OUR ACADEMYIn 1982, NAF (National Academy Foundation), a national network of career-themed academies, partnered with public high schools with the purpose of transforming high school years into a real world or work experience.

Beginning Fall of 2020, North Johnston High will partner with NAF and open The Academy of Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing (AOEAM). The academy will integrate engineering/advanced manufacturing courses with academic instruction in a small learning community to expose students to career options with opportunities to earn certifi cations and further education.

With AOEAM, industry will be used as the lens through which everyday problems are analyzed, approached and solved.

CURRICULUM*The academy engages students in a rigorous project-based curriculum. Our curriculum is vetted by industry professionals and designed to keep pace with industry standards.

*A cohort of Academic Teachers, including English, Science, and History, will join CTE (Career & Technical Education) Advanced Manufacturing Teacher to form a curriculum designed to address soft skills, work-based certifi cations, and higher education needed to be career ready. Each semester of their high school career, students will be in a cohort of two classes (e.g. English/Science and/or History/CTE Advanced Manufacturing). The pairing of courses will vary through high school.

*Students have the opportunity to have a seamless education through North Johnston High School, Johnston Community College, and East Carolina University.

*Students have the option to stop at any level of education based on their career goal.
