Avoid marks on the panel when shearing by fitting a rubber pad to the guillotine clamps. PUNCHING Can be punched with conventional sheet punching machines. Clean cuts are achieved using evenly ground tools and the narrowest possible cutting gap. As with shearing, this method will cause slight drawing or roll-down of the aluminium skin. DRILLING BENDING Minimum radius ID 15 x thickness of the sheet so in the case of 4mm sheet 60mm is required. ROUTING & FOLDING PSP AlucoSign can be routered and folded, either on a CNC or using a hand router. Care must be taken to leave the appropriate amount of core exposed prior to folding. TRANSPORT /STORAGE/HANDLING

PSP AlucoSign comes with a polyethylene masking installed to protect the painted finish from surface damage. Store panels so that they are protected against wetness such as rain and water spray. Failure to do this can lead to condensation forming on the panel which can damage the sheet. Storage along the long edge is ideal if stored vertically. This will help prevent any unnecessary bending or warping of the sheet. Alternatively, stacked on top of each other but care must be taken when removing a sheet from the stack. It is recommended that all four corners are lifted at the same time . Do not drag the sheet across the pile as this could cause scratching of the sheet. Storage exceeding 6 months should be avoided.

PROCESSING

PSP AlucoSign can be processed using the following methods:

SAW CUTTING

ROUTING Either by CNC or portable routers. All bits should be carbide tipped and kept sharp.

Max cutting speed 5000m/min Max feed rate 30m/min

SHEARING Can be guillotined. However the aluminium cover sheet will show a slight roll- down on the impact side. This can lead to increased stress between the core and the aluminium skin . It is not recommended that a sheared edge be exposed to the environment.

DRILLING

BENDING Minimum radius ID 15 x thickness of the sheet so in the case of 4mm sheet 60mm is required.

ROUTING & FOLDING PSP AlucoSign can be routered and folded, either on a CNC or using a hand router. Care must be taken to leave the appropriate amount of core exposed prior to folding. Aluminium skins less than 0.3mm in thickness are unsuitable as folding will in many cases cause cracking and tears in the skin.

INSTALLATION

FASTENING1. Generally fasteners should be of plastic, aluminium or stainless steel.2. Other materials will require inserting insulating washers between the sheet and fastener.3. You should allow for thermal expansion of the sheet, particularly in exterior installations. This will help avoid deformation and/or delamination

at joins.4. Expansion rate is generally 2.4mm per lineal metre. A 2440mm x 1220mm sheet will require approximately 5mm of movement per panel

between temperature extremes.

THREADED FASTENING This will allow for panel removal at a later stage if required. Generally the hole should allow for expansion, so countersinking of screws is not recommended in exterior locations. Be aware that countersinking can prevent the panel from its natural tendency to expand and contract and will also only secure the core and the rear skin of aluminium to the surface being applied to. This may give rise to delamination from movement or weather penetration. Threaded fasteners should generally be proud of the face of the panel and torqued only slightly past finger tight.

RIVETING Countersunk rivets do not allow for movement of the panel and should not be used in exterior applications. In outdoor use and in areas of high humidity, aluminium blind rivets with stainless steel mandrels should be used to prevent corrosion. The hole should be made large enough to allow for expansion and contraction.

Sheet metal/wooden screws with cross recess.

Countersunk screw head with cover sheet depressed.

Tallow drop screws with tapered washer.

Countersunk bore.

Fascia screws for metal substructure.

Fascia screws for wooden substructures.Self tapping screw.

ADHESIVESShould be of a low or medium modulus material to allow for movement of the panel without shearing or loss of bond. Products such as Den Braven can be used at a processing temperature of 5ºC to 40ºC. Many general construction adhesives do not allow sufficient movement and should be avoided if possible, particularly in exterior applications. In general, adhesives should be applied in vertical lines rather than horizontal. This allows drainage of any water as the panels will be between 1 and 2 mm from the face of the wall once the product cures. Adhesives applied in a horizontal fashion will have an effect on curing. Applying in a circle and employing the suction method will also have an adverse effect on curing as the inside of the circle will in effect create its own environment and potentially never cure. Most adhesives suitable for the application of these panels will have a high degree of vertical hold and the application of vertical lines will utilise this to its full advantage. In situations where larger amounts of movement are expected (i.e. Gluing plastics to PSP AlucoSign) then the low modulus material should be used. In cases where minimum movement will occur then medium modulus material can be employed. The colour of the sheet of PSP AlucoSign will also have a bearing on the movement – darker panels will absorb more heat and may move more than lighter coloured panels.

CLEANING

Pre cleaning - For the removal of any masking residue or finger prints, it is recommended that you use technical grade methylated spirit on a clean natural fibre cloth. Regular cleaning with products with a PH rating of 10 or less which do not contain bleaches, ammonia, or caustic ingredients such as sodium hydroxide or sodium metasillicate. A pressure washer used on low pressure with a light detergent should be sufficient for most applications. Always wet the surface prior to wiping and use a soft cloth. Flush with water afterwards.

INCORRECT INSTALL

TAPES Double sided tapes (such as the 3M isotac or acrylic foam) can be used for interior applications with low tensile or transversal strength requirements. In exterior applications they can be used to assist whilst glues are curing.

Note: To avoid possible reflection differences, we recommend installing the panels in the same direction as marked on the protective film.

EDGE SEALINGWe recommend sealing all exposed edges of our Aluminium Composite Panels. The exposed edges may oxidise or delaminate due to prolonged exposure to excessive moisture. This is particularly applicable for projects close to the seaside/coastal areas. The most common way to seal exposed edges is via a silicone based sealant, aluminium profile or bend the edge inside.

ACM Signage: Warranty & Technical ManualWarranty valid when installed correctly and used under normal conditions for a period stated.

PSP Limited warrants that when installed correctly that the panel will:

• Not peel, flake, crack or delaminate when exposed to normal weather conditions. (except for slight cracking, as may occur on tightly roll formed edges or brake bends when processing AlucoSign)

• Have colour fastness according to AAMA 2604-05, with a maximum colour change of 5AE(Hunter)• Colour change (fade/chalking) and reduction of gloss will be consistent when surfaces are equally exposed to the sun and elements.Normal Conditions exclude corrosive or aggressive environments such as those with exposure to chemicals or chemical fumes, salt spray, submersion in water, damage from wind borne sand. Damage to the coated surface due to storage, handling, processing during or after installation, is also excluded.

PSP Limited recommend a regular cleaning programme every 12 months (especially if the panels are exposed to salt spray within 2km of the coast) with warm water using a neutral detergent and a soft cloth to prevent the accumulation of salt deposits, and that all cut edges are sealed or covered with an extrusion.

DO NOT USE any powerful alkaline cleaning agents such as potassium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, caustic soda or powerful acidic products or scouring agents.

Warranty is non-transferable.
