Achievements & Activities 2016 -2017 K. L. International School joins hands with SARVHIT Foundation for “Save Girl Child” mission Social Club of K. L international School in association with SARVHIT Foundation organised a programme KILKARI – ‘Save Girl Child’ on 08 September 2016. The programme was commenced by the live bouquet presentation to guest CDO (Meerut) Mr. Vishakh G., ADM (E) - Mr. Dinesh Chand, Dr. Sumit Upadhayay & Prof. Madhu Vats, DFO and Founder President of SARVHIT foundation. School has taken yet another initiative for working with SARVHIT foundation towards creating awareness and inculcating emotional concern among masses, youth & students against female foeticides. KILKARI gained its momentum with the cultural programme and presentations played for the august gathering, comprising of the Guests of honour, school authorities, media officers and girl students from classes IX - XII. The event attained its further magnitude by the valuable words addressed by the ADM (E) Mr. Dinesh Chand who appealed to the society through the students and participating guests for ensuring safety and security of girl children. Dr. Sumit Upadhayay from LLRM Medical College inspired everyone around, with his contribution by adopting a village in Sirsa, Haryana where the ratio of boys to girls has reached to 1000: 1100. He has also been into the initiative of the Skin bank for acid attack victims and their final settlement by marriage. Dr. Madhu Vats enlightened the audience about ‘Navratan Ke nau Kadam’ – a mission run by Prime Minister and Chief Minister. She also shared her worries of boys and girls ratio in Meerut i.e. 1000: 854. The event Kilkari- Save Girl Child was a great success as it has successfully conveyed the concern to the masses. With immense pride and gratification, we would like to share the successful feat of our students in UP State Kurash Championship (Boys & Girls) 2016-17 at Dr. Ambedkar Sports Stadium, Saharanpur on 4 September 2016. With hundreds of students coming from all over UP, we were able to set a mark once again emerging out of the crowd and were able to achieve 4 Gold, 4 Silver and 13 Bronze medals in different categories. They have made us proud by winning Overall Championship Trophy. Galvanising the unprecedented victory, the students have demonstrated their mettle to achieve the difficult but not the impossible and were selected for National Kurash Championship. We wish our students best of luck in all their future endeavours. An activity was organised by Maths Club Infinity (III-V) wing. In the first round out of 10 only 5 teams were shortlisted then after this activity was into divided into three parts: Geometry Genius, Fast Calculator & Scratch your mind further to this certificated were awarded to the winners.

An informative workshop on ‘Teenager - Girls’ Adolescent Issues’ was observed on 31 August 2016 by Dr. Sudhi Agarwal, Consultant Breast & Endocrine Surgeon for the girls of classes VI-VIII in which they were informed about the changes that occurred during this stage and nutritional diet proportion was also discussed. All the girls were advised to intake food that is rich in protein and calcium for the proper physical and mental growth during this stage. The session was very interactive as some of the girls put forward their queries and got them solved then and there only.

Sanshinkan Karate International Association organised Black Belt Exam in Mac Academy, Meerut on 06 July 2016. Our hardworking students Shivam Singh of class VII got Black belt degree in the event and Vaibhav Vats of class VI got the same. 17 students participated in exam in this Karate event.

GLORY REDEFINED AT SANSHINKAN OPEN ALL INDIA KARATE CHAMPIONSHIP-2016 Sanshinkan Karate International Member Karate Association of India World Karate Federation organised the Sanshinkan Open All India Karate Championship-2016 on 28 August 2016 at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi. 900 students from all over India made their presence in the event exhibiting a grand show of their force and style. Our students proved their mettle once again and added new glory to the organisation by bringing in the all over Runners’ Up Trophy besides decorating themselves with 06 Gold, 06 Silver and 14 Bronze medals. Kudos to the achievers!

A free dental checkup and awareness camp was organized at school for the students of class-II. Dr. Swati Gupta & Dr. Sumit Gupta were carried out a comprehensive dental checkup for the students. The camp was initiated with dental awareness talk, educating students about common dental ailments, tooth decay and gum diseases and measures to prevent from them. During the checkup Certificates were also given to the students those who have good oral health.

