Targoviste – History

•Capital of the Romanian Country with interruptions strating with 1396 until 1714. During voivode Neagoe Basarab has been settled here Romanian Country metropolitan after Radu cel Mare has built the first church of the Metropolitan –Dealu Monastery.• The most important voivodes, anti-ottoman policy rulers and having an important mark on the cultural life: Mircea Cel Batran,Vlad Tepes, Radu cel Mare, Neagoe Basarab, Petru Cercel, Mihai Viteazu, Constantin Brancoveanu•Chindia Tower which apparently has been built by Vlad Tepes after 1450 is considered the architectural symbol of the city•The city suffered significantly arson, massive destruction done by the Turks after the reign of Matei Basarab and Constantin Brancoveanu and after eterists defeat in 1821 (Tudor Vladimirescu was killed by them)
