ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Established in the year 2011, this specialized branch deals with measurement, control
and automation of processes. SKCT is one of the few colleges that offer this
multidisciplinary course. The branch has an excellent team of highly qualified &
experienced faculty members who thrives to mould the students into career-charted,
enthusiastic & industry ready engineers. The course structure makes the students fit
for both hardware & software industry. The well planned curriculum, state of art
laboratories, industrial visits & in plant trainings make our engineers capable of
managing almost all process & manufacturing industries such as steel, oil,
petrochemical, power and defence production having an exclusive instrumentation
department.

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs)
1 To provide sound foundation in the mathematical, scientific and engineering
fundamentals to formulate, solve and analyze problems related to
Instrumentation and Control Engineering.
2 To prepare graduates for employment in core / IT industries who are socially
responsible and integrated with professional and ethical skills.
3 To prepare graduates to involve in research, higher studies and / or to become
entrepreneurs in the long run.

Dr Manju, P obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
from Amrita Vishwa Vidya Peethom, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, India and obtained her
Master’s Degree with Honors in Power Systems Engineering from Government
Engineering College, Calicut University, Kerala. She obtained her doctoral degree from
Anna University, Chennai under the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.
Her career started in the year 2002 with Sri Krishna College of Engineering and
Technology, Coimbatore. She is currently heading the Department of Instrumentation
& Control Engineering at Sri Krishna College of Technology, Coimbatore, India. She has
a total of 16 years of experience in teaching and research. She has presented various
technical papers in national & international conferences and published her research
works in reputed international journals. She is entitled as the guest editor and reviewer
for reputed international journals. She is a Life Member of Indian Society of Technical
Education and Member of International Society of Automation. She has organized more
than 50 events, which includes Industry Expert Lectures, Workshops, Faculty
Development Programmes and International Conferences. She has received a fund of
Rs.50,000/- from the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy Sources, New Delhi for the
conduct of Workshop on “Wind Energy Technology”. She has also chaired technical
sessions in various international conferences and technical symposiums.
She has 3 patents filed in her name and has been fundamental for setting up of an
Automation Laboratory in the department, in collaboration with IPCS Automation Pvt.
Ltd., Coimbatore. The lab was sponsored with equipment worth 3 lakhs by IPCS
Automation Pvt. Ltd. She was also bestowed with the Best Faculty Award by Accenture,
during International Women’s Day Celebrations, 2018.
Her areas of interest include FACTS Controllers, Intelligent Controllers and Renewable
Energy Sources.

THE 4 YEAR STUDENT'S ACADEMIC LIFE
INFRASTRUCTURE
The students are exposed to 24 x 7 learning environment with SMART CLASSROOMS.
A step ahead to Teaching & Learning process, the College has completely transformed
the conventional classrooms into interactive rooms with the Smart Board teaching. The
audio-visual senses of students are enhanced and it helps the students to grasp the
information fast and more effectively. The college has a CENTRAL LIBRARY, which is
well equipped with online facilities and resources in the form of CD-ROM, On-line
databases, e-journals, e-books, books and journals.
The COMPUTER CENTERS at the premises offers round the clock services for
students with the latest infrastructure, supporting research and studies at the
campus. The campus is also enabled with Wi-Fi zones for students’ access.
Furthermore, the campus has well maintained SEMINAR HALLS AND CONFERENCE
ROOMS with video conferencing facilities. In addition to these, the college also houses
VANKATRAM HALL, a fully furnished and air conditioned auditorium with a seating
capacity of 3500.
The FOOD AND AMENITY MALL is yet another attraction of the campus, which
offers a relaxed environment to dine and interact. FITNESS AND YOGA CENTERS at
the institute help each individual to develop their physical and spiritual attributes as
well.
The Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering has 6 CORE
LABORATORIES with state of art and special equipment that not only serves the
curriculum, but also helps students and faculty to carry out consultancy and research
works. The core laboratories include, Transducers & Measurements Laboratory, Virtual
Instrumentation Laboratory, Electronics Laboratory, Industrial Automation
Laboratory, Industrial Instrumentation Laboratory and Process Control laboratory. The
department also has an exclusive department library offering the students the books
and journals related to the core areas of instrumentation and control engineering.
Exclusive PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND INNOVATION CENTER is an added
highlight of the department. This centre exhibits the various projects and prototypes
developed by the students, which are taken up for study and further research by the
succeeding students of the department.
FIRST YEAR FACILITIES
LANGUAGE LABORATORY
Language Laboratory is situated in the Electrical Sciences Block and is equipped with
72 computers. The Laboratory manual is designed in a way to implement a standardized,
skill based curriculum with a global perspective. The Laboratory acts as a platform for
understanding, learning and practicing language skills. It enhances the communicative,
social, interpersonal and professional skills of the students and in turn helps them to
emerge as employable engineers and good competitors in the corporate world.
PHYSICS LABORATORY
The Physics Laboratory occupies an area of around 307 sq.m. with latest instruments
like Laser, Spectrometer, Travelling Microscope, Lee’s Disc and Band Gap apparatus.
The students are given greater insight into the knowledge of practical Science and true
applications of its broad working principles.
CHEMISTRY LABORATORY
The Chemistry Laboratory covers an area of 285 sq.m. It is well equipped with latest
equipment such as Digital Potentiometer, Digital pH Meter, Digital Conductivity Meter,
Hot Air oven, Demineralization Plant and Spectrophotometer. This laboratory provides
a keen sense of observation to increase the efficiency of students through practical
applications.
LIFE @ ICE
Life @ ICE, SKCT goes way beyond the basic concepts taught in classrooms and
laboratories. The department offers excellent opportunities for the students to
participate in recreational and creative activities through its association and various
clubs.
DENETIM - An Association of ICEians
An Association of ICEians that works towards "Control for Change". DENETIM brings
together ICEians, helping them develop their interpersonal skills. The association runs
wide range of events for teachers and aspiring students to improve their technical and
management skills
PRERANA - Kindling Social Awareness
ICEians are also made socially responsible through our "Social Awareness Club -
PRERANA". Our faculty and students are involved in activities creating social and
environmental awareness for public welfare. PRERANA in short is the best way to
discover solutions and awareness for social and environmental issues.
PEIs
The intellectual group of ICE is also exposed to programs to raise awareness and
aspirations to some of the most competitive, trending and demanding subject areas in
the field of Instrumentation and Control Engineering. The department offers teachers,
various opportunities to develop skills and knowledge that can both boost their
professional development and benefit the student group.

