Dazzling Innerwheel Installation

The reins of Innerwheel Club of Mysore Midtown changed hands at a colourful function last week.

The Queens of Innerwheel Clubs in Mysore converged to “Kings Kourt” for the installation ceremony of

the new Board for the year 2013-14. As expected the venue was decked up in great taste to welcome all.

President of Rotary Mid-town Rtn.Bhanuchandran & Secretary Rtn.Dr.Prahlad donned their new roles

but only for a short duration making way for the Innerwheel agenda. Taking charge the Innerwheel

members delivered a perfectly timed program. Comperes for the evening Savitha Venkatesh & Chaitra

Mohan took the program with an interesting conversation all thru. Pushpa Gangesh and team rendered

Invocation before Lavanya Alagappan delivered the Inner Wheel Prayer. President 2012-13 Anupama

Ravindranath welcomed the gathering with a traditional touch and an attractive pouch of chocolates to

the important guests. The dignitaries then assembled to light the lamp to mark a new beginning. In

coming secretary Geetha Krishna shared messages received for the occasion by Innerwheel fraternity.

President of Rotary Midtown released the bulletin “About Us”, which was specially packaged for the

occasion.Beating the usual trend of reading out volumes of Secretary's report, Premilla Jain made the task

interesting by adding a twist. Premilla started with the famous “Mein jo kahoongi, Sach kahoongi….”

dialogue enacting an oath. The report was then conveyed to the audience as a conversation between

Prabha Prahlad who questioned and the answers depicted Innerwheel's activities justified by Secretary

2012-13 Premilla Jain. Later, Anupama Ravindranath in her speech remembered her experiences and

profusely thanked all those who helped her during the term. She praised Innerwheel members for all

their support and love. She did not forget to mention Rtn.R.S.Vishwanath – immediate past president of

RC Midtown for his support and Late.Shoib Khuraishi for prompting her to join Innerwheel movement.

PDC Chandrika came out with a stunner introduction of the chief guest of the day PDC Geetha Kuttappa.

She weaved an interesting combination of traits, unique to PDC Geetha. It was time for installation of

“We, for Women” team.Vimala Nagaraj gave interesting quips introducing each of the board member while the chief guest

did the honours. The colourful new team looked dazzling while posing for a group pic. The new president

Uma Vivek gave a short but meaningful acceptance speech and assured to involve in meaningful

projects, she did not miss the chance to thank those who helped her. Energetic Renu Agarwal introduced

new face in Innerwheel Midtown Sheela Sanjay. It was then time for projects for the day, Roopa Ashok

read out the long list of projects initiated on the occasion while beneficiaries present received the

project proceeds.PDC Geetha Kuttappa in her address charmed the audience with her usual mix of humor and

meaningful thoughts. She remembered her association with Innerwheel and shared interesting

thoughts. At the end of her speech she had to oblige to the demand from the audience and sang “Hum

honge kaamyab, hum honge kaamyab…”, not satisfied, the audience requested for a “Madikerili Manju”

song. The sweet voiced hum of “rim jim, rim jim” was a joy to hear. Vice-president 2013-14 Premilla Jain

proposed vote of thanks. The program ended on time for a sumptuous dinner including much

appreciated “soft idlis” & an elaborate veg. spread. End note: I was privileged to get a seat between Dr.Kuttappa & Rtn.M.S.Raghu (both are husbands of

PDCs), it was such a challenge to keep my laugh within tolerable decibels during the entire meeting. The

duo are such a riot that I had a ball of a time. True “Riot”ers as “Rotarians”, admire your fun loving nature

gentlemen. - Editor

children with broken heartsThe way Olena Ichnatenko tells it, her

daughter has two fathers – her birth father and the doctor who gave her a second chance at life at the Ukrainian Children's Cardiac Center.

She was 10 days old when doctors operated to correct a congenital defect. Ichnatenko remembers the early days after her daughter was born in a different hospital: “We were told there that our child was dying and that is it.” Only after she took Yaroslava to the cardiac center did she feel a bit of hope for her daughter's life. Yaroslava, who celebrated her ninth birthday this year, is one of the facility's many success stories.

After many centuries of splints and

cumbersome plaster casts that have been the

itchy and smelly bane of millions of children,

adults and the aged alike, the world over, at

last there is fracture support into the 21st

century. The Cortex exoskeletal cast provides

a highly technical and trauma zone localized

support system that is fully ventilated, super

light, shower friendly, hygienic, recyclable and

stylish.

The cortex cast utilizes the x-ray and 3d

scan of a patient with a fracture and generates

a 3d model in relation to the point of fracture.
