We are celebrating
National Youth Week at
Araluen Christian College.
On Monday, Chaplain
Dave was ably assisted by
Year 5 and 6 students to
provide a sausage sizzle
for the whole college as
we began National Youth
Week. We welcomed
acclaimed poet Cameron
Semmens to the college
on Tuesday. Cam worked
with our Middle School
students and was well
received.
Some students from Years
5-9 will be attending a
Science Challenge and a
Science Discovery day at
the end of the week.
Tomorrow we hold our
ANZAC Assembly, led by
Year 5.
This week we also
welcomed back, Mr. van
Leeuwen to the teaching
staff for a brief time.
The council met on Monday
evening with Phoebe from
NT Christian Schools to
train us in matters of
governance. I am pleased to
congratulate Mrs. Marsha
Maule-Murphy who has
become the new ACC
Council secretary. The
council is currently working
on plans to improve safety
in the parent car park.
The college Council will
meet again shortly to
discuss how Araluen

From God’s Word
James 5:11 “As you know,
we consider blessed
those who have
persevered...The Lord is
full of compassion and
mercy.”
We live in a world full of
brokenness, pain and
hardship. Jesus modelled
perseverance in his time
on earth.
God has sent his Holy
Spirit to help us to
transform our hearts and
minds and to strengthen
us when we face setbacks
through our faith and
hope in Him.
I pray that you know
God’s strength and love
this
week.

National Youth Week at
Araluen!
We have been celebrating
our students this week for
National Youth Week!
Everyone enjoyed a free
BBQ on Monday, as well
as a free pen (and
sunglasses for primary
and a drink for middle
school). Well done to the
Year 5 and 6 class for
their excellent cooking
and serving of the BBQ –
great to see how happy
you all were to help! You did
a fantastic job.
On Tuesday, thanks to a
grant from the NT
Government, the middle
school students took part in
a poetry workshop by
Cameron Semmens. Cam is
a leading poet in Australia,
having published 16 books
and won multiple awards.
The grant helped us fly Cam
up to Alice Springs and he
ran three workshops, sharing
some of his poetry, teaching
