AfundamentallybuoyantmoodintheSwisseconomysetapositivetoneforVINCIEnergiesSchweizAGduringthelastbusinessyear.Theeconomicdataneverthelesslaggedbehindmarketexpectationsandinflationfellasaresultoflowerenergyprices.MortgageinterestratesremainatahistoricallylowlevelandarelikelytorepresentanadditionalboosttotheSwissconstructionindustry.Thewilling-nessoftheindustrialsector,servicecompaniesandthepublicauthoritiestoinveststabilisedatagoodlevel.WhilewedidnotfeelanydifferenceindynamicsfromoneSwissregiontoanother,wedidobserveaslightfallinplanningapplicationsinthesegmentsofmostinterest to us.

InoursecondkeymarketofItaly,wenotedverystrongbusinessdynamicswithVINCIEnergiesItalythankstothestrategyweadoptedanddespitetheverydemandingeconomicenvironment.TheeconomicgrowthforecastinItalyoverthepastcalendaryearwasalreadybelowtheEuropeanaverageandcollapsedagainafterthesummer.Wesucceededinavoidingthistrendthankstoourstrategicfocusonindustrialcustomersintheelectronicsandautomationsectoraswellastooursecondmainstayofinformationandcommunicationtechnology(ICT).WithinthedifferentsegmentsandregionsofthescopeofVINCIEnergiesSchweizandItaly,weclearlyexceededourbudgetgoalsasaresultoforganicandexternalgrowth.

Throughtheconsistentimplementationofourcorporatestrategy,withitsclearsegmentationofourproductportfolio,combinedwithaconsciousdecisiontoavoidriskycontracts,wewereabletoachieveanorderintakeofCHF786million,representinganincreaseof24 % on the previous year.

In2018,werecordedaturnoverinexcessofCHF 700millionfortheveryfirsttime,representinganincreaseof27%.Thisdynamicsurgeingrowthwasachievedbymaintainingahealthybalancebetweenorganicandexternalgrowth.Theworkforcealsoincreasedby8%comparedtothepreviousyear,reachingatotalof3,250employees.Thisstronggrowthobservedforallkeyindicatorsplacedtheveryhighestdemandsonthemanagementteaminordertorespondthesechallenges.Theabove-averagegrowthobservedinrecentyearswasachievedwithoutdilutingourearningpower.Theresultachievedin2018wassimilartothepreviousyearandcanonceagainbedeemedpositive.Thankstoourstrongbalancesheet,weareunaffectedbyfinancialliabilitiesandcanfinanceallourinvestments,includingtheacquisitionofacommercialpropertyinBasel,throughouroperatingcashflow.

ThelargestfieldofourbusinessactivitiesrunsunderthebrandETAVISforhighandlow-voltageinstallations,substations,serviceandmaintenance.Throughoursolidmarketposition,thisfieldgreworganicallybyCHF25milliontoreachCHF378millionandgeneratedalittle over 50 % of our total turnover.

EvenmorestrikingwasthegrowthintheshareofrevenuerecordedbyAxiansinrecentyears.Thisbrandincorporatesalltelecommuni-cationsinfrastructureactivitiesandcomplexICTsolutions,accountingfor40%ofourturnover.Inthisfield,inadditiontoourpresenceinSwitzerlandandItaly,wealsohavesubsidiariesintheCzechRepublicandtheUSA.IntheItalianmarket,wewelcomedtwoAxianscompanies,SAIVS.p.A.andTeletronicaS.p.A.in2016.ThesetwocompaniesmergedlastyeartoformAxiansSAIVS.p.A.,whichwasdivi-dedintothreebusinessunits,thethirdbusinessunitfocusingonthenewactivityofcybersecurity,enablingustodevelopakeybusinessfieldunderourownsteam.Inonlyninemonths,weexpandedfromtwotoeighteenemployeesandanorderintakeofmorethanEUR 3million.Atthesametime,on26June2018,wewelcomedtheICTcompanySirecomS.r.l.,basedinTurin,toourgroupalongwithasubsidiaryintheUSA.Withabout85specialists,thecompany–nowoperatingunderthenameofAxiansSirecoms.r.l.–generatesaturnoverofEUR 15millionwhileboastingaclearcustomerfocusoninternationalretailgroups,food,textileandindustrialproduction,logistics and healthcare.

