The Heart of Christian Character Club C-Club was created by a group of pastors who wanted to provide churches with a tool to teach children Biblical character traits in the development of practical Christlikeness. Using the theme of building and construction, C-Club makes character development simple and understandable to even the youngest “clubber”. The curriculum is divided into age appropriate tiers that allow every child to learn at his or her own ability level. The ultimate goal of C-Club is to instill into the lives of the children attending the club meetings the fundamental building blocks of faith, obedience, honesty, love, patience, kindness, endurance, attentiveness, reverence and more. These character
traits are taught, memorized and demonstrated through Bible lessons, Scripture verses, songs, games, skits and group activities. The practical application of Bible truth is the heart of Christian Character Club.

Love is caring about others because God cares about me and
sent His Son to die for my sins.
The C-Club curriculum is divided into two twenty-four week cycles. This allows the clubbers to focus on each character trait for two weeks before going on to the next trait. This extra time with each trait allows the teacher to spend time explaining the Biblical basis of the character trait as well as the practical application in everyday situations.
Curriculum Cycles
When the children arrive at C-Club they meet as a group in the opening assembly. The clubbers use this time to say pledges. During the opening time, the character trait of the day is sung and talked about. Then the club splits into guilds and alternate through the C-Club program. At the end of C-

C-Club time for the Little Builders is designed to be active and engaging for these 3, 4 and 5 year-old clubbers. The Little Builders sing action songs and have contests during the opening time. The lesson time is focused on simplifying the character trait of the day into easy to understand language and applications. The lesson time also shares the good news of Jesus Christ with the clubbers and challenges them to accept Christ as their Savior. The games, crafts, and snacks times are creatively fun and allow the Little Builders to explore the character trait they are learning and review past traits as they participate. The Little Builders club activity booklets allow the clubbers to practice each trait with developmentally appropriate pencil and crayon activities. The boys and girls in Little Builders have a great time learning from God’s Word and applying the truths to their lives.
how God will use them and bless them when they are controlled by the positive character traits in their lives. The clubbers also enjoy the skits and games as the character trait of the night is reinforced through skits, object lessons and the physical activity during the games. The Apprentice Guild allows the clubbers to learn the traits and start applying the character qualities to their lives on a practical, daily basis.
The C-Clubbers in the Apprentice Guild are 1st through 3rd graders learning how Christian character traits are necessary building blocks in a life that honors God. As the clubbers see the wrong actions and consequences of people in the Bible,
they are challenged to discover these sins in their own lives in order to confess and forsake these sins before God. The Apprentice clubbers are also shown from the Bible

The Journeyman Guild encourages 4th through 6th graders to focus on the practical application of the Christian character traits that they have learned over the years. Through the Handbook activities where they are challenged to apply the Scriptures to their lives, the games, and the Bible lessons they are taught not only the meanings of the character traits but how to apply that trait to their own life thus helping them to be a more useful tool for the Lord. The clubbers are encouraged to practice the traits they have learned as they continue to grow and develop Christlike Christian character.
For smaller churches, consider combining the program and using one guild curriculum for all the students. This will allow a fewer number of workers to successfully accomplish key program goals.
The bus ministry at your church can use the C-Club handbooks on their bus route and help the students learn their Club verse and definition as they ride the bus.
If there is a nursing home or retirement community near your church, contact their Activities Coordinator and arrange a time for your C-Club to sing Christmas carols or perform an Easter program.
If your church is having a missions conference, have your clubbers chose a missionary and dress up like the missionary or the people where they minister.
If you want to encourage outreach, try a “Bring a Friend” day. Each clubber brings a friend to C-Club and the Guild with the most visitors wins a special prize.
For many churches, C-Club works great for a Wednesday evening program. Other churches have had success running the program on a Sunday evening along with their regular service.
C-Club is a great time for discipleship. Just like Jesus used everyday moments to teach His disciples, look for opportunities during the Opening assembly and throughout the Club time to reinforce character traits. These teachable moments are the key to lifelong learning and lasting change.
If there isn’t enough time for a skit, activity, snack, craft, or game, consider rotating. One club day have the lesson and a game, the next night have the lesson and a craft, and the next night have the lesson and a snack. The elements of C-Club can easily be adjusted to meet the needs of your church ministry.
“Bible Poster Night” is a great activity for the C-Clubbers of all ages. Each child creates a poster or model of a Bible story and the character trait the story illustrates. Judges choose the best model from each guild and those winners receive a special prize.
One C-Club church contacted a local shopping mall and brought their C-Club to the mall to sing Christmas carols.
If you are looking for a great way to encourage the C-
Clubbers to get involved in Missions, consider taking an offering each night of a quarter and sending all the monies to a missionary your church supports. This is a great way to teach the clubbers about missions and be a blessing to your missionaries.
Weekly Awards Each week C-Clubbers earn stickers for activities completed in their Handbook and the Family Manual. They also earn points for memorizing their Bible verse and character definition, bringing their Bible, wearing their uniform and bringing visitors. These points are turned in to C-Club Bucks which they may use at your church’s C-Club store at the end of each term. In addition, C-Clubbers earn their C-Club shirt by memorizing the club theme and verse.
Term Awards At the conclusion of each 8-week term, clubbers may earn the following ribbons:
Endurance Award — For attending 7 of the 8 weeks of the term.
Responsibility Award — For saying all the verses and definitions for the term.
Year End Awards Annual awards given to clubbers include:
Endurance Award Medal — For perfect attendance. A child is allowed one absence per term.
Responsibility Award Medal — For saying all the verses and definitions for the year.
