Generations Now and in the 70’s(Comparison)

LIFESTYLE IN THE 70'S

TECHNOLOGY

1970

life was so much different back then, There were no personal computers or cell phones, video games were a little bit rare and expensive, not a lot of people could afford them. Yet playing game after game of Pong would amaze families, also Atari was the world's first arcade video game, every kid was stoked about it.

FOOD

Life in the 70s was also pretty affordable. A movie cost $2.50, a hamburger 75¢ and fries were just 39¢.

FASHION

1970Polyester was the material of choice and bright colors were everywhere. Men and women alike were wearing very tight fitting pants and platform shoes. By 1973, most women were wearing high cut boots and low cut pants.

Early 1970s fashion was a fun era. It culminated some of the best elements of

the 60s and perfected and/or exaggerated them. Some of the best clothing

produced in the 1970s perfectly blended the moods with the hippies.

GAMES/HOBBIES

1970

When it came to hobbies, the 1970's had a huge variety, and some are even popular today, I mean, who could forget pet rocks?  Pet rocks are simply rocks that people have as pets, Mexican jumping beans are these little "beans" that can "jump". Slime is a type of goo that is fun to play with, (like silly putty) and Magic 8 Balls are balls with a cube inside having answers, so when you shake it, it answers any yes or no question, but it is not be accurate.

LIFESTYLE NOW

Nowadays, teenagers have changed in comparison with the teens in the past, taking into account eating habits, an active way of life, spending free time and clothes. They are a “technology” generation. For teens in today's’ world mobile phones, internet, music, movies, television and video games are very important. Most teenagers prefer watching TV and playing computer games to reading books. They don’t like reading because watching TV is easier and they don’t have to use their own imagination.

TECHNOLOGY

In recent decades, technology has introduced major changes in the way we live.

COMPUTERS

One of the benefits of having a technology go mainstream is that the cost of ownership for related products drops dramatically. Whereas you used to have to take out a small loan to buy a computer (and build a room to house it in), now you can get a decent all-purpose machine for less than $1,000.

TVWe are no longer held captive by the prime-time schedules of a handful of networks. Now, with TiVo cable DVRs, we don't have to wait for our favorite shows. And thanks to Hulu and Netflix, we can go back and rewatch entire seasons that we may have missed the first time around--without buying any DVDs.

DATING

No more waiting nervously by the phone for us. Instead, we now wait nervously

in front of the computer hoping that someone will IM, e-mail, or tweet us. If only

these new technologies could make us better communicators, too.

Conclusion:

In this exercise, I understand the importance of English for interaction with others.

By doing this practice I learned the right use of the past tense, the regular and irregular verbs, to be honest that was the most difficult thing to do. I also learned the difference between plural and singular nouns, which I find a tad bit confusing. I realized that my listening skills improved since the last practice, I was able to understand quicker and better and also comprehend nicer what I was reading.
