REVIEW OF HIGH POINTS FROM DR. GORDON GEE’S ADDRESS

High Points – Dr. Gordon Gee’s Address

On LSU’s Reorganization Efforts – There are certain things that are better done at different levels, but there is a need for consistency and structure that allows for effectiveness and efficiency. Move from complacency to urgency. Colleges are in the business of ideas. Be curious about how you structure and reform yourselves.

On Cross Campus Integration – The Ohio State University is one university, with one degree with six campuses. Each campus contributes to the whole and they are all front doors to

the main institution. Faculty, regardless of our campuses, are faculty at The Ohio State

University. Smaller campuses are a way for us to comfortably serve all students

of the state.

Integration

How can we integrate the campuses and curricula of LSU BR, LSU S, LSU A and LSU E to take advantage of strengths and improve academic quality?

Page 25: Academic Sub-Committee, March 11, 2013

25

The Ohio State Model

What are the pros and cons of The Ohio State model from an academic standpoint?

Is there more information that we would like to have?

Page 26: Academic Sub-Committee, March 11, 2013

26

Resource Realignment

One of the recommended best practices for higher education is to develop strategies to deal with lost productivity and realign resources from non-performing programs and professors. How could LSU better utilize their resources to

reward and retain productive faculty and successful programs?