InSwitzerland,ourAxiansbusinessinthefieldoftelecommunicationsinfrastructurealsodisplayedstronggrowth.AfterCablex,AxiansdevelopedagoodpositionasthesecondstrategictotalcontractorforfixednetworkandmobiletelephonywithSwisscom.InordertodeliverSwisscomthefullrangeofrequiredtotalcontractorservices,weopenedanumberofnewsitesandexpandedourworkforceconsiderably.Atthesametime,thecompanyswissprodecidedtostopprovidinginstallationoperationsforSwisscominthenetworkinfrastructure.ThisofferedAxianstheopportunitytotakeovertheexperienced25-strongteaminAllschwil,nearBasel,asof1August2018.Tosimplifytheinternalprocessesandensuresufficientmanagementcapacities,AxiansMicatelAGandAxiansBrogerAGmerged

Demandhasalsoremainedconsistentlyhighinthefieldsofindustrialautomation(Actemium),technicalfacilitymanagement(VINCIFacilities)andbuildingtechnology(heating/ventilation/airconditioning),inwhichtheknow-howwehaveacquiredenablesustocoveran increasing number of applications.

Wefirmlybelievethatthecorporatedevelopmentimplementedinrecentyearswasnecessaryandmustcontinuetobepursuedwithaviewtocopingwellwiththeupcomingchangeswhileconsolidatingourpositioninthevaluechain.Asaresultoftheenergyrevolutionand digitisation, individual business segments are melding together, and only thanks to our broad service portfolio and our highly quali-fiedemployeescanweassumeacentralroleofpartnerasVINCIEnergies.

Ourprudentlong-termcorporatepolicyisreflectedinthekeyvaluesofoccupationalsafety,employeesatisfactionandtraining/continu-ingeducation.Inthisphaseofstronggrowth,particularattentionmustbepaidtoensuringthatourcorporatevaluesareinnowaywatereddown.Overthepasttwoyears,wehavewelcomedmorethan1,000newemployeestothegroupandintroducedthemtoourvaluesystem.Foranumberofyears,wehavemademajoreffortsinthefieldofoccupationalsafety,withthenumberofdayslostin2018reducedbyafurther20%.Inadditiontothepermanentcontinuingeducationofourworkforce,wewelcomedmoreyoungapprenticesthaneverbeforetothegroup.Atthree-yearintervals,anemployeesurveyrecordsthefeelingsandperceptionsoftheworkforceacrossourentirefieldofactivity.Witharesponseratealwaysinexcessof60%,thefeedbackisverymeaningfulandunderlinedoncemoretheabove-averagelevelofoverallsatisfaction.

Asinpreviousyears,agreatdealwasachievedin2018.Ourtrackrecordandsuccessarefoundedonouremployees.Dayinanddayout,theyprovetheircommitmenttoourcustomerstimeandagain,providehigh-qualitysolutionsandmakeVINCIEnergiesSchweizandItaly a leading provider.

Axians GNS AG developed its informationsecuritymanage-mentsystem(ISMS)inaccor-dancewiththeinternationalstandardISO27001andobtainedtherelevantcertifi-cation.

Axians took over 25 employees fromthecompanyswissproNWAGinthefieldofcablenetworkconstruction.Thankstothisnewinstallationteambased in Basel, the company expanded its geographic cover and further extended its ownpresenceinthefieldoftelecommunicationsnetworkconstruction. As a result, more than400peoplearenowemployedinAxiansSchweiz’stelecommunications infra-structure segment.

The146newapprenticeswerewelcomedtotheGroupby the management team during the basic seminar held in Lenk.

VINCI Energies Italy acquired the Sintesi Group ( Sirecom S.r.l. ), thereby strengthening, consolidating and expandingthe presence of Axians, the informationandcommuni-cation technology brand. The Sintesi Group specialises in services and solutions in the ICT sector, generating aturnoverofmorethanEUR15 million and employing 85peopleinItalyandtheUSA.

