ABSTRACT: Over last few years, large undivided volume buildings like Theatres, Indoor Stadiums, Auditoriums, Airports, Shopping malls have become increasingly popular in India. These buildings typically contain large spaces or voids which can occupy many storey in Height. In general terms Large Enclosed Spacescan be applied for this type of buildings .This type of structures poses great threat from the Smoke at the time of fire as doesn’t exist any type of smoke barriers to prevent movement of smoke. Thus Studies on smoke movement and smoke management in a Large Enclosed Spaces become the new focus in fire research. This lead to New Revolution in Design approach named Performance Based Designswhich stress out in virtual testing of Design with respect to Real time worst scenarios to deliver an Optimum Design. In this process CFD has become an important tool to evaluate. At the same time, Evacuation calculations are increasingly becoming a part of performance-based analyses to assess the level of life safety provided in buildings. This project concentrates how well we can use Performance Based design considering Indian Scenario.
