Part I:

Personnel/Stakeholders Roles and Responsibilities

SuperintendentDetermine and initiate technology needs; provide support to all stakeholders; create district technology policies; find or provide needed resources.

CurriculumDirector

Working with the technology director and curriculum committee to create a technology-infused curriculum; plan and organize staff development/training in technology

TechnologyDirector

Work with curriculum director and curriculum committee to create a technology-infused curriculum; assist in determining appropriate use policies; suggest technologies that would be beneficial to education

Curriculum Committee

Created of central administration, principals, technology teachers, general education teachers and a technology specialist; research the various technologies available; asses which technologies would be most effective; suggest appropriate use policies and district goals; conduct district and campus needs assessment; create and update district’s technology plan

School Board Provide support; provide needed resources; approve policies

Principal

implement technology goals on campus; assist in organizing staff training; evaluate staff technology usage; support staff; give teachers extra time to learn the technologies; participate in the technology committee; enforce district policies

Teachers

Attend trainings and learn new technologies; actually implement the technologies in the classroom; continually assessing effectiveness in the classroom; voice concerns or problems; instruct students on netiquette and appropriate use policy; consistently enforce policies

Technology Coach

Train teachers on the technologies they will be using in the classroom; visit teachers and assist them in the classroom; address teacher concerns and assist in finding solutions

Students Learn netiquette and appropriate use policies and apply them while using technology

Parents Learn as much as your child; manage child’s technology usage at home; be supportive

Part II:

Professional Development Activity Participant Description

District-wide technology analysis

curriculum committee

Because the district/campus has not completed the STaR Chart for the past two years, the committee will need to complete its own analysis of the district’s and campus’s use of technology.

Page 2: Action Plan

Findings analysis Curriculum committee

Analyze study findings; determine weaknesses and strengths

Create technology goals based on standards and needs of the district

curriculum committee; school board

Create technology goals that address the weaknesses found in the study for the district

Create technology goals based on needs of a campus

principals Using the district goals as a guideline, create a set of technology goals to meet the specific needs of the campus

Examine local districts’ technology plans, policies and grading policies

curriculum committees

Before determining a district plan, research and analyze districts in the local area and the regional area and how they have integrated technology. Include a district that has done so successfully.

Update district policies and grading policies

superintendant and school board

Examine current district technology policies and the relation to the current technology trends. Remove outdated policies and create new policies that are aligned with the technology trend.

Organize professional developments based off district analysis

Curriculum and technology directors

Design professional developments to train teachers on the new technologies to be implemented in the classroom. Based off comprehensive study results and findings from other districts

Offer various levels of training: beginner, intermediate, advanced

curriculum and technology directors; technology coach

Technology coaches train teachers in groups based off their own level of technology level. Beginner training for teaching those who are illiterate, intermediate training who those who can know the basics, and an advanced training who those who are digital immigrants

Technology training by technology coach staff

Each staff member will attend technology training that the district provides. They will integrate what they have learned into the classroom.

Classroom visits and assistance

technology coach; principals; teachers

Technology coach will visit each teacher and assist in using the technology during an actual classroom. They will discuss any concerns the teacher has or that the coach sees. Principal will visit classroom and also discuss any concerns with that the teacher has or that the principal sees

Part III:

Evaluation Description

STaR Chart

Ensure that all staff completes the STaR Chart for this year. Gives staff input on technology. Results used to determine whether district and campus goals are met.

Page 3: Action Plan

Lesson Plans

Teachers will be required to identify what technology they are using. Allows administration to determine the frequency of the programs and plan future staff development

Informal walk-throughs

Principals participate in informal walk-throughs weekly. During the walk-through, principals look for technology use and effectiveness. Principal will be able to evaluate real-life usage.

Technology coach assessment

Technology coach will evaluate each teacher’s knowledge of technology and their ability to use it. This can be done during training and follow-up sessions can be done during their time spent assisting the teacher in class.

ContestsTeachers will participate in a monthly contest with a prize. These contests will contain the teacher creating/using technology to perform certain tasks and following certain criteria.

Teacher Survey

This is another way teachers can give their input on technology. This will be focused more to what they find difficult and hard to use and to report any problems that have occurred. The data can be used in planning future professional developments and in planning the district/campus goals for the next year.