Sanskrit Day was celebrated on 29 August 2016 in school. Dr. Poonam Lakhanpal HOD (Sanskrit Deptt.) R.G. Degree College, Meerut walked in as the Chief Guest. Students of classes VI-VIII participated in Shloka Gayan Pratiyogita based on Geeta, Vriksh and Paropkar. Winners were awarded the prizes by the Principal.

A one day seminar on technological advancements was conducted on 26 August 2016 in the school Auditorium for the students of classes IX & X by the Digitech Club of the School. The motive of the seminar was to update the students about the new Apps and Websites and how they could make the best use of them in their day-to day life. The seminar was divided into four parts. The emphasis of the first two parts was to expand the technological horizon of the students. The third part was focused on the troubleshooting part in which their queries were solved. It was an informative session for the students.

On the occasion of Janmashtmi, the toddlers of the school celebrated the festival with great joy and fervour on 24 August 2016. The tiny tots dressed up in denims and kurtas. They tied dupattas around their waist, wore head gears and carried flutes. The students of class Nursery presented a beautiful dance form on the life of Lord Krishna. A beautifully decorated Dahi Handi was hung in the KG Courtyard. Students participated in ‘Matki Todh’ tradition with great enthusiasm. Moreover, the event became super exciting when mothers also joined the programme following yellow colour theme. Students were told about Krishna’s life and his thoughts. This festival taught them to be friendly and also learnt the value of sharing.

K. L. International School Collaborates with Pahal – Ek Prayas Politique- The Humanities Club of school hosted a collaborated event with ‘Pahal – Ek Prayas’ an association working for cleanliness and beautification of the walls in our city- Meerut. The day began with the formal welcome of the Guests of honour – Dr. Vishwajeet Bembi – a medical officer and a social

activist. More than in his magical touch as a doctor he headed forward in touching people’s lives as a founder member of PAHAL– EK PRAYAS the organisation that brings together common people from all stages of life with a single objective not to stop until our motherland is clean and a beautiful place to live in. Mr. Shubham Pahal – co-founder & core member of Pahal – Ek Prayas is pursuing his medical career and looks at all national conferences under Prime Minister Programmes. School choir sang the theme song of PAHAL- EK PRAYAS post which a presentation was played depicting the work of Politique Club within and outside the boundaries of school. The guest team also showed a presentation on a school curriculum based programme on various initiatives taken by the organization to sensitize all and sundry for good upkeep of the city.

ITS, Ghaziabad, conducted the Preliminary Round of Inter School GK Quiz on 22 August 2016 in the school auditorium. The quiz contest was conducted for classes XI & XII, wherein 200 students participated. There was a written round which included an array of questions from different disciplines including General Knowledge, General Science, Sports, Logical Reasoning and Entertainment. Students displayed their intellectual skills and posed a stiff competition for their rivals. The first three winners amongst the 200 students were Sonali Tandon (XII-E), Madhavendra (XII-D) and Shantanu Agarwal (XII-C) answered the questions with dexterity and sailed towards victory. The first winner was rewarded with cash prize, second and third prize winners were rewarded pen drive and pen set. They also got the chance to compete in the final round of the quiz i.e. in the month of November 2016.

INTER SCHOOL KARATE DO- CHAMPIONSHIP 2016 The championship was organised at American Kids Play School, Saket, Meerut by World Budo Shotoryu Karate Association on 21.08.2016. Our Students rocked in the championship by winning 07 Gold 11 Silver and 14 Bronze medals, having competed amongst 8 schools with 150 participants. Our skilled players did us proud by bagging overall championship trophy. We wish them good luck and congratulate them for the achievement.

OUR MEMORIZING ORATORS Eloquent speakers Nandini Gadhok (X-E) and Satakshi Tyagi (X-H) brought us a laurel in shape of Runner’s Up Trophy and did us proud in VI Bro. G.P. Gannon Memorial Inter School Debate Competition held on 20 August 2016 at St Mary’s Academy on the topic “Celebrities get away with ……” 15 prestigious schools of Meerut, Dehradun, Mussorie and Baraut region participated in the neck to neck competition where all participants put their might in putting forth their views and opinion and had made the audience spell bound. We are proud of our orators!

Rakhi is a thread that binds two souls in a bond of joy forever… To acquaint the students with these values and to develop love for the bond between siblings and respect for the festival, Rakhi Making & Thali Decoration Competition was organised on 16 August 2016 in different wings of the school for the students of classes KG - X. All students participated with enthusiasm and fervour. Tiny tots of K G wing turned out in traditional outfit. In addition to this, girls from our school visited Military Hospital to tie Rakhi to the Army Personnel who are away from their families.

