I was able to maintain my high level of performance for another Olympic cycle," said Conner. “I had a great experience at my fourth Olympic trials. Citizens for Conservation has installed a commemorative plaque at its Grigsby Prairie in Barrington Hills. CFC’s board of directors voted to name its Grigsby Prairie trail in honor of Peggy Grigsby Richards to memorialize her generous land donations, a total of 48 acres. CFC began restoration of an Illinois tallgrass prairie at the site in 1987. Nesting birds at the 48-acre preserve include: meadowlarks, bobolinks, grass-

hopper sparrows, sedge wrens, king birds, savannah sparrows, red-headed woodpeckers, and bluebirds. The award-winning restoration provides habitat for 175 species of native plants in wet, mesic, and dry prairie wet-lands and savanna. Barrington 220 third and fourth grade stu-dents enjoy annual field trips to Grigsby Prairie in the fall as part of their science curriculum.