Over12differentevenings,the Actemium and ETAVISbusiness unit leaders from the northernregionwelcomedmore than 900 customers to acabareteveningwiththeartist Veri at the Schällenursli restaurant in Basel.

Axianswasnamedpreferredsupplier by Alcon Laboratories, thereby obtaining the highest status. As a result, Axians belongs to a very restricted and select circle of external IT serviceproviderswhoareconsultedfirstwithregardtocalls for tender and procure-ment procedures.

Axianswasawardedthecon-tractfortheindividualprojectbusiness as total contractor forSwisscominthefieldoffixednetwork.Thankstothislong-termagreement,Axianshassecuredabout3,500ad-ditional contracts per year. Theindividualprojectbusinessincorporates the ongoing cableconnectionofnewresi-dential buildings and business premisestotheSwisscomfixednetworkthroughoutSwitzerland.

ETAVIS is a key partner of the “Klimaplattform der Wirt-schaft”, in the Basel region.

At the 58th energy apero,Rolf Dobelli gave a talk on the topic of “The art of good living“.

Thetwocompaniesspecial-isinginfixedandmobiletele-phony infrastructures, Axians BrogerAGandAxiansMica-telAG,joinedforcestotradeunder the name Axians SchweizAGfrom1January2019.AxiansSchweizhasgiven rise to a highly capablemarket leader, present throughoutSwitzerland,inthefieldsofprojectdevelopment, planning, creation and operationofturnkeyfixedandmobiletelephonyinfra-structures. With eleven sites located in all language regions, more than 400 em-ployeesandtried-and-testedlocalpartners,AxiansSchweizis in an outstanding position toplanandensuretheeffi-cient implementation of projectsintheincreasinglyintegratedtelecommuni-cationsandbroadbandinfra-structure as a general con-tractor and single provider.

Axians began a cooperation withtheChanelbrandaspartof a comprehensive, multi-nationalprojectoverseveralyears aimed at industrialising the RFID solution and prepar-ing sales thereof in all regions. Theaimoftheprojectistointroduce RFID technology as quickly as possible into 200 fashion boutiques around the globe and to provide round-the-clockhardwareandsoftwaresupportandmaintenance. To complete the service, technical training courses are planned for all process phases.

In June 2018, VINCI Energies Italy took over all activities of Gruppo Sintesi. This corporate group specialises in providing services and solutions in the ICT sector. Gruppo Sintesi has a total of 85 employees in Italy and the USA and recorded a turn-over of more than EUR 15 million in 2017.

With this takeover, VINCI Energies enhanced, consolidated and extended the presence of its Axians brand, specialising in the ICTsector,inItaly.Thenewtransactionputsusinapositiontofurtherdevelopourcompetencesinamoretarget-orientedman-nerwhilealsofacilitatingcomprehensivenationwidecoverinsofaraswecancountontheexperienceandinnovativecapa-bilityaswellasthestrength,resourcesandsuitabletoolsoftheexistinginternationalnetworkofVINCIEnergiesandAxians.

GruppoSintesicameintobeinginTurinin1983withthefoun-dingofSintesiSoftware,andwasexpandedin1994withthecreationofSirecom,focusingoninfrastructureswithaviewtoprovidingevenmoretailor-madesolutionsintheICTsector.TheGruppoSintesibrandwascreatedin2003beforespecialisingin2010inthebusinesssectorsofdatacentresaswellasdistri-butednetworkinfrastructuresandbuildingautomation.In2014,thegroupenteredtheenergyefficiencymeasuresandsmartbuildingssector.Afewyearslater,SirecomUSAwasfoundedwithaviewtosupportingglobalprojectsforleadingbrandsinthe retail trade and, more particularly, to further promote the the largestprojectfortheinstallationofdigitalsignage.

Gruppo Sintesi (Sirecom S.r.l.) becomes a part of Axians Italy

Inits35-yearexistence,GruppoSintesihasdevelopedstrongcompetencies in the ICT sector, in redesigning operating pro-cessesandintroducingdatainfrastructuresandinthefieldsofbuilding automation and energy consumption optimisation. Today, the group is recognised as a trusted advisor to executive boardsofcompaniesinthefieldsofinternationalretailing( fashion, luxury, GDO/GDS ), food, textile and industrial production andlogisticsaswellasthehotelandcateringindustry,develo-pingglobalprojectsintheareasofdigitalsignage,connectedbusiness and supply chain integration.

