General InformationREGISTRATIONSummerQuest offers online registration and payment. Please visit our website at https://thefirstacademy.org/aca-demics/summer-quest/ to register for courses. After registering online, all participants must also complete our med-ical information form. You can complete it online, send it in via mail, or bring it to campus by the first day of camp. This form requires a parent signature and is found on the next page of this brochure. Please return the medical form to:

Deadline for online registration is Friday, May 17, 2019 at 3:00pm. Any registration received after May 17th will be charged a $10 late fee.

COURSE FEEThe course fee must be paid in full to reserve your spot in the course. After paying online, complete the medical form that is located online on the registration page.

REFUND POLICYThe student will receive a full refund minus expenses incurred (T-shirt, etc.) if withdrawing from a program be-fore Friday, May 17, 2019. No refunds will be made after this date. If a student is asked to leave the course or camp for disciplinary reasons, no refund will be given. We understand that unforeseen circumstances do arise. However, in order to staff our camps and to ensure the camp programs offered are available to those who regis-tered, there are no exceptions.

CANCELLATION & WITHDRAWALThe First Academy reserves the right to cancel any program if there is insufficient enrollment. The designated par-ticipation minimum is listed under each course description. All fees will be refunded in the event that the course minimum is not met. This application is made with the understanding that The First Academy reserves the right to request withdrawal of any student whose conduct, influence, attendance, or progress is regarded as undesirable or unsatisfactory, or who fails to conform to rules and regulations. No refund will be made to any student who withdraws or is dismissed from SummerQuest after the program has begun.

DRESS CODEThe dress code for SummerQuest is casual but conservative. For sports camps please wear proper athletic clothes and footwear. Uniforms are not required during the summer. The Sports Hangout

"The Sports Hangout" at TFA provides a fun, safe, and encouraging atmosphere for students with special needs to work on motor skills. "The Sports Hangout" welcomes students who enjoy sports and would like to improve their skills. We strive to not only help students improve sports skills but to provide a setting that promotes the building of social skills and provides opportunities to make new friends. The program will focus on “sports skills” each day (throwing, catching, kicking, team sports, etc.). These skills will be taught through fun interactive games.

What to bring: comfortable athletic apparel, tennis shoes, a water bottle, a small snack, lunch, and lots of energy.

**To maximize student safety, this is for students who will stay with their group in an outside set-ting and can use the restroom independently.

K4-Story Stretcher: Rainbow FishJoin us for an adventurous week of water play, spe-cial cooking activity, and arts and crafts. We will be patterning, sequencing, counting, and "reading" color words. We will be getting ready for K-Prep by learn-ing classroom routines and will even take a tour of the Lower Bchool building (Clinic, Art, Music, and Span-ish rooms). The kids will build their fine motor skills by using scissors, painting, and shaping play dough into sea creatures. We will take a "field trip" to the beach without even leaving the classroom. The kids will have fun "fishing," collecting shells, and mak-ing sand castles. Minimum class size is 6 students.

Kinder ConnectionsThis one-week class is designed for students entering TFA’s Kindergarten program and will give them a chance to boost confidence and skills prior to the start of school. Students will be given the opportunity to re-view essential skills for success in Kindergarten. The focus will include activities related to letter sounds and recognition, reading readiness and comprehen-sion, number awareness and recognition, fine motor skills, and oral language. Art CampCome to the Lower School art room for a fun filled four days of ART! We will be using a wide variety of mediums to create all kinds of things such as an-imals, landscapes, abstract compositions, and more! Students will be drawing, painting, printmaking, and creating collages. They will also learn/refine their art skills and techniques to create beautiful pieces of art. Summer SizzleDon’t let your brain fizzle when summer starts to sizzle! This course is geared toward rising 2nd and 3rd grade students. Get ready to practice, review, and expand the skills you will need in the next grade level. Nobody wants to spend Summer doing boring worksheets by themselves! In Summer Sizzle, we’ll explore Math, Reading, Science, and other founda-tional skills through games and interactive coopera-tive learning. You will have the opportunity to prac-tice the skills you'll need for your new grade level as you participate in game play, art, and stem activities. You’ll be having so much fun, you might not even realize you are learning. Camp includes a daily snack time and opportunities to get a jump start on summer reading. Learn what it takes to be a Legacy Staff Reporter in this hands-on, fun, and educational course. The camp instruction staff will consist of the varsity baseball staff at TFA. Players should wear baseball appropriate clothing, and bring their own gloves, bats, and cleats daily.

FootballThe TFA summer football camp will focus on the fun-damentals of the game. These fundamentals include proper footwork, catching skills, throwing skills, blocking skills, tackling skills, and sportsmanship. Each day will include individual instruction and sportsmanship training, along with team and individ-ual competition. The camp coaches will include TFA varsity football players and TFA varsity coaches. Children will receive instruction in a competitive en-vironment that will allow them to improve their skills and have fun. There will be a daily spiritual emphasis and an awards ceremony that parents may attend on the last day of camp. Each child will receive a camp T-shirt at the end of the week. Players will need to wear cleats, shorts, and an athletic shirt each day. Compe-titions include: punting, passing, kicking, catching, team competition, and obstacle course competition.

Cheerleading (TK-4th)Come cheer with us! Learn proper motions and technique, jumps, cheers, dance/tumbling, and ba-sic stunt technique. Cheerleaders will also enjoy fun games and activities. At the end of the week, we will have a performance for family and friends. This youth cheerleading camp will be taught by former TFA Cheerleader and TFA teacher Ashley Rowley. Each day will include individual instruc-tion along with team and individual competitions. The coaches include the TFA girls’ coaching staff as well as varsity players. Girls LacrosseThe TFA Girls Lacrosse program is looking to grow! This summer camp will be a great opportunity for players grades 6-12 to learn the basics of girls la-crosse, or improve on skills they already have. This camp is open to beginners and returning players. La-crosse stick, mouth guard, athletic clothes and sneak-ers/cleats are required. Daily instruction will focus on individual aspects of the game, mental approach to the game, and the under-standing of team philosophies. Fine Arts CampsJungle Book Production Camp

This class is designed to help 4th-9th-grade students express their creativity and develop their artistic tal-ents while implementing theatrical terms, staging, and acting. The students will rehearse “Jungle Book, Kids”, a classic animated tale of Disney's beloved "man cub" and his journey through the jungle as he learns what it means to be a human. There will be a culminating performance on Friday. Minmum class size is 15 students. Maximum class size is 30 students.

Team Specific Training Sessions(Rising Grades 8th - 12th; Boys and Girls)

Sessions will be grouped together based on teams for rising grades 8th-12th. Workouts will be geared towards the specific needs of each particular sport. The program is designed to give three training sessions per week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday). We ask that if a student will be participating in multiple sports in the coming school year, that they sign up for the sport that will begin first in the year. They may still attend any of their remaining sports, but we ask that they stick to only one set of workouts. Each team has a designated time slot that will remain the same throughout the summer. The information for this summer is listed below. This is free for TFA athletes.
