To Our Customers:

The purpose of this Owner's Manual is to familiarize you with your automatic door system. It is essential

that you "know your system", how it operates, and that you recognize the importance of maintaining your

door system incompliance with the industry standards for safety.

It is your responsibility, as owner or caretaker of the equipment, to inspect the operation of your door

system on a daily basis to insure that it is safe for all users of the door.

This manual will provide you with a description of the operation and maintenance requirements of your

door system. It also provides the instructions for the "Daily Safety Check" procedure. It is recommended by

Stanley Access Technologies LLC that the "Daily Safety Check" be performed at least once a day and after

any power outage. Occasional observance of the doors as they are in use is also recommended.

Should the door fail to operate as prescribed in the "Daily Safety Check", or at any other time for any

reason, do not attempt to repair or adjust the door. Discontinue operation of the door and call for service

by a Stanley AAADM-certified service technician. Our technicians are trained to service your door in

accordance with applicable industry safety standards.

Functional Description

Few things you do for your business convey the effortless sense of service and convenience of a Stanley

Dura-GlideTM automatic sliding door system. It provides the ultimate in accessibility by invisibly sensing

each approach and silently sliding open to create an inviting opening and a gracious exit from any location.

The Dura-Glide Series 2000 and Series 3000 have become the standard for smooth, reliable service for

high pedestrian traffic locations. The Dura-Glide Series 5000's telescoping design gives you a wider clear

opening than standard two-panel doors without increasing the overall size of the door frame. The IS 10000

provides a clear opening for not only pedestrian traffic but material handling equipment such as forklifts,

etc. All Dura-Glide door systems combine over 60 years of proven Stanley performance with an advanced

microprocessor design to deliver the most trouble-free operation available.

Dura-Glide Series 2000, Series 3000, and Series 5000 door systems offer a wide

variety of sensor options including our standard SU-l 00 microwave motion sensor

and our StanGuard® infrared threshold sensor. In addition, we offer StanVision™

vision-based sensor for both safety and activation. The motion sensor mounts over

the door and activates the operator to open if it detects oncoming traffic. The

StanGuard threshold sensor monitors the threshold area and prevents the door from

closing if it senses a person or object in the doorway. The model IS 10000 comes

standard with our SU-l 00 motion sensor and two doorway holding beams to

prevent the door from closing on pedestrian or material handling traffic.

Other activating alternatives used are mats, wall plates, radio controls, jamb

mounted push buttons, key switches, keyless entry keypads or card readers.

You get complete safety protection with all Dura-Glide automatic door systems. In

addition to our microwave and infrared sensors, the microprocessor controller

contributes to safety with its built-in logic function that reverses door operation in

the unlikely event an obstacle prevents the door from closing.

Stanley Access Technologies Dura-Glide automatic sliding door systems eliminate the position switches

that cause 30%-40% of all service problems in other doors. Our motor encoder does the job electronically,

monitoring door position at every point in the operating and closing cycle for the increased control with

fewer moving parts. The doors are driven by a toothed timing belt and pulley system which prevents

slippage and ensures smooth, consistent door motion time after time.

An automatic door is a complicated assembly of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components that

make up a system that you depend on to provide convenience and safety to all users. Lack of maintenance

on your door equipment can have significant implications on the cost of ownership.

Stanley's total service and properly scheduled maintenance will extend the life of your equipment and keep

it performing to its full potential.

Operation

Function Switches:

The function switches for the Dura-Glide operator are located on the underside

of the door header or on the jamb of the stationary panel (see diagram). (Note

remote locations for the ISl 0000 series.) The function switches are:

• Power Switch - this switch is illuminated a red color when the power is

on. This switch should not be turned off unless the door is being

'. serviced.

• Auto/Close/Open Switch - this is a 3-position switch that allows the

door to function automatically (auto); stay closed and not function at

all, but remain secure (close); or hold open indefinitely (open).

• Enter switch - if the door has the "Access Control" feature installed,

this switch will change the mode of the door so that it will not open

from the outside.

• Reduced Opening Switch - if the "Reduced Opening" feature is

installed, this switch will cause the door to open partially.

Emergency Breakout:

In case of power failure or other emergency, our sliding doors "breakout" to

provide a wide opening, so you're always assured of a clear exit (not available

on the 1510000 series). Whether your location has the Dura-Glide Series 3000

or Series 5300 with all panels breaking out or the Dura-Glide Series 2000 or

Series 5200 with just the sliding panel(s) breaking out, you are in compliance

with safety codes.

Break out means that if you push the leading edge of the sliding panel outward,

as you would a swing door, the panel will unlatch and pivot outwards. This can

be done at any point of the door's normal slide path. If the doors are broken

out, there is a switch that will disable automatic operation. The doors will not

function automatically unless the panels are returned to their normal,

completely closed position.

the door(s) to open completely.

6. Turn "AUTO/CLOSE/OPEN" switch to "CLOSE" position (DO NOT STAND NEAR THRESHOLD OF

THE DOOR). The door(s) will begin to close slowly, allow the door(s) to close completely.

7. Put "AUTO/CLOSE/OPEN" switch to the "AUTO" position. Door(s) will function properly.

Daily Maintenance

Housekeeping

General housekeeping maintenance should be provided by the owner or

responsible person in charge. Check the door area for tripping of slipping

hazards. There should be no bulletin boards. literature racks, merchandize

Troubleshooting and Hints

PROBLEM:

ACTION:

Door(s) will not operate (will not open or close)

Is the power switch on? If not, turn it on.