Its integration in Axians Italy represents a further strengthening of the specialisation and special skills of Sirecom – thanks to thesynergiescreatedwiththeAxiansbrandandwithVINCIEnergies–and,inthenewenvironment,opensupunprecedentedopportunitiesforgrowthandvaluecreationwiththecustomers.

Digitaldisruptionisstillinfullswingandchangeseachcompanyandeachorganisationthroughitsdisruptivepower.Theimpactsaremassiveandeveryactivityisaffected,frompurchasingtosocial interactions, from data collection to company management, industrial production and much more. Digital change represents anurgentchallengeforeveryone,asthealternativewouldbetocondemnourselvestoinsignificance.Consequently,thistopicis of the utmost importance to all management teams and its implementation inevitably requires ICT infrastructures.

This is particularly the case in the retail trade, from large chains to the luxury segment. Axians Sirecom therefore sees itself as apartnerwhichcanhelpretailers–amongothers–toactivelyembrace digital change and supports them in creating the ne-cessaryinfrastructures.Untilrecently,thesecouldonlybefoundinthedatahighwayscarryingdatastreams.Today,thestrategicimportanceoftheseinfrastructureshasgrownconsiderably,asthey form the basis for the generation of data essential for taking strategicdecisions:theycontrolandactivateIoTsensors,cam-eras, algorithms for face, behaviour and emotion recognition, interactive kiosks and multimedia/multisensory installations. Our customers use these not only to present their shops as “brand stages“, but also to collect and make better use of important informationabouttheirowncustomers.

Consequently,theofferfromAxiansSirecomisdividedintosixphases : consulting, planning, governance, installation, mainte-nanceandremoteservicesprovidedwithintheframeworkofanad-hocplatformcalledGeoreting.

Withtheseprojects,Axians’customerscan,forexample,analysein real time the length of time visitors stay in their shops and reactimmediately,asthecontentonthescreensinthedifferentpoints of sale on every continent are controlled centrally.

Consultation, planning and Georeting are not merely distinctive featureswithregardtocompetitors.Theyarealsothefieldsin

whichAxianscanemphasisethevalueaddedfortheirowncustomers, as they are fundamental in responding to the require-mentsofdigitalchangeandultimatelyinachievingasinglefinalobjective:toensurethatthetechnologyfulfilsitsfunction,i.e.tofacilitatenewpointsofcontactandexchangebetweenpeople.

WithitsintegrationinAxians,Sirecomisnowinapositiontoreactevenmoreeffectivelytotheglobaldimensionofthesetasksin the retail trade and beyond.

In 2018, Axians Italy created a new division specially for cyber-security.

This initiative means a continuation and strengthening of the brandstrategywhichisorientedtowardsaverticalisationoftheservice, the further development and dissemination of the brand throughoutItalyandavaluepropositionvis-à-visourcustomersand partners.

As in other countries, the issue of security plays an increasingly importantroleinItalyinaneconomicenvironmentthatisnowentirely caught up in digital change : Industry 4.0, IoT and Cloud are key strategic components for the development of companies andsocietyasawhole,butareaccompaniedbyincreasedrisksintheeventofinsufficientorevenatotalabsenceofprotection.

Inthisarea,majorchangesarecurrentlytakingplacewhichwillaffectallcompanieswithoutexception.Overtheyears,thesecu-rity approach evolved from a “coconut model“ – a hard outer shellassolidasacastlewallbutwhich,onceovercome,leavesallinformation open to invaders – to an “avocado model” – a “soft” outershellwithahardcorethatmustbeunassailable.Itisthere-foreessentialthatdifferentsecuritylevelsbecreatedaccordingto the importance of the information and structures to be pro-tected.

