The mission of Jabari Inspires is to uplift and inspire lives around the world and serve as a role model, teacher, and advocate for the youth, young professionals, and aspiring entrepreneurs. The Dream Catchers Academy boasts an innovative curriculum and coaching program based on skills that are necessary to thrive in today’s ever-evolving world. The Academy takes an experiential approach to engaging and enlightening students and clients in these core areas, and seeks to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders for the global community. Jabari Smith, 29, is an international speaker, social entrepreneur, and--with 19 countries under his belt--a global citizen. A proud native of New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, Jabari has a wealth of unique experiences under his belt. After graduat-ing from Howard University with honors, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism, Jabari lived and taught in Japan for two years as a par-ticipant in the Japanese Exchange & Teaching (JET) Programme. In 2012, he helped to re-elect President Barack Obama as an Organizing For America (OFA) Field Organizer and Youth Out-reach Coordinator. Jabari has never shied away from chasing his dreams relentlessly. A self-pro-claimed life-long learner, Jabari received entre-preneurship training from the Kaufman Founda-tion’s FastTrac NewVenture New York City-based program in 2010. He now uses that training to pursue his personal business endeavors, and to empower other young entrepreneurs. He has done this through his work with YouthBiz, Inc. in Denver, Colorado in which he led the organiza-tion’s Aspiring Entrepreneurs in-school program and assisted high school students in launching their own businesses. Jabari relocated to Nairobi, Kenya in June of 2013 as a member of The Ama-ni Institute’s founding class, where he undertook Advanced Social Entrepreneurship and Social In-novation studies. After extending his stay in Ken-ya, Jabari stepped into the role of Chief Opera-tions Officer of Africa Community Development Media (ACDM), a Nairobi-based media house geared toward uplifting underserved communi-ties and boasting Safari Africa Radio and Safari Africa TV platforms.
Jabari strongly believes that everyone should live out their purpose and promotes self-determina-tion through motivational speaking, coaching and workshops. He was recently given the distinct honor of delivering an impassioned TEDx Talk, titled “Debunking Stereotypes through Global Citizenship”, during the 2014 TEDxYouth@Kili-mani in Nairobi. Excited and grateful to carry out his mission across the globe, Jabari has no doubt that the best is yet to come.