An exclusive yearly newsletter of ICE department providing details featuring the
achievements and events carried out by the department during every academic year.

Students at our department undergo summer internship / winter industrial training
programmes, helping them bridge the gap between academia & industry. The training
session enhances the student profile making them industry ready

Experts from premier academic institutions & industries along with our distinguished
alumni comprise our Expert Advisory Board. The panel of experts helps the department
in implementing best practices within & outside the curriculum to make an ICEian

INDUSTRIAL VISIT
Students along with faculty mentors are encouraged for regular visit to industries
related to their subject of study. These visits expose them to the practical industrial
scenario & helps in bridging the gap between curricular & industrial aspects.
AVANTAA
The national level annual technical fest organized by the department giving an exposure
on latest trends and innovations. Attracting participants all over the country, it hosts
workshops, various technical & non technical events, paper presentations, all aiming at
testing and enhancing the technical acumen of the students.
SAE CLUB
The SAE collegiate club at college premises is promising to combine research,
development, design, manufacture and utilization of vehicles. Our department students
are also active members of this society participating in various events at national levels.
SWARAJATHI
The Music & Fine Arts Club of SKCTians gives students’ a platform to exhibit their
passion and extracurricular skills. Various events are organized round the year, helping
the students’ to exhibit their talents.

GENERAL RULES
1. Every student shall maintain exemplary discipline at all times both within the
campus and outside, failing which suitable action will be taken.
2. Students shall not leave the classrooms during the class hours without proper
permission.
3. Students shall not make any noise while moving from classroom to classroom.
4. Meetings, of any kind, shall be organized only after obtaining prior written
permission from the Principal.
5. Students shall not collect any money for any purpose from anybody without
obtaining prior written permission from the Principal.
6. No notice of any kind shall be circulated by the students or pasted anywhere in
the College campus without prior permission from the Principal.
7. No student shall take part in any type of political related activity.
8. As per the directions of the Honorable Supreme Court of India, UGC has issued
very strict instructions regarding RAGGING. Any Student found or reported to
have indulged in or encouraged ragging will be dismissed from the College and
legal steps will be taken. The ragging incident will also be reported to the
University and Commissioner of Police for further action. This will also be
incorporated in Transfer Certificate. Therefore, students are strictly
instructed not to indulge in ragging in any form, either inside or outside the
Campus.
9. Smoking as well as consuming any form of intoxicants is strictly prohibited
within the campus.
10. Students shall not conduct themselves in any manner, which may bring discredit
to the College/University.
11. In academic and disciplinary matters the decision of the Principal is final.
12. Students should be punctual to the classes.
13. Students shall not get absent themselves from classes without proper leave
applications duly signed by parents / guardian / warden.
14. Application for leave in the prescribed format shall be submitted personally to
the concerned faculty advisor before availing the leave.
15. Permission to leave the college premises during working hours can be granted
only by the Principal or concerned HOD, usually on production of a letter of
request from the student
16. Medical certificate should be produced for more than three days of sick leave
and the student should produce proper evidence for any other type of leave.
17. All students should help in maintaining the campus clean.
18. Students should park their vehicles only at the space meant for parking.
19. Wearing of Helmet is compulsory for those who are coming to college by two
wheelers
20. All students are required to carry their valid Identity Cards issued to them by
the institute.

Graduates of Instrumentation and Control Engineering program of Sri Krishna College of Technology
