In March 2008 Access Bank completed the acquisition of 75% stake in Bancor SA

The acquisition process was in adherence to International and local best practices, working with International firms like “Accenture”

The choice of Bancor SA is because we share common values, Humility and mutual respect, culture of excellence and professionalism

With this acquisition, Access Bank will leverage on Bancor’s solid customer base and create “Africa’s Bank of Best Practice” with operations in line with global best banking practices and staffed by Africa’s best and brightest banking professionals

This completion of this acquisition will greatly strengthen both the Access Bank Group and Bancor by accelerating the attainment of our Pan-African growth objectives and enhancing our business portfolio

• Gbenga Oyebode was educated at University of Ife (LL.B Honours) and University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia (LL.M Honours) where he graduated in 1979 and 1982, respectively.

• A Barrister & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria (Admitted June 1980) and an Attorney-at-law of the Supreme Court of New York State (Admitted November 1983). Mr. Oyebode is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, and the American Bar Society of International LawChairman

• Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede is Alumnus of Harvard Business School, Executive Management Programme and also holds an LLB and a BL degree from the University of Benin & the Nigeria Law School respectively.

• He is a Fellow of the African Leadership Institute under the auspices of Aspen Institute, Colorado USA and an Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIBN) 

• Herbert Wigwe, an Alumnus of Harvard Business School, Executive Management Programme holds a B.Sc. Degree in Accountancy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and Masters Degrees in Banking and International Finance from the University College of North Wales and Financial Economics from the University of London.  He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

• Herbert started his professional career with Coopers and Lybrand Associates, an international firm of Chartered Accountants prior to his banking career. He has over 10 years banking experience and has managed several portfolios including Financial Institutions, Corporates and Multinationals. He is the Group Deputy Managing Director of Access Bank Plc

Okey Nwuke is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria. Mr. Nwuke has expertise in credit analysis, financial management and general banking business operations. Mr. Nwuke holds a B.Sc. degree in Accountancy from University of Nigeria and an MBA (Distinction) degree from the Birmingham Business School, United Kingdom. Okey has been exposed to several leadership and professional development programmes at renowned global

institutions of excellence including Harvard, INSEAD, Wharton, IMD amongst others.

Managing Director/ CEO

Jean Claude Karayenzi was educated in the George Washington University . He has expertise in credit analysis, financial management and general banking business operations from different banks that include Piedmont Federal Saving Bank, Virginia, U.S.A, Riggs National Bank, Washington D.C, U.S.A , Allied Bank International, Uganda, And Cogebanque, Rwanda. In addition to his B.Sc. Degree in Finance obtained with distinction Mr Jean Claude holds a masters degree in Business Administration, Accounting option (with distinction). He is currently the Country Managing Director of Access Bank Rwanda Ltd., a subsidiary of Access Bank plc for more than 10 years and a Board member of different organization in Rwanda including the Private Sector Federation of Rwanda. Jean Claude has been exposed to several leadership and professional development programs.
