This guide has been prepared to give you all those extra details that you need in order to set out and enjoy this charming National Trail.This is a delightful and quiet part of the country . This means that some pubs and cafés are closed at certain times of the week . Use this guide to ring ahead and check if places are open .

We hope you enjoy your walk!

About the Accommodation GuideThe Accommodation details cover the full range available from hotels through to pubs that allow camping in the beer garden . It is highly advisable to book ahead as accommodation can become booked up especially in May and the Summer months when the route is most popular . It is also worth considering starting the walk mid-week in order to find accommodation or reversing the route by starting at Filey . The Yorkshire Wolds Way Partnership cannot be held responsible for any inaccuracies or consequences arising out of the use of this guide, as prices are subject to change . Walkers are advised to check details for themselves when booking . Please remember to give the accommodation providers advance warning if you require evening meals, packed lunches or wish to bring pets with you . Please note that prices quoted are room rates . Many double or twin rooms can be let as singles for a lesser single room rate .

Maps and GuidesThis guide is a companion to the official Guidebook for the Yorkshire Wolds Way which is by Tony Gowers and Roger Ratcliffe and published by Aurum Press . The route guide includes Ordnance Survey 1:25 000 strip maps of the route and is available from all good bookshops and the National Trail on line shop . Ordnance Survey Explorer Maps are also available for the Yorkshire Wolds . The four maps are 293, 294, 300 and 301 .

In addition there is now a Yorkshire Wolds Way Adventure Series Map from A-Z that uses Ordance Survey maps .

Public TransportIf you are planning to walk the full route from Hessle to Filey then it is better to leave the car at home and travel by Public Transport . This could not be easier as both ends are connected by a regular rail service and there is also a bus service directly between Filey and Hull .

If you are walking stages of the Yorkshire Wolds Way over separate days you will find details of bus or train routes to each settlement along the ‘Way’ in this guide .

European VisitorsIf you are arriving at Hull using P&O Ferries, you should be landing at about 8 .00am . The company will then provide a bus to take foot passengers to Hull Rail Station . From Hull Station, the easiest route is to catch the regular trains to Hessle . From Hessle Station, cross the railway bridge to the South and turn left on Redcliff Road . As the road bears left the Yorkshire Wolds Way starts on the right .

Diversion on the Humber ForeshorePlease note that there the route is currently unavailable on the Humber Foreshore near the start of the route, due to major engineering works . We recommend that walkers still visit the start and see the Humber Bridge close up, then catch the train from Hessle to North Ferriby and pick up the trail from there . There is an alternative road route, but we don’t recommend it unless really necessary, as it follows pavements along busy road lengths .
