AC Schnitzer ACS5
The 5-series (E60/E61) from
BMW, with its avantgarde design
and superb engineering, has
immediately taken and extended
the lead in the Business Class.
Another success story for driving
pleasure.
To enhance cars which inspire
enthusiasm even as standard,
giving them more individuality,
exclusivity and sports perfor-
mance, is the true passion of
the AC Schnitzer engineers and
designers.
With all their experience, enthu-
siasm and unbridled passion for
perfection, they have developed
a range of special accessories
which systematically adopt the
technological and aesthetic
concepts of motorsport. With
the ACS5, the result is a vehicle
which fulfils all conceivable
criteria of exclusivity and indivi-
duality.

This performance upgrade is
complemented acoustically and
visually by the AC Schnitzer
sports rear silencer of special
steel. Its glorious sound and
chromed tailpipes in Racing
Design set subtle highlights.
Drivers of a BMW 5-series are
renowned for setting higher
than average standards. In their
job, their environment, and for
themselves. Whether these
expectations are fulfilled or even
exceeded is usually a question
of attitude. So we've applied this
principle to the 5-series with our
diesel performance upgrades.
Up to 228 kW and a maximum
torque of 650 Nm catapult
the 5-series into a new driving
dimension: from 0 to 100 in
The AC Schnitzer performance upgrades for BMW 520d, 525d, 530d and 535d consist of the Control Unit Program.

What good is the best perfor-
mance if it can't be transferred
to the floor. The same principles
apply to the stock exchange and
to car construction. The perfor-
mance values of many standard
units leave almost nothing to be
desired.
The optimum transfer of this
power to the road however is
the real challenge, above all
when driving comfort must not
suffer for sports performance. A
challenge which AC Schnitzer is
renowned for meeting superbly.
So well that even experienced
journalists go into raptures -
such as in AutoBild sportscars
02/2006: "The certificate in the
glove box (suspension set up on
the North Loop) awakens high
expectations which are not dis-
appointed. The result is perfect,
comfort-oriented – after all, most
customers drive from Munich
to Hamburg more than on the
Nürburgring."
Performance is not just a matter of horsepower.

Sporting body design still has
to handle air resistance. So the
aerodynamic components of
front skirt, side skirts, rear roof
spoiler and rear skirt are not just
aesthetic enhancements. They
make a decisive contribution
to the optimum balance of the
ACS5 on the front and rear axle;
this is true of vehicles both with
and without M-Technik pack.
As well as this balance, air flow
within the vehicle is a further
aspect. The generously dimensi-
oned air ducts of the front skirt

firstly improve cooling of the

their striking outfit give enhan-
ced overtaking prestige.

stronger visual presence can set

points with the AC Schnitzer

BMW has already written auto-motive history once with the figure 507. In 1956, Albrecht Count Goertz created an auto-motive design dream – the BMW 507 Roadster. Today, around 50 years later, this figure again has magical significance – as the performance figure for the stan-dard V10 engine in the current M5.
In comparison with the base model, the AC Schnitzer engi-neers have magicked a good ten percent more power out of the M engine. With its special
Technical Details from Motorsport: The front flipper of carbon can be joined to the front-spoiler via chromed aluminium struts if preferred. The chromed front grille ensures an adequate supply of fresh air to the engine bay and at the same time increases overtaking prestige.
507 – the second life of a legendary number.
control unit, special exhaust manifolds. sports catalysts and a twin sports rear silencer system with increased gas throughput, the ACS5 Sport develops 406 kW/552 HP and – thanks to the elimination of the V-max limit – in the saloon version is braked by driving resistance only at around 320 km/h. Naturally the power is also available for the BMW M5 Touring.
The AC Schnitzer ACS5 Sport Touring raced past the laser measuring instrument in the high speed test at Nardò, Italy,
in October 2007 at 313.9 km/h. Convincing proof that it offers enough room in every respect for incomparable driving pleasure.
But even without the power upgrade, the exhaust system can be optimised. With the new design of twin rear sports silen-cer of special steel, and the new chromed tailpipes in Sports Trim or Racing Design, the M5 has a perceptibly more powerful voice with optimised exhaust flow and response behaviour.
Hard to believe, but even the driving dynamics of the BMW M5 can be improved further by the use of the AC Schnitzer sus-pension spring kit. The lowering by around 25 mm lowers the vehicle's centre of gravity further and allows clearly more sporting driving with unchanged suspensi-on comfort.
And with high tech from motor-sport, the aerodynamics can be optimised further by efficient modifications. The carbon front flippers are linked directly to the front spoiler via chromed
aluminium struts. This increases downforce on the front axle and the striking finish enhances over-taking prestige.
The rear roof spoiler, rear spoiler and rear skirt with integrated carbon diffuser make an extra contribution to both the aerody-namic and the aesthetic balance of the sports saloon and Touring models. And the chromed front grille with the shark's jaw retro look is not just a visual delight – it also fulfils the increased air requi-rements of the V10 engine.
Superior engineering, striking design: The rear roof spoiler, one-piece rear spoiler, rear skirt with integral carbon dif fuser and sports rear silencer system with Sports Trim Design, are appreciated by engineers and artists alike. The aluminium strut brace for the M5 (small left picture) provides additi-onal stability on the front axle.
Extreme sports are becoming more popular – even on the road.
552 HP to 500 litres – the values
have a numerical relationship,
but that is more by chance than
technical calculation. It is not
the power to capacity ratio so
beloved in motorsport, but the
two values reflect part of the
vehicle philosophy of the AC
Schnitzer ACS5 Sport Touring.
Because where else is there
so much room for an outstan-
ding concept in a sports estate
of this calibre? Room which
ambitious sportsmen of many
disciplines can put to good
use. Surfers, mountain bikers
or paragliders – the generous
luggage capacity combines with
dynamic driving pleasure at a
particularly exclusive level.
Dynamic epicentre: With AC Schnitzer racing wheels Type VI in 20" and BiColor finish, the wheels act as a visual magnet. Pure decor with clear contours:
AC Schnitzer Vitro for the decor trim on the side wall opening is an optical delight (far right). Front spoiler elements of black carbon and the second front-grille of chrome set visual accents in the ACS5 Touring Sport.
Exclusive room for sophisticated top sportsmen.
The AC Schnitzer GP3.10 GAS POWERED At 318.1 km/h in the high-speed test in Nardò, this is the fastest gas-powered car in the world.
Aerodynamics for all the senses: The rear diffuser of carbon is as elegantly integrated into the rear skirt as the AC Schnitzer twin rear silencer system with chromed tailpipes in Sports Trim Design (bottom).

