Transcript of ACA Today Wrap Up: June 2014 J Thoughts from ACA’s...
ACA is committ ed to glorifying God by discipling students in a loving community that pursues excellence
as we partner with parents in Christian education.
As oft en is the case, when the Lord puts something on our heart to do, it requires a step of faith. Last July, my wife Karen and I were asked to step out in faith and begin Atlantic Christian Academy on the campus of what had been home to a 40 year legacy in Christian education. God was leading, and we believed that it was His will for this campus to continue to be used for the purpose of training up the next generation of Christian leaders in Palm Beach County. Where God guides, He provides, and He was faithful in providing the seasoned leadership necessary to begin this new journey. Mr. Jim Rozendal, who brings over 35 years experience in Christian education, has done an exceptional job this first year while serving as ACA’s Headmaster. When ministry leaders choose to walk in faith and trust God there is an incredible opportunity for God to work. When staff, parents, and students choose to follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit and step out in faith behind those leaders, there are some amazing possibilities ahead. Those

truths are some of the thoughts I would use to describe the last school year. What began as a work of the Lord in July 2013 has led to a series of experiences that will be life-changing for hundreds of people. Our students experienced amazing spiritual and academic growth. They had success in the classroom, on the athletic fi elds, and in the arts. There were some amazing trips, chapels, outreach opportunities, and challenging experiences that caused everyone to grow in their faith. There were teachers who sacrifi ced time and energy motivated by a love for God and the pursuit of excellent education for the sake of our students. There were parents who worked two jobs, drove daily to school, and sacrifi ced greatly so their children would be able to receive a Christian education. So what does God have in store for us this next year? Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Ephesians 3:20-21We are very excited about the new opportunities ahead and are ready to face the challenges as well. As a staff we continue to look to God’s Word and stand on His promises. This ministry has

been characterized by a daily walk of faith and we invite you to make sure that you, your family, and your friends are on board for the journey ahead. It is one of the most rewarding pursuits that anyone can be a part of whether as a leader, a teacher, a parent, or a student.. We have exciting plans for this 2014-15 school year as we introduce some new teachers and continue to strengthen our academic curriculum and staff training. We will also continue to move forward with remodeling the facility as funds become available through our ACA community. F inal ly, our loving and dedicated staff are committ ed to fulfilling the mission of our school: Atlantic Christian Academy is committed to glorifying God by discipling students in a loving community that pursues excellence as we partner with parents in Christian education.Let’s break it down:We are committed to seeing Christian education thrive in Palm Beach County. The leadership team shares that commitment, and we are excited to partner together…to glorifying God by reaching this next generation and helping them to become all

that God created them to be...by discipling students through training them up spiritually, academically, socially , through the arts, and on the athletic fi elds…in a loving community 5 days a week, 8-10 hours a day while we share biblical truths in the classrooms and through extra-curricular activities…that pursues excellence in all that we do…as we partner with parents, because though God has given you the primary responsibility of raising your children, it is our desire to come alongside you and help your children discover their God-given gift s and talents and become all that God has created them to be!Please pray for the leadership, staff and families of ACA as we move forward into what is sure to be an exciting journey as we partner together in Christian education! Let’s make sure that as many people as possible are part of what God is going to accomplish this next year!Rooted in Christ,Pastor Mark Davis, President Atlantic Christian Academy

A Day in the Life...
Holocaust Survivor Shares InsightOn Mon, April 28th, in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day, we had the privilege of welcoming Mrs. Zelda Fuksman to ACA. Mrs. Fuksman, who was just a child in Poland at the beginning of
the war, shared how her family survived the Holocaust. 7th -12th grade students were very touched by her story and the advice she gave them: “Enjoy your education…participate in it for your own good… your education is one thing that no one can take away from you!”
“Tommy is a diligent student who consistently completes his seat work. He uses his time wisely if he fi nishes early by reading books from our class library center or by reading his Bible. Tommy loves to look up and fi nd our weekly class Bible verses! I know that God is pleased with all of Tommy’s hard work this year. Tommy is a blessing to have in our 1st Grade class!!”Love, Mrs. Heers
“Matias is a very dependable young man and a friend to everyone. He is always looking for ways to help others out, whether it is a teacher or a student. Matias shows
great leadership in the classroom and is careful to always include others when working on a group project or
organizing a game at recess. Matias is responsible, works hard, and always does his best. He is a great example for
the younger students to look up to!”Love, Mrs. Beatt y

