About iDevelop At a time when the continuous improvement of competences and

qualifications has become a reality, a teacher who possesses substantial and

empirical knowledge is an integral part of the school environment.

iDevelop is an international training provider specialized in the development of

professionals working in the educational sector by promoting, supporting and

providing training activities in accordance with the Erasmus+ principles.

It constitutes the teachers training department of euroMind Group, an

international training and internship consultancy aimed at VET sector.

Many years of experience working closely with schools all over Europe has

allowed us to reach a deep understanding of the reality of the teaching sector.

Hence, iDevelop is able to observe the needs, new tendencies and the continuous changes the educational

system is undergoing.

Thanks to this background, iDevelop have launched a wide range of courses and training events which provide

all the necessary tools to improve the skills of teachers and school staff.

The training courses offered by iDevelop were designed in cooperation with experts with an extensive

experience in the field of education. Topics covered in our training courses are all

related to educational issues, such as: motivation, new teaching methods,

emotional balance and the use of new communication and information

technologies.

Moodle is an open source software package for creating and managing e-learning courses. Most educational institutions today use some kind of e-learning platform and a great majority of them use Moodle for their online campus.

This course will guide you through the basic steps for the use Moodle as a teacher, creating intuitive courses and integrating all types of activities, educational content and multimedia resources. Moodle can be used for online courses, but it is also used in blended learning situations in which the face-to-face work at school is complemented with a wide variety of digital materials.

Moodle’s wide variety of resources will contribute to provide a boost of extra motivation for your students. These digital, multimedia materials will give your subject(s) an extra dimension where the students will find themselves comfortable and eager to learn.

The course has a flexible approach in order to adapt the learning outcomes to the particular needs and ICT profile of the participants.

Types of Moodle courses. Basic setup of a course.

Navigation in Moodle: teachers’ and students’ modes. Roles.

Blocks and sections in a course: types and functions.

Activities and resources in Moodle.

Practice: setting up a Moodle course.

Practice: adding communication activities to your Moodle course.

Learning Outcomes

Methodology

By completing this course, participants will be able to:

1. understand the importance of current e-learning and blended learning trends in education;

2. understand and the main characteristics of Moodle as a software for the creation of online courses;

3. set up and use your own Moodle course;

4. navigate through a course and customize it with different blocks and sections;

5. create different types of learning activities and use them according to the desired learning

outcomes;

6. provide feedback for students’ work and grade assignments;

7. create individual itineraries by restricting access to activities based upon conditions such as date,

grades, performance, etc;

8. create your own resources in Moodle and incorporate other external resources

9. from the Internet;

10. comply with copyright laws when using external materials for your courses;

11. enroll your students in a Moodle course;

12. monitor your students’ performance throughout the course;

13. set up grading scales and configure the course grades policy;

14. backup, restore and reset a Moodle course.

The course has a very practical approach. Each of the participants will have an empty Moodle course of

their own. They will use this empty course not only as a sandbox to practise all the Moodle features, but

also as a real course adapted to their own school subject(s). At the end of the course, each participant will

have a backup file of their own course that they can take back home to use with their students.

How the skills learnt can be applied in teaching work? The skills learnt by the participants during the course can be used to:

1. Each participant will take home a backup of a Moodle course created by themselves with some

model resources and activities that can be used in their classes.

2. The participants will be able to complement the face-to-face interaction in their subjects with

varied multimedia resources that their students can use online.

3. The use of the Moodle platform will have a positive impact on their students’ motivation.

Carlos Guerrero graduated in English Philology and holds a Master’s

degree in E-learning. He is an English language teacher and an ICT

teacher trainer. He is the author and instructor of many onsite and

online courses for teachers on different aspects of educational

technology.

Meet the tutor

He is a specialist in the Moodle platform and has taught many

monographic courses on this topic. He has worked as an

administrator of several Moodle installations for the last 10 years. He

also works as the Head of Vocational Studies for the SAFA

Foundation, a group of 26 schools in the south of Spain.
