AAA ANALYSIS:
COMMERCE – TAXATION:
1. It is appreciable fact that the department is running a certificate
course for the students.
2. The department has also put an extra effort in arranging internship
programmes for their students which is not a part of their curriculum
designed by university.
3. The two faculty members of the department are members of
Academic bodies and almost all faculties have participated,
presented and published various research papers in journals and one
of the faculty has published a book which was included as prescribed
text book of MG University.
4. Innovative teaching methods like using MOODLE platform for
curriculum delivery and evaluation, open text book examinations
were conducted.
5. One of the student from the department has secured 9th position in
the university examinations for the undergraduate programme
(B.Com) and one of the faculty has been awarded Ph.D degree
during the year.
6. Field projects which is a part of the curriculum was carried on in the
areas of current and socially relevant topics.
7. Being a post graduate department, it was noticed that research
oriented activities were less during the year.
8. No initiative taken for coaching for competitive examinations
especially NET coaching.
PHYSICS:
1. The department needs special mention about introducing innovative
teaching learning methods during the year
2. It was found that the department has taken keen interest in
establishing collaboration / linkage with other institutions.
3. There are 3 students in the department from other domicile
(Lakshwadeep) and faculties have taken active measures to support
these students in all spheres.
4. Faculties have taken up research very seriously and has attended
various seminars / workshops, presented and published research
articles etc.
5. One of the faculty member was awarded Ph.D degree during the
year.
6. The department should focus on introducing certificate courses,
providing internship programmes for the students.
7. No initiative taken for coaching for competitive examinations
especially NET coaching.
CHEMISTRY
1. A highly industry oriented certificate programme was provided to the
students during the year.
2. It is appreciable fact that the department was able to provide their students’
academic flexibility by encouraging them to take up non science subjects
for their open courses.
3. The department successfully arranged three skill development courses for
the students.
4. The department holds a student from other domicile (Lakshwadeep) and
facilitates all provisions for giving this student special attention and care.
5. One of the faculty member has been awarded Ph. D degree during the year
6. Two student research project funded by KSCTE was received during the
year and department was able to mobilise a total amount of Rs. 20000/-
from the same.
7. A commendable effort taken by the department of chemistry during the
pandemic COVID -19 was producing and distribution of sanitizers freely
to the institution which helped for the smooth conduct of university
examinations in the campus.
8. Another remarkable achievement for the department was that they were
able to grab the first three ranks for the undergraduate programme (B.Sc
Petro) and one of the final year student who have secured first rank got S
grade which is the highest grade in university.
9. The department should give due consideration for arranging competitive
examinations and career counselling activities for the students.
10. The department should encourage students to participate in competitive
examinations and should arrange internship and interactions with industry
and focus on alumni contribution.
MATHEMATICS:
1. Being a post graduate department, the department provides coaching
classes for students to win competitive examinations especially in NET.
2. The department organised an awareness programme on the pandemic
COVID 19.
3. A well-structured bridge and remedial course was designed and
implemented by the department
4. No certificate, VET, Add on courses offered for the students
COMPUTER SCIENCE:
1. The department has taken tremendous effort in offering 4 certificate
courses for the students during the year catering to the academic
flexibility.
2. Innovative teaching methods like conduct of quiz, assignment etc through
Moodle is adopted in the department.
3. The placement status of the students of the department is highly
satisfactory, the students are well placed in renowned IT firms.
4. The ongoing regular practice of rendering helping hand to the students of
blind school and initiative taken by the department to collect and dispose
e – waste is really appreciable.
5. The faculties of the department should concentrate more on research
related activities.
COMMERCE – COMPUTER APPLICATIONS:
1. Innovative teaching methods using social media platform and group
and peer teaching is adopted by the department.
2. The department organises remedial and bridge coaching for the
students.
3. Career counselling activities undertaken by the department needs
special appreciation.
4. The department should concentrate on improving the results of the
students.
5. It is noted that only few teachers are actively participating in
research oriented activities.
ENGLISH
1. The department ensures active participation of students in media
visits which will help the students to know about the real work
atmosphere they learn from theory.
2. Participation of students and faculties in swayam courses, movies
and documentary screening are some of the innovative teaching
learning methods practiced by the department.
3. One of the student has published a book on her poems which is a
major highlight of the department.
4. One of the faculty member Pratheesh Peter have been awarded his
Ph.D degree during the year.
5. The drop out of the students are a major hurdle for the department.
6. The department should focus on improving its results as well as
concentrating on research areas.
TOURISM
1. A certificate course in foreign languages initiated by the department
is a commendable achievement during the year.
2. As part of innovative teaching learning measures, department
conducts flipped learning, practical session of preparation of
itinerary and tour costing through their own tour consultancy.
3. The department organises adventure sports activities, national trips
and also a travel vlog for promoting unknown destinations.
4. The department has 3 MOU/ Linkages.
5. Two of the students from the department has secured 14th and 8th
rank positions in MG university examinations during the year 2019-
20.
6. Adventure sports activities and survey on local satisfaction about
responsible tourism on behalf of DTPC are some of the best practice
of the department.
BUSINESS ADMININSTRATION (BBA)
1. Innovative teaching methods like Hangout teaching, Table of
reading is highly appreciable.
2. Various experts from industry are invited for expert lectures for the
students.
3. The department organised remedial and bridge courses focusing on
weak students with a structured time table and syllabus.
4. The paper bag and file making and marketing was a impressive
measure adopted by the department towards green initiative
movement in the institution.
5. Best class award, climate crisis warriors are few of the best practices
of the department.
6. The department should take special attention in improving the
results of the students as well as to equip themselves in research
arenas.
BIO TECHNOLOGY
1. The department organises a certificate course on mushroom
production technology and has a skill development course.
2. One of the faculty member has been awarded best paper presenter.
3. The faculty members have actively participated in research related
activities and published various papers in recognised journals.
4. There is one linkage between MES college, Marampilly.
5. Uyir Neer Pathathi – water quality testing and free sanitizer
distribution were the community extension activities undertaken by
the department during the year.
6. Commendable performance of the departments towards the results -
80% and one of the student has secured 10th position in MG
university examinations.
ECONOMICS
7. Flipped learning and Reverse Teaching are few of the innovative
teaching learning methods practiced in the department.
8. Two career counselling programmes were organised by the
department during the year.
9. Structured remedial coaching for the students were carried on.
10. The most outstanding performance of the department is that it has
produced first 10 ranks in MG university examinations held during
the year 2019 -20.
11. The department should pay attention on the drop out rate of students.
12. Socio economic survey carried on by the students under the guidance
of the faculty members is the best practice of the department.