Una celebración internacional! The 5th grade celebrated International
Day by representing a country and sharing information about it to
their class. Many students chose to represent their own countries of origin,
some of which included Jamaica, Cuba, and Venezuela! Aft er sharing
their report and participating in a parade through the school, the 5th
grade feasted on foods unique to their country. What a great day!
The 2nd grade class had an oral book report and decided to dress up like their favorite character from the story. Many of the boys read about a boy detective “Encyclopedia Brown”. Jordan’s godparent is a detective from the police department. He came in for questions & answers and to hear Jordan’s report.
Resource Room Rug WOW! Look what we were able to purchase using the funds
from the Scholastic Book Fair held in the fall! Thank you, parents! The students LOVE it!
Jamaica, China, Mexico... it certainly seemed as though we had special litt le visitors from
all around the world! The preschool children went all-out as they celebrated their own
International Day in late April.

It has been wonderful to see the progress and development of these talented (and smart!) youngsters. We are so proud of them all... welcome to 1st grade! Thank you, Mrs. Gill and Mrs. Walker for training up these children in the way they should go... Prov 22:6
What promise these litt le blessings off er for the future of ACA! The Preschool K4 Graduation program showcased what these wonderful children have come to learn: not only did they know their pledges (do you?), sing and dance, they displayed their understanding of sign language, solfege and Spanish. Yes, the future is bright indeed for our K4 graduates!

This was a very fun and educational trip and a great time for bonding. The amazing guided tours were so well done and very interesting. My favorite was the Gett ysburg batt lefi eld. This is a monument at Cemetary

Eighth Grade Goes to Washington Our 8th grade Washington, D.C. trip was a great bonding and learning experience. Students anticipated it all year long! They were able to spend a week touring our nation’s capital and get the inside scoop on what an amazing city it is. From the National Archives, to the Lincoln Memorial, to the Smithsonian Museums, our students had a busy schedule taking in the beautiful sights of D.C. Four of our students had the special honor of participating in the wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington Cemetery. It was a breathtaking experience! In addition, we were able to tour the batt lefi elds of Gett ysburg and head towards Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to Amish Country. This trip truly was an unforgett able experience that our students will carry with them forever! - Miss Elizabeth Espina

“It was great being able to shop for the orphanage kids and then fi nally meet them to play. Right when I walked in a couple of the boys came up, hugged me and wanted to play - and I had only been there a minute. Seeing how happy they were with as litt le as they had and watching them play? Priceless. Jesenia was my favorite. The island was really fun - gett ing to play volleyball, soccer and go snorkeling... but I didn’t see a turtle...” Matt Swanson
“The orphanage experience proved that love can never be replaced with money. I love the way God defends orphans. I met children with the most amazing spirits. I felt a connection like that of a mother and her child and how only a mom can make them smile. I thank God for this experience. It was such a beautiful country.” Collyn Saldana

The Class of 2014 had an amazing Costa Rica trip. Students and chaperones shared many adventures such as whitewater raft ing and ziplining, but the greatest impact was the time spent ministering at an orphanage in LaFortuna. Our students realized how truly fortunate they are and how many opportunities they have compared to the children there. Eyes were opened, hearts were soft ened and lives were changed forever because of this experience. - Senior Class Sponsor Mr. Tom Sanders

Boys Varsity Baseball: An Unexpected Season This has been a great year
for ACA Baseball. We began the season with just a few experienced players and
went on to become district and regional runner-ups. We were one game away from states! Despite that
disappointing loss, a lot of growth took place. We were really able to grow in Christ as we saw His faithfulness to us. God showed us that anything is possible if you put your faith in Him and
believe. When I say ‘believe’ I mean not only with your
words, but with your actions. As we went into this
season not knowing what to expect we trusted in God as a team and God did the unexpected. God brought a unique group of guys
together to do something
