Title of Motion: Request from the College of Design – for the reorganization of an academic unit

The Curriculum and Academic Programs Committee recommends Academic Senate approval of a proposal submitted by the College of Design for the reorganization of an academic unit

Rationale: The College of Design has reorganized itself to promote a structure that will optimize the

possibilities of differentiation, excellence, and collaboration. As a result of this reorganization it is proposed that the School of Design be reorganized as three departments. The College of Design is responding to the growing number of students who seek admission into these professional programs by placing emphasis on each discipline’s strength and uniqueness.

In an effort to move forward and align the College with the redesign of the Arizona University System, the reorganization changes the way of doing business and further defines differentiation of the disciplines in the College.
