Security in Industrial, Marine and
Petrochemical Environments
3
Thermal insulation is necessary to maintan
process conditions and conserve energy
Acoustic insulation is necessary to control
noise thereby protecting the safety of our
workforce and of the local environment.
System failure and stand-still times due to CUI
(Corrosion Under Insulation) cause huge
losses to the operator.
Armaflex insulation systems offer thermal and
acoustic performance which reduces the risk
of CUI.

CUI Corrosion Under Insulation / The Challenge
CUI is often difficult to identify because it is hidden beneath
insulation and jacketing until it becomes a more serious
problem…

Advantages of flexible elastomeric foams
12
1. Vapour Resistance
► Closed-cell Armaflex foams have excellent resistance to water-vapour diffusion throughout the whole structure.
2. Low temperature performance
► Low-temperature flexibility to minimise thermal stress cracking and disperse mechanical impact (contraction joints not required)
3. Ease of installation
► Elastomeric foams are available in large sheets and pre-formed tubes which can be easily fabricated around complex fittings.
4. Thermal efficiency
► Armaflex LTD has excellent thermal conductivity of 0.030 to 0.020 W/m·K between temperatures of -50°C and -180°C.

The field was named after the classical Greek
word for “fish”. Most likely resource estimates
are 12.8 trillion cubic feet of gas and 527
million barrels of condensate to be produced
over an operational life of more than 40
years.
Key offshore facilities will include:
Semi-submersible Central Processing Facility
(CPF)
Floating Production Storage and Offloading
(FPSO) unit for condensate treatment and
storage
Two LNG trains with a capacity of 8.4 million
tonnes per annum
LPG and condensate processing plants
Storage tanks for LNG, LPG and
condensate
Product offloading jetty
Supply of insulation materials began in 2014 and will run for 2-3 years Circa 40% of all Insulation materials used on the Ichthys LNG Plant will be manufactured and supplied by ARMACELL Project built in 5 locations prior to delivery to Australia – CUEL and STP&I (Thailand), DSME & SHI (Korea) and COOEC (China) Armacell materials widely used for the FPSO and CPF offshore platform currently under construction in Korea
