About Me PowerPoint  Assignment:    You  will  create  a  PowerPoint  presentation  to  learn  the  basics  of  PowerPoint  while  also  introducing  yourself  to  Mrs.  Taylor  and  the  class.    You  will  be  graded  on  following  directions  as  far  as  content  to  include  in  your  PowerPoint,  use  of  PowerPoint  and  simple  design  elements,  and  also  presenting  your  PowerPoint.    The  grading  rubric  is  available  as  you  design  so  you  can  understand  what  is  required.    Content:    You  will  have  10  slides  in  your  presentation.    Here  is  the  information  that  needs  to  be  included  on  each  slide.    

Slide  1:    Title  slide  should  have  your  name,  year  (freshmen,  sophomore,  junior,  senior),  your  age,  and  a  picture  of  you  

Slide  2:    Information  about  Family/Pets    Slide  3:    Something  about  last  summer  Slide  4:    Techno  self  –  Describe  your  technology  use  ideas  can  include:    type  of  computer,  

favorite  sites,  are  you  a  gamer,  apps  you  use,  social  media  presence,  smart  phone  use,  Rate  your  self  using  the  following  scale:      1-­‐ can’t  live  without  technology    2-­‐ I  use  it  daily  but  don’t  feel  the  need  to  be  connected  at  all  times  3-­‐ I  use  when  I  have  to    4-­‐ I  avoid  it  as  much  as  possible  

Slide  5:    Favorites  –  Choose  3  of  the  following  topics  and  describe  your  favorite  in  that  topic  • Books  • Music  • TV  • Movies  • Cars  

• Actor/actresses  • Food  • Restaurants  • Vacation  spot  • Snack  food  

• School  Subject  • Teacher  • Hobby  • Sport  • Candy  

Slide  6  and  7:    Finish  the  quote:    “In  my  free  time  I  like  to……”    Putting  one  ending  on  each  slide  

Slide  8:    Future  goals  /  plans  –  these  could  include  college,  job,  family,  where  you  want  to  live,  etc.  

Slide  9:    One  unique/interesting  thing  about  you  Slide  10:    Credits  –  cite  any  sources  you  (most  likely  for  pictures)    note:    if  you  do  a  

Google  search  for  pictures  whatever  you  find  comes  from  another  site  –  you  can  NOT  cite  Google  images  as  a  source!!!  

   

PowerPoint  Tools:    You  will  need  to  demonstrate  that  you  can  use  the  following  features  in  PowerPoint:  • Use  a  template  for  your  PowerPoint  • Apply  a  transition  to  every  slide  in  your  PowerPoint  • Use  a  minimum  of  two  animations  • Apply  one  sound  effect  somewhere  just  to  try  it  • Add  at  least  3  pictures  • Use  at  least  one  bulleted  list.  

Design  and  Submission:    Students  should  follow  design  tips  included  in  the  attached  sheet.    Students  will  need  to  share  their  final  presentation  with  Mrs  Taylor  by  sending  the  file  to  her  shared  folder  on  her  computer.    Only  projects  submitted  this  way  will  be  presented  and  graded.    Presentation:    Attached  is  a  presentation  tip  sheet  please  use  it  to  get  tips  on  creating  and  presenting  your  PowerPoint.    Some  key  things  that  I  will  be  looking  for  when  you  present:  • You  are  not  just  reading  the  slides  –  your  slides  should  just  be  bulleted  points/brief  

text  and  you  elaborate  on  these  points  when  you  present  • Your  presentation  is  interesting  • You  are  speaking  clearly  and  loudly  to  the  audience,  not  facing  the  screen  • You  sound  like  you  have  rehearsed/planned  what  you  intend  to  say  for  each  slide    Points  for  About  Me  PowerPoint    

Content  –  30  pts.  PowerPoint  Tools  –  25  pts  Design  and  Submission  of  PowerPoint  –  15  pts.  Presentation  –  20  pts.  Time  Management/Time  on  task  –  10  pts.    

Everyone  should  be  ready  to  present  his  or  her  PowerPoint  on  Friday  August  28th.    By  this  date  it  will  need  to  be  sent  to  Mrs.  Taylor  shared  folder.