The 70th Independence Day was celebrated in school with great enthusiasm and patriotic passion. The function started with flag hoisting ceremony which was done by our honourable Principal. The event was filled with lot of enthralling cultural performances which left the audience spell bound for the entire duration. The message of loving, caring, sharing, cleanliness and respecting all was given to the students. The programme culminated with the singing of the Vande Mataram.

LITTLE POETS MESMERISED THE HEARTS Kavi Sammelan was organised for the students of classes I & II. Students were enthralled to see the little poets reciting beautiful poems in the guise of related poets. They aped the styles of those poets with quite exactness. The poems of Makhan Lal Chaturvedi, Mahakavi Bhushan, Subhadra Kumari Chauhan, Dwarika Prasad Maheshwari, Jai Shankar Prasad, Harivansh Rai Bachchan etc. enchanted the environment and filled the hearts with courage and patriotic fervour.

Students of the school brought laurels by winning silver and bronze medals at ‘India Independence Cup International Karate Championship’ held at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi from 12 August 2016 to 14 August 2016. The event witnessed participation of over 3400 contestants from all over India and countries like Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The competition was fierce, but the team’s grit and determination paid off.

An Inter School Debate Competition was held at Translam Academy International, Meerut on 12 August 2016. The topic chosen for the debate was BREXIT Law - “Its Impact on world’s economy”. A fierce battle of wits was witnessed among the 14 reputed schools of Meerut. The participants put their arguments both in favour and against the motion very convincingly. The judges were highly impressed by the rare and excellent oratory skills of the participants. Yakun Sharma (XII) and Aastha Bansal (XI) enthralled every one and walked away with much coveted first prize as the Best Team and in Individual category they bagged Second position. Accolades to both of you! The school is proud of you!

Visuals Speak Louder Than Words To foster learning effectively the students of classes III-V were given demonstrations and live examples through experiments in the special assembly on 09.08.2016 Students were shown the pictures of Seven Wonders of the World on placards. Experiments depicting mixing of miscible and immiscible liquid were performed live during the assembly in which rose syrup was added to water and shown their miscibility. Oil and water were mixed to portray immiscibility of these liquids. Students found it a fabulous way to learn and obviously such knowledge is permanent. The assembly was concluded by the distribution of prizes for SOF and prized words by the coordinator. THINK ALONE AND IDENTIFY YOUR APTITUDE

School took another commendable initiative of organising a career counselling session for students of all streams in class XI on 8 August 2016. The resource person was Dr. Vikrant Jawla, a Mathematician - an expert in Vedic Mathematics and Algebra, a career counsellor popularly known as ‘Aptitude Guru’. The session commenced with the floral welcome extended to resource person. The guest speaker geared up students by asking a few interesting questions on the desire to be popular. Furthermore, he suggested students to identify their aptitude and not to go with the flow with friends, relatives and acquaintances. He discussed various conventional and non-conventional career options like medical, engineering, law, radio, marketing, digital

marketing, contractors, etc. by citing examples of many successful people in those fields. It was a completely fruitful day for our students.

Laurels brought by stunning dancer students School gives due importance to co-scholastic activities besides academics. Regular dance classes are arranged for students. Their practice has brought laurels when they participated in Meerut Distt. Dance Sports Championship 2016 on 06 August 2016 at PP Conference hall. Following students did us proud by emerging with flying colours in different categories of the competition. A dancing star of school, Gauri Goel (VI-G) was awarded with the first prize (a gold medal & certificate) in folk dance and a gold medal in free style group dance defeating 120 participants. Another brilliant dancer, Palak Singhal (VI-B) participated in classical dance category and secured the third prize (a bronze medal & certificate). She also participated in free style group dance category and bagged a gold medal. Avika Singhal (II-G) marked her presence in free style dance category and brought back a bronze medal & certificate as the third prize in the competition. Heartiest congratulations to the achievers!

Clay Modelling Competition was organised for KG wing on 05 August 2016 to discover the creative talent of little ones. Kids loved to squeeze and squish clay dough between their fingers…They rolled it into snakes and balls, poked it with decorations. Students explored their imagination by shaping & combining materials with clay and enjoyed the activity. Everyone participated with great enthusiasm and the competition gave vent to their creativity.