Aboveall,agoodstrategyrequiresacomprehensiveknowledgeofthecompany,withtheoptimisationofpreviousproceduresandthe existing infrastructure forming the initial starting point. Over thelasttwentyyears,thecompanieshaveinvestedin“best-of-breed“solutionswithaconstantsuccessionofnewtechnologiesandtherebyfollowingamoreorlessstructuredinvestmentpath.Inthiscontext,themarketrequiresahighlyspecialisedoffer.ThefactthatAxianscannowrelyonaspecialdivisionforITse-curityoffersthecompanyamajorcompetitiveadvantage–bothin the short term but more importantly in the medium and long term.

Axians Italy : founding of a division specialising in cybersecurity

Axians cybersecurity has set itself the task of listening to custo-mers,handlingtheirproblemsandprojectsandaccompanyingthemalongastructuredinvestmentpathwhichensuresthattheprocesses are secure, visible and monitored.

Thenewbusinessunit,underthedirectionofMassimoFanelli,currentlyconsistsof17people,includingthemostcompetentexpertsinthefieldofITsecuritywhoarealsofamiliarwiththerisks and realities of Italian companies. In 2019, the team should bebolsteredbythearrivalofadditionalemployees,withthecom-pany adhering to its trusted philosophy : security is a discipline requiringspecialisationandcontinuingeducationcombinedwitha deep passion and great commitment.

True to this motto, the team has registered a series of successes inthefirstsevenmonthsofitsexistence,predominantlywithcustomers in the top segment. Axians has strengthened its presence and performance quality in the field of cable network construction in north-western Switzerland by taking over responsibility for 25 employees of the company swisspro NW AG from 1 August 2018.

Growthinthefieldofdatatransferandtelecommunicationre-mainsstrong.Newtechnologies,suchas5Ginthefieldofmobiletelephony,andincreasinglyefficientcablenetworkinfrastruc-turesconstantlyopenthewayforpotentialnewapplicationsintheeconomicsphereaswellasforpublicinstitutionsandprivatehouseholds. This also places high demands on the development and operation ofthefixednetworksthroughSwitzerland.Efficiency,flexibilityandservicequalityisrequiredatthelowestpossiblecosts.Axianssatisfiesthiscustomerrequirementbyprovidingahighpropor-tion of the service itself.

AsaresultofthedecisiontakenbyswissproNWAGtowith-drawfromthisfieldofactivityforstrategicreasons,Axianswasofferedtheopportunitytotakeoverresponsibilityforemployeeswhowereemployedassubcontractors.Boasting25experiencedspecialists,theteamisnowpartoftheAxiansfixednetworkunitwhichhasnowproudlyexceededthe150-employeemark.Consequently,AxiansisnowalsoexpertlyrepresentedwithinthetelecommunicationsfieldintheregionofBaselbyitsownteamandisthereforeperfectlypreparedtotakeontheworkplannedfor2019thatwillcontinuetobeoutsourcedbySwisscom.

Schweizer Zucker, Aarberg plantRehabilitation of the external installa-tions

Theprojectcoveredtheintegrationoftheexternal installations. Approximately 30S5andS7-300controlswerereplacedand fully integrated into the overarching Siemens-PCS7controlsystem.Thede-cisiontousetheuniversalPCS7solutionnot only increased operating safety in the plant but also facilitated future adapta-tions and expansions.Workstartedwithameticulousanalysisofthehardwareandsoftwarecurrentlyused at the Aarberg site. Therenovationworkinvolvedreplacingthee-filtersthroughabicarprocesswhileimplementingotherprocessim-provements and upgrading the control technology. The scope of supply of Acte-mium LeitTec covered the entire control technologyoftheproject.The existing operation of the entire sludge combustionprocesswasintegratedinto the incineration plant’s ABB 800 xA controlsystem.Unlikeinthepast,theprocessisnowcontrolledcentrallyinthecontrol rooms by the incineration plant’s shift personnel. TheexistingS7sludgecombustionsystem has been expanded by means of newplantsectionsandimprovementstothe process engineering. To satisfy modern requirements, urgent renovation andmodernisationworkwasnecessaryand the City of Basel commissioned ETAVISKriegel+SchaffnerAGtocarrythisout.IncollaborationwithK.SchweizerAG,therenovationworkwascompletedinseveralstageswithinatimeframeofthreeyears–withoutthehalleverclosingitsdoors.Shininginrenewedsplendour,thecompletelyrenovatedSt.Jakobshallewasreadytowelcomethisyear’sSwissIndoors, the country’s largest sporting event. Duringtherenovationwork,numerouselectricalinstallationswerecarriedoutincludingforthehighandlow-voltagesystemsaswellasescaperouteandemergency exit lighting. Occupational safety 2018

