National Rural Network

The purpose of the National Rural Network is to assist the efficient and effective implementation of the Rural Development Programme across all axes and to promote synergies across measures.

A significant focus of the network will be to secure and co-ordinate the flow of information, including performance indicators, between local beneficiaries, intermediate bodies and the managing authority.

The Role of the National Rural Network

• The identification and grouping of stakeholders involved in rural development programming

• Transfer of knowledge and best practice to beneficiaries through dissemination actions and exchange experiences

• The convening of relevant seminars, conventions and workshops to ensure the use of best practice in programme delivery possible.

• The collection and analysis of indicators and evidence-based programme outputs

• The provision of a comprehensive information service to groups and organisations when requested

• Facilitating and promoting inter-territorial and trans-national cooperation in relation to the delivery of Axes 3 and 4.

• Representing Ireland on the proposed European Network for Rural Development and other fora Nationally and Abroad

National Rural Network (Irl)

The RDSU...

RDSU and Tipperary Institute• Tipperary Institute was successful in securing the tender to

provide the National Rural Network in Ireland.

• The RDSU is a unit set up within Tipperary Institute which will have responsibility for delivering this contract.

• The Unit will draw from the facilities and the broad range of expertise within TI.

• Tipperary Institute through the RDSU will report to the Departments of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food as the Managing Authority and the Department of community Rural and Gaelteacht Affairs.

The Team

• The RDSU is based at Tipperary Institute, in the Ballingarane Technology Park, Clonmel.

• We will have a full time staff of five, a Manager, Administrator, Publications Co-ordinator, Information Analyst and a Network Coordinator. In the first year we also have a dedicated Web Developer and Database Developer.
