Welcome to the abusSTAR Parent Module, a new online tool that allows parents to be completely involved in each aspect of their children’s education.

In this manual, you will find information which describes each different component of the Parent Module and clear, step-by-step instructions on using the program effectively.

The abusSTAR Parent Module gives you the ability to:

• Access reports about your child’s grades, conduct, attendance, and extracurricular activities.

• Review the list of books your child will need for the academic year.

• Order your child’s school supplies online.

• Read bulletins about the school policies, notices from the school’s administration, as well as school publications and periodicals.

• Review and print correspondence from your child’s teachers and principal.

To gain online access to the abusSTAR Parent Module, you must be registered by your school.

You may also grant other relatives online access to your child’s records by registering them with the school. Each individual must have a valid email address to register.

Once you have registered with the school and launched the abusSTAR Parent Module on your computer, the Log in page will appear on your screen, as seen below.

Requesting a Password

To gain access to the Parent Module, you will need to request a password.

At the bottom of the screen, enter your email address and click on the Submit button.

A password will then be sent to you.

Logging In

Now that you have your password, you are ready to log in to the program.

Enter your email address in the field provided, then enter your password.

Select the “Submit” button to log in.

Forgot your password? Simply request a new one by submitting your email address in the space provided at the bottom of your screen.

If prompted to save your login and password always select “no”when using a public computer. Change your password at any time you think it has been compromised.

On succesfully signing in to the Parent Module, the page below will appear:

There are eight buttons on the left-hand side of the page:

• Term Reports • Book Lists• Attendance • Events• Conduct • Bulletins• Activities • School Supplies

Each button launches a different section of the program. Use these buttons to navigate the program and learn pertinent information about your child’s education.

The “Term Reports” button launches a section where you will find your child’s report cards for the current academic year.

If you have more than one child in the school, the application will display all children connected to your Login.

To review your child’s term report, click on the “Term Reports” button. Use the drop-down list to select the term you wish to view.

Select “View” next to the name of the child whose term report youwish to review. The term report will appear in a new window.

The Attendance menu allows you to view your child’s attendance record for the academic year.

To access your child’s attendance records, select the “Attendance” button.Choose from the drop-down list the term you wish to view then, select“View” for the child whose attendance report you wish to review. The form attendance report will appear in a new window.

Click on the “Attendance” button on the left-hand side of the screen to review your child’s attendance report.Choose from the drop-down list the term you wish to view then, select “View” for the child whose class attendance report you wish to review. The class attendance report will appear in a new window.

The “Conduct” menu holds information on your child’s behavior. You can view both commenda-tory remarks and disciplinary actions pertaining to your child. These may include house points, special awards, as well as detention.

To view your child’s conduct, select the “Conduct” button in the left menu. Choose from the drop-down list the termyou wish to view then, select “View” for the child whose conduct report you wish to review. The conduct report will appear in a new window.

The Extracurricular Activities menu holds comments about your child’s progress in his or her extracurricular activities.

To view your child’s Extracurricular Activity Report, select the Activitiesbutton in the left menu. Choose from the drop-down list the term you wish to view then, select“View” for the child whose extracir-ricular activities report you wish toreview. The Extracurricular Report will appear in a new window.

In the Book Lists menu, you will find information on the required and recommended reading materials for each of your child’s classes andextracurricular activities. This section will also list any supplies your child may need for the academic year.

On the left of your screen, click on the “Booklist” button.Choose from the drop-down list the term you wish to view then, select“View” for the child whose booklist you wish to review. The book list will appear in a new window.

The “Events” menu lists all upcoming school functions, including meetings, fundraisers and sporting activities, for the academic year. Non-school sponsored events, such as national conferences and lec-tures, that are relevant to your child’s growth and development may also be published here. To view a list of school functions and social events, select “Events” in the left menu.

Choose from the drop-down list the term you wish to view then, select“View” for the child whose events you wish to review. A list of relatedevents will appear in a new window.

All official statements and important announcements will be found in the Bulletins section of the Parent Module.Parents may submit and view bulletins in this section.

To view a list of all the bulletins that have been posted select “Show All Bulletins button”.To read a bulletin, select “Click on text to read bulletin” below the titleof the bulletin.

To suggest a bulletin, select “Suggest Bulletin”.

In the field below “Bulletin Subject” enter the subject of your bulletin.

Compose your message in the field provided for the “Bulletin Body”.

On completion of your message, select “Suggest Bulletin” to send your bulletin to the moderator.

You will then be returned to the main Bulletins page.

The bulletins moderator will inform you by email whether your bulletin will be posted in the bul-letins section.

In the School Supplies menu, you can order all the required materials and equipment your child will need to fully participate in all classroom assignments and extracurricular activities.These items include text-books, uniforms or stationery.

Click on the School Supplies button in the left menu, fill in the contact information, then select “Submit”.

Choose a category from the drop-down list, then select “View”.

Select from the list of available items by selecting the “Add”button.

You may choose another category from the drop-down list and continue to shop. When you have selected all required school supplies, click “Finish”.

5.

Review your order and select “Delete” if you wish to delete an item. To proceed select “Place Order”.

On completion you will automatically receive an email message with a record of your Order Number. Have this information handy when you go to collect your order.

To print a report, click on the button on the left of the screen to choose the category of the report.Use the drop-down list to “Select a Term” and click “View” for the child’s report you wish to access.The report will appear in a new window.

Choose “Print” from the “File” menu at the top of the page to print the report.