“SafetyExcellence”tookonanewdimensioninthepastyear.Ontheonehand,alargenumberofprojectmanagers,teamleaders and supervising installers received training in the “ Do youknowyourculture?”heartsandmindstool.Whiletheseniormanagementteamaddressedthisissuethepreviousyearwhilealso examining management questions, the focus at employee levelwasplacedmoreonplanningandworkpreparation.Eachemployee determined their current position on the safety culture ladder and formulated measures designed to help them reach higher rungs in the future, i.e. to ensure tangible improvement withregardtosafetycultureintheirfieldofactivity(seeFig.1:Safety culture ladder ).

Ontheotherhand,measureswereintroducedinthefieldofincident management. The safety app, available from the VINCIstore,wasalreadymadeknowninanumberofdifferentBUsandinstalledon-siteonsmartphoneswhilecontent-relatedtrainingwasalsoprovided.Thishelpsmaterialisethe“Look,re-port,share”campaignandbenefitsfromatoolinwhichemplo-yeescanreportso-calledincidentssuchasdangeroussituations,unsafe conditions and near misses. These reports can then be sent to another interest group using the app and thus be shared.

Tried-and-testedactionsconcerningoccupationalsafetywereonceagainorganisedin2018.Inadditiontothetoolboxmeet-ings,inwhichamonthlytrainingsessionisconductedineachbusiness unit on a special topic related to occupational safety, the worldwideVINCISafetyWeekwasagainheldinMay.Foranentireweek,accidentpreventionconditionedourdailyroutine.Fortheveryfirsttime,trainingsessionswereorganisedbothforinstallationpersonnelandtheofficestaff.Whiletheformer explored topics relating to the preparation and layout of theworkplace,thelatteraddressedtopicssuchasrisksindailyofficelife,healthandexerciseandergonomicsattheworkplace.

Everyyear,ourapprenticesbegintheirfirstyearoftrainingwitha basic seminar in Lenk. The fundamentals presented to them include topics on occupa-tionalsafety,suchasincidentmanagement,whicharedealtwithexceptionallywellinthesafetyapp.

Duringthespring,weonceagainhadthestandardsunderpinningourcertificationaudited.TheOHSAS18001standard,relatingtothefieldofoccupationalsafetyandhealthprotection,wasex-aminedforthelasttimeasweareplanningtoswitchtothenewISO45001standardduringtherecertificationprocessin2019.

Statisticsshowthatwewereabletorecorda20%improvementin relation to previous year ( see Fig. 2 : Total accidents, and Fig. 3 : Dayslostincomparisontothepreviousyear).Withtheannounce-mentandapplicationofthenewsafetyculture,wearewellequippedtoreducetheaccidentfiguresyear-on-yeartothere-quired80%ofthepreviousyear’sfigure.

Strong performance in the apprenticeship certificateThesuccessrateofourapprenticeswhosattheirapprenticeshipcertificatein2018wasonceagainwellabovetheaveragewithinthe sector, reaching an outstanding 85 %. It should also be noted thatfourcandidatesachievedamuchsought-afterrankingplacethankstotheirexcellentperformanceswhileafurther18candi-datesobtainedanoverallscoreofbetween5.0and5.2.Further-more,MartinHuber(5.6)obtainedthehighestscoreintheentirecanton of St. Gallen.

Ourhard-workingtopcandidateswerethenalsoabletodemons-tratetheskillsacquiredduringtheirapprenticeshipsattheSwissSkillsChampionshipsinBasel,BernandEasternSwitzerland.Thecandidateswererequiredtocompletehighly-complextasksasexpertlyaspossiblewithinagiventimeframe,andthecompe-titionwasn’ttobetakenlightly–onlytheverybestmakeittotheSkillsChampionships.Ourparticipantscanbejustifiablyproud of themselves.