)~

~

~

~

"AUT/CLS/OPN" (Auto/Close/Open) switch should be set to "AUT". If set to

"CLS", door(s) should close and remain closed - sensors are off. If set to

"OPN", door(s) should open and remain open.

If the power switch is on, the door(s) may need to be reset. This is done by turning the

power switch to the "OFF" position. Wait a few seconds, turn back "ON" and allow the door

to re-tune itself. The door(s) will open and close very slowly in a search

mode and, if possible, the door(s) should not be interrupted during the

process. If traffic must go through, door(s) will open at regular speed then

when zone is clear, c1oor(s) will close at regular speed until they reach the

point of interruption then resume search mode (slow speed) until closed.

Check all panels for breakout. Are all doors securely in place (not broken

out)? May require up to SOlbs. of force to push back in. Do they manually

slide all the way open and closed with little effort? If not, is the track clean?

Door(s) does not open or close smoothly.

Check the bottom tracks for dirt and debris. If the tracks require cleaning,

break the doors out and vacuum all dirt and debris from the track area.

PROBLEM:

ACTION:

Door(s) only operates from one direction.

Door(s) may be equipped and set up for one-way

traffic. There will be a switch labeled "ENTER" or

"ONE WAY". When set to the "NO" or "OFF" position,

traffic will only be allowed from one direction.

Door(s) should have decals with directional arrows

on one side and "DO NOT ENTER" on the other side.

(May be entrance or E~xit door.)

If the switch is set to "YES" or "ON", the door(s)

should work from both sides and is intended for

two-way traffic. In this case, door(s) should have yellow "CAUTION" decals visible from both

sides.

PROBLEM:

ACTION:

Door(s) open part way, stops and stays OR stops and closes.

Is door(s) equipped with "RED.OPN" (Reduced Opening) switch? This switch is for cold, windy

weather. When set "ON" or "YES" position, door(s) will only open to a minimum ADA

allowable opening of 32"-36". When set to "NO" or "OFF" position, door(s) should open fully

and shut normally.

If set to "ON" or "YES" and door(s) does not open to 32"-36" OR opens part way and stops,

authorized adjustment needs to be made. Customer should turn "RED.OPN" switch to "NO"

or "OFF" position until a service call can be made.

This would not be considered an emergency.

Is there an obstruction: a) in the floor track? In the path of the door? In the path of the

sensors? This may include a threshold sensor or a doorway holding beam. Does door(s)

manually slide open and closed? If not and customer cannot find obstruction, recommend a

service call.

Door(s) open and stay open OR start to close and re-open (recycle).

Check for anything new in doorway area (inside and outside) and near the threshold sensor.

This would include throw rugs, mats, loose signs taped to door(s), benches, ash trays,

garbage cans, magazine racks, trash, newly waxed floor, or any other change in the

environment.

Door(s) may need to be reset. This is done by turning the power switch to the "OFF" position

("AUT/CLS/OPN" switch to "AUT;RO" switch to "NO"; "ENTER" switch does not matter). Wait a

few seconds, turn back "ON" and allow door to re-tune itself. The door(s) will open and

close very slowly in a search mode and, if possible, should not be interrupted during this

process. If traffic must go through, door(s) will open at regular speed then when zone is

clear, door(s) will close at regular speed until they reach a point of interruption then resume

search mode (slow speed) until closed.

Door(s) stay fully open and does not close.

Turn power off. The door(s) should close after a time delay. This action will rest the sensors

and allow the Stan-Guard™ to automatically re-tune itself.

Door(s) should open and close normally when approached and should not attempt to close

until the area is clear. This should be tested from both sides for two-way traffic.

If door(s) does not work properly at this time, customer should turn door(s) off and a service

call should be scheduled.

Door(s) open too soon or too late

Sensor zones are not properly angled and adjusted. This problem requires service from an

authorized service technician.

TERMINOLOGY INDEX

1. Activating Zone - It is the detection pattern (zone) of approximately five feet by five feet protected

by the motion sensor. When someone enters the zone, the control is actuated and the sliding door

panels open.

2. Emergency Egress Position (Breakout> - The sliding door panel(s) swing outward for emergency

egress. The sliding doors are inoperative in this position.

3. Header - The top horizontal aluminum tube that contains the operating mechanism.

4. IN Door(s) - Designed for traffic into the building only.

5. Motion Sensor - It is a self-contained microwave unit mounted on the header. When someone

enters the zone, the control is activated and the sliding door panels open.

6. OUT Doors - Designed for traffic out of the building

7. Recycle - When a door is closing and it is activated, it immediately reverses and goes to its "open"

position.

8. Breakout - A term applied to describe the ability to allow emergency egress through the door(s) in a

manner different from its normal operation. In sliding doors, the sliding panel swings out.

9. Reset Door Panels from Breakout Position - Push the swing out door panel(s) closed to their normal

position.

10. Safety Zone - The area covered by motion sensors and Stan-Guard™ threshold presence sensor.

11. Sliding Door - A door sliding parallel with the wall or face of the bUilding allowing access.

12. Threshold - Area of the floor that contains the door track where the panels move over.

13. Stan-Guard™ Threshold Sensor - A presence sensor mounted on the underside of the header,

directly above the door opening to detect the presence of a person or object in the pathway of the

door.

14. Holding Beam - A device which employs the use of a visible or invisible light beam across or

through an opening. When the beam is interrupted by a person or object, the signal is generated.