In order to exhibit high order of gratitude and respect towards our dedicated freedom fighters and their selfless efforts to bestow us with independence, school observed an Inter House Patriotic Group Song Competition in the school Auditorium on 4th August 2016 for the students of classes III-V. All the Houses participated with utmost gusto and the spirit of patriotism really came true. The students were full of zeal and gave their melodious performances using props and presentation. The enthralling performances consisted of patriotic numbers like ‘Akhand Desh Ke’, ‘Janni Jagan maat ki’ etc, which filled the school auditorium with patriotic fervour. The competition reached to its zenith excitement with an absorbing competition among all the participants. Each house showed their mastery over voice modulation, sur, rhythm and other important aspects of singing.

KNOW BIRDS KNOW LIFE - NO BIRDS NO LIFE Sankalp - The Community Service Club organised an activity for the conservation and protection of birds on 3 August 2016 in the school auditorium. The Chairman of the school, Mr. Kuldeep Singh Lamba, Mrs. Gurcharan Kaur Lamba, Ms. Aditi Sharma (DFO), Dr. Madhu Vats & Dr. Rajat Bhargava an eminent ornithologist were invited for the event.

The event commenced by the presentation of live bouquets to the dignitaries followed by potting of medicinal plants. The beautiful and melodious song ‘Oh ri Chirraya…..’ was sung by Nandini Mathur of class X-D which touched the hearts of guests and the audience. Next enthralling performance was a fusion dance numbers of five states of India. Dr. Rajat Bhargava, a profound ornithologist shared his very rich experience of birds. He is known to spot hundreds of species of birds in almost whole of India. He gave tips to students on how to spot birds, identify them and nurture them. He imparted vital information about ornithology to students. Dr. Madhu talked on plantation of trees and saving the environment. Besides this she invited K. L. International to pass on this initiative to 300 school of her association that work for the welfare of environment.

Chief Guest, Ms. Aditi Sharma encapsulated her thoughts and observation in her interaction to students wherein she advised to cure the problems and pollution in the environment by planting more trees and saving wild life. Chairman, Mr. Lamba was pleased to see the new ventures of K. L. I students and wished them good luck for future endeavours. Principal, Mr. Sudhanshu Shekhar culminated the event by thanking all the guests whose gracious presence has inspired and motivated students for taking a step further for humanity and nature. Guests were presented bird houses and souvenir as a token of reverence which they carried along with the beautiful memories they treasured during their short stay here at K. L. International School. The Kindergarten wing of the school celebrated Friendship Day on 3rd August 2016. The day began with the assembly emphasizing the theme of friendship. Students exchanged extremely creative & colourful bands with their friends promising that their bonds will remain stronger. The teachers also staged a skit displaying the importance of friendship in peers’ life and how they can overcome from direst situations with the help of friends. They shared their food in the loving company of their dearest friends. It was a joyous day for them as they understood the significance of friendship day.

Friendship day is a special day dedicated to friends to honour their friendship. To imbibe true meaning of friendship, the school conducted an Inter Class Card Making Competition on 02 August 2016 for the students of classes I & II. It was one of the most awaiting day among the youngsters as they expressed their feelings to their friends on coloured paper. Some of them used stick images to recollect all those incredible moments in life that they spent with their friends. Best three from each section were selected and rewarded.

To make the students aware about ‘Unity in diversity’ of India, the school conducted an Inter House Dance Competition ‘Vividha’ on 26 July 2016. The four houses depicted the culture of Punjab, Gujarat, UP and Maharashtra. All the performances rocked the stage as each one was full of energy, vigour and enthusiasm. The moves, style and coordination of Prakash house stole the hearts of the jury and grabbed the first position. Prerna house emerged as first runner up and Pragati house stood second runner up. Mr. Tejinder Khurana, Vice-Chairman of the school, rewarded the efforts of the students. Mr. S. Shekhar, Principal, while addressing the gathering stressed on the importance of diverse culture of India.

