I. EVENTS (Workshops/ Seminars)

1. CCNA One day Hands On Workshop on “Design Your Home and Office

Networks”- 28-8-2014

CCNA workshop was

conducted on 28th August 2014 at

CSE Development Centre One day

workshop had various sessions.

The first session was handled

by Mr.N.Kumaran , Assistant

Professor, Department of IT gave

Introduction to networks and its

types, Transmission Media OSI Layers functions &its protocols and followed by

Mr.M.Prasath Pandian, Assistant Professor, Department of CSE on IP Addressing and

Subnetting and IPV6.

The second session on

Internetworking devices, Packet

Tracer Demo was handled by

Mr.M.Prasath Pandian. The session

on Configuring CISCO Router,

Routing Protocols and its

Configuration(Static and Dynamic(

RIP) Routing ) handle by

Mr.M.Thirunavaukkarsu.

The Third and final session on Cable Crimping and Introduction to Wireless

Communications and Configuration was handled by Mr.K.Sivakumar , Assistant Professor,

Department of CSE.More than 25+ students and staff members from various department had

attended the workshop.

The Design Engineer from M/s. Qualcomm

visited our University and interacted with

the final year students. He gave a talk on

3. CTS Pre Talk for Campus Recruitment 05- Aug - 2014

A team of HR from Cognizant

Technology Solutions, Chennai visited our

University and interacted with all the final

year students in connection with the campus

recruitment to be held on 13th & 14

September 2014

4. Visit of Team from Virtusa - 09- Aug -2014

A team of members led by Vice

President Mr. Prakash Arunachalam of

Virtusa, Chennai addressed and interacted

with the final year students regarding job

opportunities for fresh engineering students.

Students from final year attended and

benefited from the interaction.

5. Internship Program CVC Pvt. Ltd 18-08-2014 to 23-08-2014.

Final year students A.Arunachalam and J.Karthik attended internship for web

designing program at CVC Pvt. Ltd, Bengaluru in connection with designing Veriflabs.com.

They designed sample pages and prepared documentation for further development. Finally

they build native android app for DVCON 2014 INDIA.

6. Creativity and Innovation workshop -19th August 2014

Dr.S.Sarangapani, Dept of Business

Studies, IBRA college of Technology, Oman

delivered a workshop on “Creativity And

Innovation”. Finaly Year CSE students

participated in the session.

7. Cognorators Programme –CTS -22nd August 2014.

The following CSE III year students attended Cognorators Programme training workshop

held at CTS ASV Suntech park, Thoraipakkam.

8. Introduction to Agile Software Engineering -28th August 2014

Experts Mr. Santhana G.Krishnan and Mr

Arun Sundaresan from Thoughtworks,Chennai , a

global software company focused on software

design and delivery.

Final year students attended and interacted

with professionals on the topic “Introduction to

Agile Software Engineering” and gained

knowledge about how to improve and deliver quality software from Agile Development

tools .

9. Geeknight -28th August 2014

Mr. Aditya Subramaniam, III Year student, participated in the Geeknight held at

Thoughtworks, Chennai on 28 Aug. 2014.

III. Research

1. Doctoral Committee

The first doctoral committee meeting of research scholar Mr.Battu Balaji Bhanu, was held in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering on 12th August 2014. The Doctoral committee reviewed the progress of the scholar and approved the syllabus for the research methodology exam after discussion. The committee consisted of

3. Research Colloquium

1. The Fourteenth Research Colloquium Event was conducted by Department of Computer Science and Engineering on 6th August 2014 in the DEPT., of CSE.

The topic was “ AUGMENTED REALITY [AR]”. The Presentation was made by Mrs. D. Gayathri, Assistant Professor in the CSE Department. The initial discussion was on the AR . AR is ) is the integration of digital information with live video or the user's environment in real time.

AR works on all smartphones, laptop and tablets. Initial discussion was on GOOGLE GLASS ,QR Codes, areas where AR is used marker and marker-less codes etc.Finally session ends with AR demonstration by scanning QR codes, browser virtual page through smartphone and laptop . All the staff members from CSE department attended.

2. The fifteenth research colloquium was held in the Department of CSE on 13th Aug 2014.

The Presentation was made by Mr.K.Sivakumar Assistant Professor in the CSE Department. The topic was " Parallel Computing" parallel computing topics following objectives have been covered About parallel computing ,difference between parallel and serial computing, importance of parallel computing, Parallel

computing architecture and programming model have been discussed and how to run the Parallel program in Visual studio 2010 have been demonstrated.

3. The Sixteenth research colloquium was held in the Department of CSE on 20th Aug 2014.

The Presentation was made by Ms R. Poorva Devi Assistant Professor in the CSE Department. The topic was on Replica management in cloud computing Internet bandwidth access is a non-deterministic one in any of the forum. So, Data (or) Information availability is a major phenomenon for all kind business and other working disciplines.

My initial talk is about on current statistical report for data growth, then continued with Back up and its technology solutions, how to optimize the backup components, VM based Replication methods, How to incorporate network level replication into storage level replication, and real time demo on how to store the user’s data in cloud environment by using distinguished RAID levels and session ended with replica management research directions.

4. The Seventeenth research colloquium was held in the Department of CSE on 26th Aug 2014.

The Presentation was made by Mr.Kannan, Assistant Professor in the CSA Department. The topic was on TIPS FOR PUBLICATION IN REPUTED JOURNAL.

Mr.Kannan discussed and pointed out various information how to publish in reputed journal and faculties from CSE&

CSA attended.

1. Mr.J.Shayam Mohan Assistant Professor ,Member of NSS SCSVMV Camp organized World Organic Day In SCSVMV University on 04-08-2014.

2. Ms.R.PoorvaDevi, Assistant Professor, , presented a paper titled “ A Trust Boundary Model for User Authentication in Cloud using IAM and Fuzzy Approach” in an Elsevier Internationalconference on Emerging Research in Computing Information, Communication and Applications. organized by NITTE Meenakshi Institute Of Technology, Bangalore, India On 1st &2nd August 2014

3. Ms.C.KGomathy , Assistant Professor, presented a paper titled “Service oriented architecture to improve Quality of software system in public sector organization ” in an Elsevier International Conference on Emerging Research in Computing Information, Communication and Applications. Organized by NITTE Meenakshi Institute Of Technology, Bangalore, India on 2nd August 2014.

4. Mr R.Vasanth Kumar Metha, Assistant Professor, attended Workshop on “Matlab & Simulink For Engineering Education” Organized by MathWorks Chennai on 20th August 2014 .

V. Student Activity

2. K.Murugavel, III year CSE student participated in Inter College Cricket Meet at Rajiv Gandhi Institute Youth Development, Tamlinadu Sports University and SRM University Trophy.
