Join us for the inaugural Fort Hamer Bridge 5K&10K prior to the grand opening of the bridge to vehicle traffic. Race event commences at 7:30 am by the Fort Hamer Rowing Facility and goes over Fort Hamer Bridge to the south side and then turns back and into the beautiful The Islands on the Manatee River subdivision. There will chip timing by Lakeshore Athletic Service (providers to the Chicago Marathon), colorful Leslie Jordan moisture wicking shirts, Women’s Safety Yellow Racer shirts to the first 200, unisex tank top and t-shirts, gift certificates to winners from Fit2Run, music, food and adult beverages with proper ID, and plenty of fun for the family.

SATURDAY AUGUST 26 both 5K & 10K begin at 7:30 am. Chip timed by Lakeshore Athletic Service providers to the Chicago Marathon. Day of registration begins at 6 am. Kids’ River Dashes at 6:45 am and the One Mile Walk at 7:35 am. Pets and strollers are welcome.

EARLY REGISTRATION at Fit2Run UTC Mall next to Dillard’s Sunday, August 20 through Thursday, August 24 during store hours.

KIDS’ RIVER DASHES sponsored by the Manatee YMCA start at 6:45 am in four age brackets; 3 to 4 years run 100 meters at 6:45 am; 5 to 6 years run 200 meters at 6:47 am; 7 to 9 years run 400 meters at 6:49 am; 10 to 12 years run 800 meters at 6:55 am. All children receive finisher medals and engraved trophies to boys/girls 1st through 3rd in each age group. Kids 12 and under registered for the 5K or 10K can compete for free! All children receive a commemorative tech shirt.

AWARDS: Top male/female finishers for 5K&10K receive $100 Fit2Run gift certificates and custom 6” tiles. 6” tiles and gift certificate to Master; Grand Master; Sr. Grand Master, and Veterans in both races. Engraved 4” award tiles to categories 9 and under; 10-14 years; 15-19 years; then 5 year age groups to 80+.

GREAT AFTER PARTY with food and refreshments from local restaurants plus adult beverag-es with proper I.D. Special YMCA sponsored Kids’ Zone with food, beverages, games and more.

SPECIAL RIVER ACTIVITIES Manatee County Youth Rowing will be hosting an open house. Athletes will give tours of the boathouse. Boats will be set up so that race participants can see the boats up close and learn the basics of the boats. Erg’s (rowing machines) will be set up to try simulated rowing. Enjoy an adventure with MANATEE RIVER KAYAK AND PADDLEBOARD. They can be rented to enjoy the river while supporting Manatee County Youth Rowing (MCYR) www.manateeyouthrowing.com.

RACE COURSE ROUTE5K and 10K over the new Ft Hamer Bridge and back to enter The Islands of the Manatee River subdivision on River Shores Trail where the 5K loops back to the finish and the 10K continues north to loop Savannah Lakes Drive then south on Islands Estates Drive and through the subdivision to the finish.