When the performance concept sets new records.
The annual high speed tests
on the race track of Nardò in
southern Italy show that the
performance concept isn't just
a theory of our engineers and
designers but can be proven in
reality on the road. Here the AC
Schnitzer ACS5 Sport Touring
raced through the measurement
barrier at 313.9 km/h – a value
which is only rarely seen for road-
legal vehicles.
In these speed ranges, optimum
set-up of all relevant vehicle
components is vital: engine power,
force transmission, suspension
technology and aerodynamics
must create a harmonious overall
picture. A task which has been
achieved again with spectacular
success under the leadership of
race-experienced Technical Direc-
tor Manfred Wollgarten in the ACS5
Sport Touring.
Innovative wheel design
must fulfil two contradictory
demands. Sports-enthusiastic
engineers and artists demand
a reduction in wheel weight on
one hand, and maximum wheel
diameters and widths on the
other. To solve this dilemma,
AC Schnitzer offers four design
solutions for the 5-series.
The Innovative: With variable
spoke design, it always cuts an
innovative figure – AC Schnitzer
Type III as multipiece racing
rim or one-piece alloy wheel in
dimensions from 18" to 20".
The Avantgarde: As a re-inter-
pretation of the 5-spoke design,
the AC Schnitzer Type IV wheel
sets new standards. For the
5-series, it is available as an
alloy in 18", 19" and as a racing
rim in 19", 20" (for all 5-series).
Forged Wheel: The lightweight
forged wheel is a technical and
aesthetic pioneer. Partly polis-
hed, partly lacquered surfaces
and weighing just 10 kg in 9.0J
x 20" – the ultimate solution.
Hybrid Design: A pleasing
mixture of the classic five-
spoke wheel and the striking
Y-spokes, AC Schnitzer Type
VI continues the evolution of
wheel design. Available for the
current 5-series models in sizes
18" one-piece and 20" multi-
piece.
AC Schnitzer Motorsport Wheels Type III, multipiece, silver with polished outer bed, in sizes 8.5 J x 18", 9.5 J x 18", 8.5 J x 19", 9.5 J x 19", 9.5 J x 20" and 10.5 J x 20", optional individually paintable design elements (see back page)

AC Schnitzer Racing Rims Type IV, silver or black with polished edge, in sizes 8.5 J x 19", 9.5 J x 19" (only in silver, not M5), 9.0 J x 20" (front + rear) and 10.0 J x 20" (rear)
The AC Schnitzer carbon interior trim in titanium "Exclusive", the 3-spoke sports airbag steering wheel and numerous further accessories transfer this authentic motor-sport atmosphere to the interior: alumini-um cover for the BMW " i-Drive-System" with engraved Type IV wheel and the AC Schnitzer aluminium pedal set, aluminium handbrake handle, automatic selector lever and AC Schnitzer velours mats.
The transfer of technology and
design makes for an authentic
motorsport feeling. AC Schnitzer
airbag sports steering wheels
are particularly ergonomically
designed and finished with lea-
ther or carbon trims. To match,
there is the carbon interior trim
in "Exclusive Design". The com-
bined effect gives a high quality
ambiance.
As well as the ultralight carbon,
almost equallylightweight alumi-
nium with sophisticated brushed
finish is used: foot rests, pedals,
automatic selector lever with
carbon applications, handbrake
handle and, as a finishing touch,
an aluminium cover for the BMW
i-Drive System.
Comfort is a matter of feeling
