GREEK MARKET IS ABOUT TO BOOM!A

BOU

T WHY BALKANSOur 5th annual WINDMission Balkans conference and exhibition focused on the Balkan wind power sector is a well-established meeting point of choice for local and international wind energy experts wanting to stay in the know on this developing market.

As every year, we are hosting the most active wind projects developers, investors, consultants and renowned energy lawyers from Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania and Bulgaria. Whether you are already active in the Balkan wind energy market or are would like to learn about it for the first time – this is the networking conference where you will meet all those who are in the know.

NATIONAL TARGETS AND SCOPE FOR GROWTH

There is huge potential for wind energy (in the Balkans) ... but more stable policies and better support mechanisms are needed to ensure steady growth,” the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) said in a report that tipped Serbia as the most promising market. The region is also attracting investors as its prospects for economic growth are expected to outpace that of euro zone.

Final energy consumption may grow by about 25% over the period up to 2030. The region has a significant transformation potential towards a low carbon energy system. The current share of renewable energy of gross final energy consumption in the Western Balkans Six is 28%.1 The renewable energy mix almost exclusively consists of biomass and hydropower. Besides further increased use of biomass, significant growth is also expected in wind and solar power. Until 2030, the highest growth is expected to be in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, although the highest relative growth can be expected in Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
