TERM BROCHURE Semester 1 | 2018 Every donation over $2.00 is tax deductable About LCEC About Laverton Community Education Centre Laverton Community Education Centre (LCEC) is the education and training arm of Laverton Community Integrated Services (LCIS). As a Registered Training Organisation since 1999, the Centre offers a range of Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses including Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care, Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and Certificate III in Individual Support courses. We are also contracted to deliver the Commonwealth funded Skills for Education and Employment Program (SEE) and Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP). The Skills for Education and Employment program offers 800 hours of free language, literacy and numeracy to eligible job seekers. The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) provides up to 510 hours of free English language tuition to eligible migrants and humanitarian entrants to help them learn basic English skills to assist them, to successfully and confidently participate socially and economically in Australian society. The Centre promotes pathways to education through its pre-accredited programs including English Language courses. These programs are designed to engage participants in learning and provide pathways to VET courses and employment outcomes. The two other arms of Laverton Community Integrated Services (LCIS) are Laverton Community Centre & Neighbourhood House and Laverton Community Children’s Centre Advantages of studying at LCEC At LCEC you will find a friendly, accessible team of people to help you start your new course. LCEC employs qualified and experienced teachers so that you get the best support you can in your learning program LCEC is a not-for-profit community provider where you can earn a nationally recognised qualification without paying exorbitant fees or taking on a lifetime of debt. LCEC has strong contacts with industry. So if you are doing our early childhood education and care courses or our aged care course we will find a suitable high- quality practical placement for you. If you are a parent with pre-school age children LCEC has access to childcare support funding that you may be able to use (if you meet eligibility criteria) to help you pay for childcare while you are studying LCEC is part of Laverton Community Integrated Services Organisation which offers access to a range of social and community services that can help you with any issues you may encounter. LCEC works closely with other community and public education and training providers and if we can’t offer the course you want we will help you find the right course with another provider. About LCEC

About Laverton Community Education CentreLaverton Community Education Centre (LCEC) is the education and training arm of Laverton Community Integrated Services (LCIS).

INTEL EASY STEPS Intel Easy Steps is a course designed to help you learn the basic steps of how to use a computer effectively, and to apply your computer skills to your every-day life. Computer skills are also important for employment, and for running any size of business, large or small. In this 7 week Intel Easy Steps course, you will learn the basics of how to use the computer in a series of easy lessons.

EAL ENGLISH LITERACY This course is suitable for people who have little education in their first language. In this course you will develop functional, literacy and numeracy skills to enable you to participate in the community and employment.

CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH AND LIFE SKILLSPractice your conversation in a small and friendly class, learning skills that are relevant to everyday life. This course enables you to acquire conversational tools and life skills which will give you the confidence

INTENSIVE EAL FOR JOBSEEKERSThis course is designed for learners who have little or no prior educational experience. This course will help you develop basic skills in English speaking, listening, reading, writing, numeracy, learning skills and help you prepare for employment.

ADULT MIGRANT ENGLISH PROGAM (AMEP)The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) helps new migrants learn basic English skills that will assist them to successfully and confidently participate socially and economically in Australian society. The AMEP is available to migrants from the family, skilled and humanitarian visa streams and provides up to 510 hours of English language tuition within the first five years of visa commencement or arrival. This program is administered by the Department of Education and Training and is underpinned by the Immigration (Education) Act 1971 and the Immigration ( Education) regulations 1992.

SKILLS FOR EDUCATION AND EMPLOYMENT (SEE) Under the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program, Laverton Community Education Centre can provide you with up to 800 hours of FREE English language, literacy and numeracy training, if you are an eligible job-seeker. The skills you gain will help you to find employment. Part-time and full-time classes are available. The SEE program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Education and Training.

CERTIFICATE III IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND CARE (CHC30113)With our industry expert trainers and extensive industry work placement you will develop the skills and knowledge to work within the growing early childhood education and care industry. Become qualified in this nationally recognised and accredited qualification and start working with children in Early Childhood Education Centre’s, Childcare Centre’s and Family Day Care

DIPLOMA OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND CARE (CHC50113)

Acquire the skills you will need to design and implement a curriculum within an early childhood centre, learning to effectively manage staff and more. Completion of this diploma qualifies you to work in a Children’s Services Centres in positions responsible for planning, implementing and managing early childhood services including supervising staff.

CERTIFICATE 1 IN WORK EDUCATION (22302VIC)The Certificate I in Work Education is intended to support post compulsory school age learners with permanent intellectual disabilities to develop the skills to explore work options and access pathways to further specific vocational education and training. It supports learners

to improve their employability and work readiness.

Fees for the above courses will vary depending on an individual’s eligibility to access funding. Please ring the Education Centre for further information.

This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding subject to eligibility requirements.
