UCS Management and HyperFlex Connect Launch

The purpose of this section is to show the integration between Cisco Intersight and Cisco UCS Manager. This integration allows Cisco Intersight to function as a single pane of glass for server management, as the user does not have to leave the Cisco Intersight user interface to manage the servers via UCS Manager.

1. While still on the server page, click on the Actions drop down and select Launch UCSM.

2. This connects you to the UCSM and allows you manage any UCSM configuration from the Intersight-launched UI.

3. Return to the Intersight tab, and from the menu select Hyperflex Clusters.

4. This displays summary information on the connected Hyperflex Clusters.

5. Click the three dots at the right of the row and select to Launch HyperFlex Connect for the cluster.

6. Click System Information from the HyperFlex Connect menu.

Service Profiles

The purpose of this section is to examine the pre-configured service profiles and policies that exist in the demonstration version of Intersight. Service profiles allow network operators to push configuration to a server and apply policies without logging into the servers individually. This level of automation saves time and prevents bad configuration due to user error.

1. From the menu, click Service Profiles. The policies are used here in the logical definitions applied to HyperFlex clusters.

2. Click on the Server Profile tab to display the server profiles.

3. Click on the profile name to see details on the profile.

VALUE PROPOSITION: The Boot, NTP, User, and BIOS policies are used in the creation of the service profile. In production, users can create these profiles and specify how the policy is configured (for example, the User policy can be set to enforce a strong password or to mandate that a password not be reused within five password changes). When the service profile is applied to a blade or a server, the policies are applied.

4. Click the page icon to the right of any policy to expand the details for the policy.

5. Click the Server tab to see the servers assigned. If no servers are assigned, the cluster uses a profile definition containing a set of policies.
