Activities in Spišská Nová Ves

The tower is the most notable and the most distinctive part of the silhouette of the town Spišská Nová Ves. The tower of the Roman-Catholic vicarage church of the Virgin Mary’s Assumption originating from the 13th century is one of the town’s greatest attractions because of its height of 87 metres. It is built on original medieval walls. A curiosity is seven big clock faces run by a single clockwork.

In addition to an Ussurian tiger, an American jaguar, a Persian leopard, an American puma and a chimpanzee, other approx. 300 animals can be found there. It includes playgrounds, arboretum, children’s racing ground, horse riding and other attractions.

Zoological garden

The gallery maps and presents mostly works of artists related to the region and Slovak fine art. It also presents works of foreign artists.

The theatre operates in the Reduta building built in 1902 by the architect Kálman Gezster for the Imre Halmai Strauss company. It also operates as a touring theatre aimed primarily at children and youth.

The museum is housed in the historic building of former medieval town hall called Provinčný dom (The Provincial House) today. The façade is decorated in rococo style with stucco decoration of six cartouches representing qualities that a corporation member should possess. Exhibitions in Markušovce and Smižany are branches of the Spiš Museum.

A 25-meter swimming pool with water depth ranging from 120 cm to 380 cm is at disposal as well as a diving tower, children’s non-swimmer pool. There is the possibility of morning swimming. Sauna, steam sauna and massages are parts of the object.

The grounds consist of a 50-meter swimming pool with water depth of 180 cm and three small pools. Playing areas at disposal – beach, volleyball, basketball.

Has a capacity of 3 800 seats and 2 700 standing places. Outdoor ice rink also at disposal – possibility of public ice skating under the open sky.

Ice Hockey Stadium

With a capacity of 800 seats.

Sports Hall

The grounds offer skating and streetball areas and space to enjoy sports like football, handball, hockeyball and small football. A Football pitch with artificial grass can be used all year.

Football Stadium

The grounds offer space to enjoy sport like football and small football. In addition to cinder surface with six tracks there are shot-putting, long-jump, pole-vault, high-jump and discus sectors.
