One or both of these occur on most nights. The patient is a student and keeps a very erratic schedule and has failed to keep a sleep log. Due to this, actiwatch was used in order to attempt to document the sleep/wake pattern of this patient. Data were recorded for 3 weeks and the patterns interpreted. Summary Statistics: Bed Time Get Up Time Time in Bed (hours) Total Sleep Time (hours) Onset Latency (minutes) Sleep Efficiency (Percent) WASO (minutes) #Awak. The actogram was examined to determine rest intervals and sleep periods and review the following characteristics. Rhythmicity: Bed Times and sleep for this patient can occur at any time of the day. Very rarely do rest/sleep periods occur during traditional sleeping hours. Larger rest periods start as late as 8 in the morning (Day 12). Rhythmicity for this patient is not really present and should be addressed. Consolidation: Several sleep periods during the course of data collection show significant activity during the rest period. These occur at the beginning of some rest intervals (Day 2 and Day 8 for example) producing sleep latency that can be over 1 hour as well as after initially falling asleep (Day 11 for example) and in later stages of the rest period (Days 6 and 21). Wake after sleep onset of greater than 100 minutes was recorded. Regularity: There is no regularity to the timing of rest/sleep periods for this patient. This is an

area of significant concern. There are some days where there is little to no sleep (Days 13 and 18 for example). Napping: Short rest and sleep periods are evident on many days during this record. Some days that show these are: Days 4, 5, 10, 12, 14, and 19) some days, these are the only periods of sleep.
