Passover (Num. 9); but no other day for the LS!4. So, do we need AN EXCEPTION to partake on SUNDAY? It is ALREADY AUTHORIZED!

V. BRIAN YEAGER'S VIEW SUMMARIZED“Yes, stating that the 'make-up' serving of the Lord’s

Supper is without authority is saying it is sinful and carries consequences of fellowship with it (Colossians 3:17 and II John 9-11).  I am consistent in this manner.” (8-10-07)

C. Those who bind UNSPECIFIED details must read into the text, mis-define words & make invalid parallels to "prove" their point (2 Pet. 3:16).D. We cannot fellowship false teachers