Wearealsopleasedthatabout60%ofgraduateapprenticesfindapermanentpositionwithusaftercompletingtheirtraining.Inthisway,weessentiallycreatethenextgenerationofworkersfromourownranksandofferyoungprofessionalsaguaranteedstart to their future career.

Preparation is everythingToensurethatthefinalapprenticeshipexamination2019isassuccessfulaspossible,theapprenticeswerealreadygivenextensive preparation for it last year. Our apprentices in their third yearoftrainingwerebroughttogetherforasharedtrainingweekinElmandMümliswiltopreparefortheexamination.Boththeirtheoreticalandpracticalknowledgewastestedsothatanyweak-nessescouldbeidentifiedandeliminatedingoodtime.Thebestpreparationfortheforthcomingfinalapprenticeshipexami-nation !

Naturally, future apprentices are also very important to us. Asinpreviousyears,weraninformationstandsatanumberoftrade fairs and career orientation events in 2018, for example at“tunOstschweiz”and“NextStep”inSchaan.Apprenticesarealwaysonhandtohelpanyyoungpeopleshowinginterestinconducting practical exercises, such as building the “famous” push-buttonswitches.Atthesametime,youngtalentedindividu-als learn a great deal about the everyday life of an apprentice atfirsthand.

Ouraimistoofferchildrenandteenagersaninsightintotheelectronics sector and thus to support them in choosing their future career. Furthermore, it is important to us to make young peopleawareofthevariousopportunitiesandreliablefutureprospectsofferedbytheapprenticeshipandstimulatetheirinterest in it.

As part of the national “Zukunftstags” ( future day ) in November, manyofouremployees’childrenweregiventheopportunitytolearnmoreabouttheirparents’everydayworkandtogetatasteofthewide-rangingfieldsofwork.Withthespecial“Girls-Technology-Go”project,particularfocuswasplacedongirlskeen on technology.

The go-ahead for the new apprentices Whileforsometheirtimeasanapprenticewascomingtoaclosein2018,forothersitwasjuststarting.Intotal,117apprenticesfromsevenprofessionsstartedtheirapprenticeshipswithETAVIS.During their time at the basic seminar held in August in Lenk inSimmental,theyoungpeoplehadthechancetogettoknoweachotherandbecomeaccustomedtoworkinginateamandperformingpracticalwork.ThefundamentalsofworkingatETAVIS–suchasoccupationalsafety,reliabilityanddealingwithcustomers – also played an essential role in the seminar.

Employee survey 2018We were pleased to observe 95% satisfaction with a high par-ticipation rate in the employee survey of 63 % ( 1,659 answers ).

Forthefifthtime,following2006,2009,2012and2015,VINCIEnergiesSchweiztaskedthecompanyDemoScopewithconduc-tinganemployeesurvey.Thefirstthreeeditionsenabledawiderange of improvements to be carried out in a number of spheres, whilethefourthpresentedapictureofconsolidationwithverygoodresults,inparticularwith“overallsatisfaction”maintainedata very high level in the 2018 survey. Like many individual aspects, satisfaction has reached a very high level compared to other Swisscompanies.

Itisessentialtoensurethattheidentifiedstrengthsaredeliber-atelyfosteredandthattheworkremainsinterestingtoemployees.Thisensuresthatlinemanagerscontinuetoenjoyemployees’trust.

Among senior managers, compassionate interaction and an open feedbackculture–fosteredbytheannualemployeeinterviews–are still required. Thanks to the important information provided bythesurvey,weareconfidentthatwearewell-equippedtocopewithfuturechallengesandtoovercomethemtogether.We are proud to see the high level of satisfaction among our em-ployeesandwewillmakeeveryeffortnottodisappointthemin the future.

The positive results of the employee satisfaction survey point, among other things, to a strong emotional attachment to their own company. Recording a score of 5.01 out of a possible 6, this is clearly above average in comparison to other companies in the VINCI Group.
