Self Medical Group is its employed physician affiliate network of 33 practices and more than 115 physicians.

The compassionate individuals united by this honorary distinction share a profound commitment to Self Regional Healthcare and to its tradition of quality in healthcare services.

On April 16, 1944, devastating and deadly tornadoes heavily damaged Greenwood Hospital. The very next day, Mr. James C. Self, a local business leader and philanthropist, announced that he would build a new hospital for the community. Funded by the Self Foundation, Mr. Self personally oversaw the construction and recruited top physicians from across the U.S. Self Memorial Hospital was built to be one of the most advanced hospitals in the country and was given as a gift to provide the best healthcare for Greenwood and surrounding communities.

Self Memorial Hospital treated its first patient on November 1, 1951, and Mr. Self’s commitment to advanced care and philanthropic support continues to this day through the generosity of our donors.

The Madame Curie Society offers a unique opportunity to share in this tradition of people helping people. Madame Curie was a daughter, a wife, a mother, a scientist, a physicist. She was a pioneer whose work led to the discovery of elements that are vital to the work that Self Regional Healthcare performs everyday.

Her gift to mankind has given physicians and nurses one of the most important weapons to diagnose, treat and fight illness, injury and disease. Her gift has endured through time, just like gifts of our generous donors to the Madame Curie Society.