The school is not only concerned with mental growth of the students but it takes care for physical development too. Aerobic gymnasts of classes VI-VIII depicted their choreography, rhythmic and acrobatic gymnastics with elements of aerobic dynamic and static strength, jumps and leaps, kicks, balance and flexibility on 26 July 2016 in Inter House Aerobics Competition. Each house portrayed their energy and strength but Pragati house came out with flying colours and won the hearts of the jury.

Speed Skating Association of Uttar Pradesh (GDRSA) organised 3rd Challenger Cup Roller Skating Open Championship 2016 on 24 July 2016 at DPSG International School, Dasna, Ghaziabad. 350 students from 24 reputed schools of NCR participated in the event. Our very skilled and zealous students bagged 22 Gold, 16 Silver and 13 Bronze medals and brought laurels by bringing in the Overall Championship Trophy.

With KLI’s on-going commitment of ‘Learning with Fun’ and to ensure children enjoy the whole learning process, ‘Inter House Spellathon Activity’ was conducted on 23rd July 2016 for the students of classes I & II. Spellathon is an activity that provides an opportunity to the students to enhance their vocabulary and studying for the spelling test. Prior to this, for almost a fortnight we practiced innumerable spellings, rhyming words and sorting out jumbled words. The spelling specialists of classes I & II thoroughly enjoyed and actively participated this morning in this new form of amazing exercises. Each child got an opportunity to challenge himself/herself to spell as many words as possible. The level of difficulty matched their age and calibre. All the participants performed very well. After a tough competition Prerna House was declared winner.

“A healthy mind resides in a healthy body” (18 July - 22 July) Health is very important aspect of our lives and to create awareness amongst our little toddlers about health & hygiene, an entire week is dedicated for the cause. DAY-5 KG students organised Health Check-up Camp as a culminating activity of the week. They presented themselves as Dentists & Physicians. Little doctors examined the students & parents and suggested them the treatment, prevention and precautions from the diseases. Doctor kids conveyed the message of maintaining good health by being aware and practicing good habits as we all believe in ‘Health is Wealth’.

DAY-4 Little ones of kindergarten carried out a march in the school premises to promote the ‘Cleanliness’ by keeping the school, homes, public places & surroundings clean. Through the placards the students conveyed a message not to litter things here and there but to make use of dustbin. In addition to this students enthusiastically participated in toy washing activity.

DAY-3 Students of kindergarten were demonstrated how and when to wash their hands and they were informed that “Hand washing is the best defence against many kinds of bacteria and viruses that cause infection”. To imbibe creative skills among students, they were involved in art & craft activity in which they prepared tooth brushes.

DAY-2 Today tiny tots were taken to the auditorium where they watched a few videos and presentations which demonstrated to them, the ways to learn good practices like saving water & electricity, benefits of eating fruits & vegetables and were trained for table manners as well. Doctor parents, Dr. Amit Bhatnagar talked on maintaining self-hygiene, Dr. Rajan Sharma directed the less use of laptops and mobile phones whereas Dr. Deepika Singhal presented her views on healthy diet.

DAY - 1 Introduction session has been started today with aerobics to stay fit n healthy. The active and energetic participation of both students & parents exhibited their concern towards their health.

A Hindi Poetry Competition was organised on 18 July 2016 for the students of classes III-V as a class activity on the theme of ‘Mera Dost’. Students recited beautiful poem and spoke on the importance of friendship. The panel of judges declared Aadya Tyagi of class III, Pankhuri Garg of class IV and Ishani Bhardwaj of class V the winners of the competition. The activity developed interest in the literature amongst students.

The intellectuals of classes VI-VIII displayed their technical knowledge in Inter House Techno Quiz Competition. The magnificent and sumptuous event encompassed of four rounds. It is rightly said that “Talent and Hard work never go unrewarded”. With diligent efforts of Pragati House emerged as winner whereas Prakash and Prerna House bagged first runner up and second runner up positions.

Classes III-V observed Etiquette Week between 11 July 2016 and 16 July 2016. Students learnt various values like Greeting guests, seniors, parents and elders. They were given good lessons and talks on self-hygiene and keeping the surroundings clean and green. Special practises were taught for table manners and I know my buddy on Day 3 and 5 respectively. On 16 July 2016 students reflected their journey of the Etiquette Week during the special assembly.

