From a diary entry by Mary about

her son.

My son was taken to be crucified. His

disciples were nowhere to be seen.

Only me and his friend Mary

Magdalene were there. He was taken

to a tomb. One day we went to the

tomb and the rock had been moved.

An angel appeared and said “Jesus is

alive for he is the son of God.

Easter b lessings AT this time of Easter, when we consider new life and new beginnings, with the signs of spring now all happening around us in every daffodil, every ray of sunshine, every blossoming tree, it is a good time to look forward with hope and optimism. Our iShare theme this half term, somewhat appropriately, has been ‘Tough Times’, but as we get started in our new term, our theme will be ‘Hopes and Dreams’. What hopes and dreams do you have for these coming weeks and months? For some of us, these might be quite small things we have previously taken for granted, like a hug from a friend or enjoying a meal out together with family. It may well be that a sense of hope and optimism is still lacking, with still some uncertainty about the future, but at this Easter time, I am reminded of how that first Easter must have been for Jesus ’ disciples. When all their hope had gone and their dreams disappeared, as they saw the man they had followed and given their whole lives to, beaten and crucified, they would have felt crushed and confused. However, the resurrection of Jesus, celebrated by Christians on Easter Sunday, reminds us of hope beyond hope and that, even in darkness and despair, we can know ‘new birth’ and ‘living hope’: Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth

into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Peter 1:3 Thank you so much for all your continued support, prayer and

encouragement for each other and our school community at this time, and

throughout this whole term – a term like no other! It has been a delight to

see our Ashford children all returning to school in recent weeks and leading

the way for us adults in just getting on, moving forward and enjoying new

learning.

May I wish all of our Ashford families a safe, healthy and blessed Easter

time and some good times ahead as a family over the next couple of weeks.

Jesus carried the cross to the

top of the mountain.

The cross symbolises how

Jesus loves us and that he

was willing to die on the

cross.

It teaches us to be friends

The infants Easter bonnet parade THE Infant children took part in their very own Easter parade this week to showcase the wonderful

Easter bonnets they had made. We were delighted with all the hard work that went into make these

wonderful creations, Well done to all the children,

The art of eating SOMETIMES there is nothing

more comforting than

chomping on you favourite

foods. If it looks appealing

then it’s even better. In

Meerkat class this week they

have been creating some food

art which was inspired the

work of Guiseppe Arcimboldi .

They have

been learning

about

seasonality in

their theme of

'Chewing,

chomping,

munching

and

crunching' .

behaviour and showing respect to others.

The trim trail is officially open! A most exciting new addition to our school was declared officially open this week. The procedure was

presided over by Mr Meehan and Mrs Pyke, while our PTA Chair, Mrs Gemma Dilello cut the ribbon.

A huge thank you to all the PTA who work tirelessly to raise money for our school so that our children

may benefit from such exciting additions as this. The trim trail will be open for children to use in their

year group bubbles after the Easter Holiday. Of course the grown ups had to have first go and Mr

Austin and Miss Beacham can confirm that it is a lot of fun!

Readathon and on and on and on and on...

WHAT do you love reading? Is Harry Potter your thing? Perhaps you

like a David Walliams book, it could be you like to read a comic or a

magazine, it actually doesn’t matter what your choice is you can get

involved in the readathon. Just choose your books and magazines and

get reading! Don’t forget to try and get a few sponsors and help to

raise some money so that children in hospital will also get lovely books

to read.