Teachers presented a play highlighting Do’s and Don’ts in the restaurant. The assembly was culminated by the felicitation of the winner of the mission ‘Clean Classroom’. To inculcate a habit of reading newspaper among students, the school organised Inter Section Newspaper Reading Session at school auditorium on 14 July 2016 in which students of class XI participated with full zest. Student Readers read the news of national, international, sports and entertainment sections. The students were assessed on the basis of quality of articulation, intonation, presentation and clarity of voice. All the participants presented the different sections of newspaper with proper confidence. At the end, the winners were given away the prizes by the Principal.

The French Day was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm in K. L. International School on 14 July 2016. The celebration commenced with a melodious song, followed by a speech enlightening the students about French Revolution. There was poetry recitation presented by the students adorned with light music and a dance on a French song. The programme concluded with a colourful parade and acrobatic performance by the students which enthralled the audience.

To pay tribute to our mother tongue “Hindi”, School has conducted the Inter - Section Hindi Recitation Competition for the students of classes Nursery to U.K.G on Cleanliness or Health & Hygiene on 13 July in the school Auditorium. During the activity each child was called on the stage to recite any Hindi rhyme of their own choice. Students were selected on the basis of theme of the poem, rhyme, pronunciation and confidence. Students presented beautiful poems in attractive attire using various props with full vigour & Zeal.

A workshop for the students of Literary Club & Debating Club was conducted under project ‘Aawaz’ by Mr. Vibhor Mathur & Mr. Tarang on 12 July 2016 on public speaking skills, critical thinking and general awareness. They used very interesting activities to teach students voice modulation, using hand movements and expressions. While addressing the public or communicating in a group, high energy drills ignited the participants’ mind and they participated very actively and enthusiastically. It was a great learning experience for all of them.

On 12 July 2016, Innovators Club of the school organised an enlightening programme for the students of classes VI-XII. In the first session, students of classes VI-VIII demonstrated PPT on adulteration and tested about ten samples of daily consuming items. They guided how to check adulteration. Dr. Rahul Bansal, HOD Community and Medicine Department of Subharti Medical College, was the guest of honour. The objective of this knowledgeable session was to acquaint the students with the use of chemistry in day to day life. In the second session Dr. Rahul Bansal addressed the students of science stream on the topic “Health & Food: Let us make the right choices” He motivated the students towards the healthy life style by showing the adverse effects of various food items through PPT in which views of different researchers were also discussed. It was a fruitful session.

Heartiest congratulations to Palak Singhal of class VI for winning the first prize at National Level in All India Dance Sports Championship 2016 held on 11 & 12 June 2016 at Chandigarh organised by Dance Sports Council of India. She has excelled the championship in solo dance category in 8 - 12 years age group wherein she presented a folk dance.

Congratulations to SHAURYA PRATAP SINGH of Class VI for securing II rank in HINDUSTAN OLYMPIAD 2016 at District Level. He has received a cash prize of Rs. 3100 along with the Certificate by Mr. Shri Ram Sakal Gurjar, Sports Minister, U.P. (Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports) for his outstanding performance.

The weekend of 28-29 May 2016 this year will forever etched in the minds of the 43 participants who attended the leadership camp. The object of two days camp, held at Dugadda, Near Kotdwar was to instill leadership qualities and improve team work among the Apex body members. All the activities were conducted by an expertise team of trainers. Upon arrival they were immediately whisked off to the seminar room where they were given a briefing on the rules and regulations at the campsite by the facilitators. All the activities were physically and mentally challenging. They were put into groups and set out for rock climbing and rope related activities. The second day of the camp was much more hectic. In the morning they had a rigorous exercise session which involved yoga and jogging around campsite. Then, after breakfast the participants had another round of physical activities. The leadership camp was a huge success because all participants showed tremendous support by actively participating in all the activities throughout the duration of the camp. A Felicitation ceremony was held today in our school to honour the brilliant stars of class XII who made the school proud with their spectacular results. Topper from:

May 21, 2016 was marked a very auspicious occasion in the KLI almanac as Investiture Ceremony of Junior Wing of the school was organised with gusto. The programme initiated with a motivational song “Tum Samay Ki Reit Par”. The deserving young talents of the primary wing were bestowed with the responsibility of leading the school from the front. The Vice-Chairman, Manager and Principal of the school gave the badges and sashes to the newly elected students’ council. The Jr. Head Boy Raman Pant, Jr. Head Girl Ananya Ahuja, Jr. Vice-Head Boy Janmajay Tyagi and Jr. Vice- Head Girl Shreya Tyagi along with other office bearers received their badges and took the pledge to abide by the school’s motto ‘Knowledge Discipline Character’. 7th Open State Karate-Do Championship - 2016 was organized at Modern School, Nehru Nagar, Meerut by Chakrawarti Samrat Ashok Ratan Committee (India) and Traditional Shotokan Karate Academy (India) on 15 May 2016. 130 students from 8 reputed schools had participated in the championship. Our able Karate Champions bagged 4 Gold, 5 Silver and 2 Bronze medals. Kudos to the achievers.

Voice of Bard- The Inter School Dramatics Competition was organized at Gargi Girls’ School on 12 May 2016 as a ‘Meerut Sahodaya School Complex’ activity. 10 schools participated in the event conducted under three categories. Master Janmajay from IV-F secured second position in the category of monologue. He presented a monologue from ‘Merchant of Venice’ a Shakespeare’s creation. The another category of scene enactment our participants won 1 consolation trophy for Best Props and Best Stage set up. We congratulate our winners and wish them good luck for future.

K.L. International School shared the essence of yoga To enjoy the benefits of body, brain and soul synchronisation, teachers of classes Nur-V are being given a special training session on yoga. They are learning to get inner peace, improving immunity, concentration and stay stress free. They were also taught to give relieve from countless ailments at the physical level and mental as well. School is likely to have better staff with improved vigour and vitality to be

more productive in quality teaching and facilitating.

Yet another session of yoga was organised for the senior students to relieve them from stress and boosting their energy level to combat the daily struggle of life. They were trained to focus, memorise and stay free from tension and anxiety.

The Yoga practice session was conducted in the school premises for the students to excel their concentration and meditation span. Students were encouraged to inculcate yoga in their daily life for strong immunity.

A special session of yoga was arranged for the tiny tots of KG Wing. They learnt to breathe in the right way and to concentrate well.

The karate champs emerged as proud winners of 3 silver and 6 bronze medals in the KAUP Sub Junior, Cadet, Junior and Under 21 State Karate Championship 2016 held in Green Park Stadium, Kanpur.

The students of our school expressed their love for their mother through a special gesture on the occasion of Mother’s Day. Message writing, pottery, colouring worksheets were some of the activities which marked the occasion. The school invited mothers of kindergarten students for celebrations. The students supported their mothers in pot making activity besides singing songs as a tribute to ‘Mother’. Students of classes VI-VIII prepared little surprise for their mother in their classes as they penned down their emotions on postcards to show how much they love her and what she means to them. The school will post these postcards to their

mothers to strengthen the emotional bonding of this beautiful relation. An opulence of talent was witnessed in Indian International Model United Nations- IIMUN, Meerut, Chapter 2016-17. The convincing hearings and dealings of our students in the various events left everyone mesmerised . Students proved their mettle and won best delegate titles in Lok Sabha, UNSC, HRC, IAEA and also grabbed 10 medals in the event. In addition to this our school emerged as the proud winner of Best Delegate trophy.

GO GREEN

To inculcate the habit of maintaining Clean & Green environment among our young learners, a small effort has been taken by K.G Wing on Monday, 2 May 2016. Our Little Cherubs sowed the saplings. They were also shown the different types of plants and were made aware of the parts of the plants. We also took a ‘GO GREEN’ test of our young minds. In this process they learnt that plants are useful to us & need to be nurtured. Tender hearts were enthralled by this activity which taught them much with such ease.

01 May is internationally celebrated as ‘Labour Day’. Like every year, the KLI fraternity celebrated the Labour Day occasion to salute and applaud the indispensable service of the helping staff in the smooth running of the institution. The auditorium resounded with a thunderous applause of gratitude as the maintenance staff was welcomed. The celebration was a visual treat for all. It comprised of a song, heart throbbing speech and emotional presentation of ‘Bachpan Ki Yaden’.

The solo singing competition was organized by Sanskriti Club for the students of classes IX-XII. This has helped the children to showcase their talent and gain confidence. The competition was judged by the very talented musicians Mr Atul Tyagi (Pianist) & Mr. Rajesh Pandey (Vocalist). The competitors gave out a variety of song & their performance was appreciated by all.

Our students performed amongst 250 participants from 10 teams of Delhi, Bareilly and Meerut in North India Karate Championship-2016 held at Meerut City Public School, Meerut on 23 & 24 April 2016. Our skilled performers bagged 5 Gold 3 Silver and 10 Bronze medals besides the Best Team Award. Principal, Mr. Sudhanshu Shekhar congratulated the winners and wished them good luck for future endeavours.

A VISIT TO OPEN HOUSE-2016 (IIT DELHI) A group of 53 students of Science, Eco Club and Class XII visited IIT Delhi on 23 April 2016 along with the teachers. They visited various departments and came across several new inventions. The department that they visited include- chemical, Engineering, Biochemical, Biomedical, Physics department centre for Atmospheric Sciences, Computer Science Department etc. The trip was a great success and the students visited and participated in Maths Quiz organised.

EARTH DAY CELEBRATION Earth Day was celebrated on 22 April 2016 to sensitize students for the conservation of earth and environment. Tiny tots of K. G. Wing went around the school campus and made beautiful Book Marks exhibiting their imagination and creativity. Students of classes I-V planted saplings and vowed to conserve them. They participated in Car Litter Bag Making competition to spread the message of using litter bags in cars and not throwing garbage outside. Classes IX & X wrote very sensitive and emotional slogans to appeal the students & staff to contribute in the conservation of environment drive.

Vasu Kapoor and Shivank Maheshwari proved their oratory skills in the Inter School Debate Declamation Competition- an event organised by Sarokar on 20 April 2016 at Dewan Public School, Meerut. Their expression, diction and convincing power won the hearts and minds of the judging panel and got successful to win their place for the next round. Congratulations the orators and wished them good luck for their future endeavours.

Our karate champs bagged 07 Gold, 11 Silver & 09 Bronze medals in the District Level Karate Championship after competing among 120 participants from various reputed schools & qualified for U.P. State Level Championship. We are proud of these achievers and wish them all the best of luck for the State Level performance.

Amateur UP State Roller Skating Championship 2016 was organised at IIMT Academy, Meerut on 14 & 15 Apr 2016. 315 students from 11 districts participated in the event. Our very competent participants bagged 13 gold, 11 silver and 4 bronze medals for exhibiting their skills with such a grace and zeal.

SANSHINKAN DISTRICT KARATE CHAMPIONSHIP 2016 (Trial) was held on 10 April 2016 at Mangal Pandey Nagar, Meerut. 140 students from various schools had participated in the event. Our skilled and zealous representatives proved their mettle in the championship and brought back 14 gold, 10 silver and 21 bronze medals along with the Overall Championship Trophy. Congratulations to these achievers who are now eligible to appear in the District Level Competition to be held on 17 April 2016.

Celebrating the first step of tiny tots in school, KG Wing cater the emotional need of the new comers Nursery by inviting their parents for a couple of hours to get acquainted with the environment and what all is provided to these young minds who are all set to imbibe the optimum. What a thrill ! What a fun! My first day in school with Pa and Mum!

Meerut District Roller Skating Association organised Amateur U.P State Roller Skating Championship 2016-17 (Trial) on 3 April 2016. Through the prowess of the wheel balancing, skaters of the school outshone the seventy skaters of the renowned schools of Meerut and have been qualified for the state level round to be held on 14 & 15 April 2016 at IIMT Academy, Meerut.

Meerut District Shotoryu Girls Karate Championship-2016 Self Defence Karate-Do Welfare Association organised Karate Championship-2016 at Satyakam International School. 120 students from reputed schools of Meerut, Hastinapur and Modinagar participated in the championship and left their marks by their excellent exhibition of skills. Four of our participants: Shreya Goel (II-H), Palkin Balyan(I-E), Gauri Rastogi (I-D) and Naina Raghav (I-E) bagged silver & bronze medals.

The New Academic Session 2016-17 began with the blessings of Goddess Saraswati and notes of Sitar when students of classes II-VIII had attended a special morning assembly and offered their prayers with an auspicious of favourable start followed by a presentation on sitar by an eminent sitar player Mrs. Nirupma Saxena. She played a melodious tune of “Ram Ratan Dhan Payo” and a few others. Next presentation was performed by a renowned artiste Mr. Atul Tyagi who provoked patriotism in the audience by playing the patriotic tunes on the piano.
